Perfect, this is reassuring then.
So I took the day off to run some errands and also preorder my series X.
The wife just hit me with the "you know you never took my birthday off this year, right?"
What kind of flowers will make up for this blunder?

I was told in the MS Rewards thread that it "locked in" the amount you have at the time of order. But I don't know for certain, I'm probably going to add more money as time goes on and see what happens.

Yeah if it's anything like what it's been for Surface launches the Microsoft Store will have the most stock and last longer.
On EU they did, in Australia the launch allocation went in seconds on our major local and within 25 min at the longest on the MS store.
PS5 was an uncoordinated madhouse but it was up for minutes at a time, so yeah you should be fine.
likely almost no difference between them. If you're not sure, don't buy for tiny differences. Buy for MS first party games or gamepass catalogue if they interest you
