I was reading stuff about using Expert Mode to level up faster. Is it just like... if I'm in an area with lvl 75 enemies then I put my level down to 70 to fight them... am I technically levelling faster?
And then if I turn off expert mode/level up back to max, am I losing anything?Yes. You get more exp if you're a couple of levels lower than the enemies you fight.
if you are 6 levels lower than an enemy you get 150% more Experience than normalI was reading stuff about using Expert Mode to level up faster. Is it just like... if I'm in an area with lvl 75 enemies then I put my level down to 70 to fight them... am I technically levelling faster?

Shouldn't do. I've been keeping my level just below enemies and where enemies are about level 38, I can level my entire party up to 48 if I so wanted to.
The exp you get per kill will be higher, and you'll also still have all your higher level equipment/arts etc. I don't know if it'll be that noticeable though, haven't tried it myself. (Not that equipment has levels, but stuff that is "higher tier" than the current area)
Got a question. Slight spoilers for locations and character builds
I'm encountering a problem I ran into when I played the game on my first playthrough back in the day. I just got to Sword Valley, and I found that Dunban isn't cutting it as a dodge-tank anymore. I'm maxed out at +50 agility on Gems, but I can't really figure out a way to increase it anymore. It was at this point last time round that I ended up switching back to Reyn, but I don't really want to do that. Anyone got any tips for increasing his agility at around lv 45ish?
What armor is he wearing? You want to keep him at light (because of his skill) or medium and make sure his weight is at 0. Besides that you could link some skills that increases agility. Linked skills stat boosts are added on top of the +50 agility limit.
I'll check the weighting. When you say keep it at zero, are there armors that have a zero weight, or shall I just go nude? I've unlocked the agility up when no armor equipped skill but was always too scared to use it because it sounds like I'll get killed in one hit by the rng.
So at the end of chapter 14~beginning of chapter 15...
Is it ever explained why Mechonis has another left arm now? I don't know if I got a good look at it before but I'm now standing on his hand which got cut off in the games intro, yet the last cutscene he has a left arm again...
Dunban has a skill that reduces weight and you can link Shulk's skill to him which does the same. Less weight = more agility.
No armor Dunban IMO isn't worth the loss of Gem slots, since they are so impactful.
Talking about the standard (and very effective) Melia glass cannon build:
Refresher you may not need, but just in case:
oooh, that's what they're saying? I thought it was "we never! Find the treasure!" and felt kinda bad for them...
Refresher you may not need, but just in case:
Both Melia and Sharla will give Dunban agility from skill links. Also, make sure you have Dunban's agility skill tree selected for battles when you need it, you only get the stat bonus for the skill tree when you have it "equipped".
Also, if you max out Serene Heart, you can basically have it constantly active
Cool thanks! The skill tree thing seems to be getting a lot of contradictory information. So you do need to have a branch equipped/active in order to get the bonuses from it?
Thanks. With it only being the one quest I might just say screw it and keep chugging. I think though if I do all of them there it gives me access to some other area in the capital, not sure.Agniratha is completely gone, you can never go back there.I believe Mechonis Field is also entirely off limits now. You are "at" the Mechonis Core event, proceeding very much further will cause a major story event to occur that basically transitions the world to its post-game state, and nearly every timed quest will expire.
You go to a new bit of Central Factory for the next story event. You can explore the old area but you can't fast travel anywhere in it. In the original I'm fairly certain you could use the transporter to Agniratha even though it's supposed to be destroyed at the end of chapter 14, but they may have fixed that. Haven't tried yet. Since your quest didn't expire you can probably still go back, but again, no fast travel.
It does look quite a bit different from the one that was there before, just thought that would at least get a mention in dialogue somewhere and not just some random NPC chatter, but I'm probably the only person that cares about this.Regarding the arm, it's actually pretty simple:
A random NPC in the Hidden Machina Village says that Egil repaired it.
Out of curiosity, how many affinity starts have you got with each region?
I'm too lazy to make a gif will this do?Can someone hit me up with a gif of LATE GAME SIDEQUEST SPOILER Tyrea flying off with her head wings because that will never not look hilarious.
I'm convinced Future Connected is written by die hard Melia fans 😂
reminder:
DO NOT DISCUSS FUTURE CONNECTED SPOILERS OR CONTENT IN THIS THREAD
FUTURE CONNECTED HAS A SEPARATE OT
In the X menu, in the Affinity Chart. Each area is rated from 1 (minimum) to 5 (maximum) stars depending on how many people you talked to and how many quests you did.
I've completed this game twice before in the past (about to be a third) and have gotten to Prison Island at the very least on 4 different playthroughs before tapping out; each of those times only ever playing Shulk. I've maybe only ever flirted with Dunban once and that wasn't even more than an hour, tops. This playthrough I decided I'll at least put a few hours into each character and at 80 hours I've come to this conclusion:
Shulk is by far the most boring character to play in this game.
I've gone on record, numerous times, saying that I prefer the combat in XBC2 and while I still believe that to be the case, the combat in XBC1 is much deeper than I initially thought and is woefully underutilized when you just play as Shulk. Even Sharla, while far from the best character, is much more interesting to play than Shulk. Once you learn how to deal with the Mechon without Shulk's help, I find it hard to think of a reason you'd use him outside of pure DPS.
Yea honestly since I learned how to play Melia, I only use Shulk when fighting Meckons. Even other characters like Reyn and Dunban are more fun to play. Shulk is fine but only playing as him is ignoring a big part of the gameplay and fun imo.I also didnt use Shulk much. I used Reyn, Melia, Dunban, and then seven. Occasionally also Riki. All in all I think Riki is the most versatile fighter, can do both ether and physical, more straightforward than melia and can heal better than Sharla. Enel has just made a guide and he basically suggests putting fire, ice and poison plus, and boost ether. Pretty straightforward.
I know some folks like sticking to Shulk (a "newbie mistake" in some ways), but I got sooo sick of setting up positioning for it all the time. :PYea honestly since I learned how to play Melia, I only use Shulk when fighting Meckons. Well there you go! As someone accurately said before, it probably *feels* like you did everything hehe. But you barely scratched the surface when it comes to secondary quests!
