By any chance is anyone else having the following issue like me?

Any time I try to enter text (searching in Store, sending message, trying to... report this issue) instead of an on screen keyboard popping up a small microphone icon pops up and I am unable to type.

Tried a restart. Tried a full shutdown. Nothing. Its like voice to text is on, but it isn't and my understanding is that only works in chat anyway... not all text entry across the system.

I have the same problem after the last update.

Ah damn, well that sucks for us but good to know it isn't a me problem. Seeing a few more report the issue in the Skip Ahead Reddit as well. I can enter text via the app, but it's not terribly smooth. Apparently a USB Keyboard also works as a fix in the meantime if you have one.

Xbox Insider Release Notes - Alpha Skip-Ahead (2108.210524-2200) - Xbox Wire

Hey Xbox Insiders! We have a new Xbox Update Preview coming to the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring...

Hey Xbox Insiders! We have a new Xbox Update Preview coming to the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring. It's important we note that some updates made in these preview OS builds include background improvements that ensure a quality and stable build for Xbox consoles.

We continue to post these release notes, even when the noticeable changes to the UI are minimal, so you're aware when updates are coming to your device. Details can be found below!

System Update Details:
  • OS version released: XB_FLT_2108CO\21990.1501.210524-2200
  • Available: 2 p.m. PT – May 26, 2021
  • Mandatory: 3 a.m. PT – May 27, 2021
Fixes Implemented
Thanks to the hard work of Xbox engineers, we are happy to announce the following fixes have been implemented for this build:

Apps

  • Fixes to address image quality issues watching streaming content in Prime Video with Dolby Vision enabled.
Audio

  • Fixed an issue where users would hear no game audio when launching a Quick Resume title.
Groups

  • Fixed an issue where the Quick Resume group would not appear in the Guide or My Games & Apps.
System

  • Various updates to properly reflect local languages across the console.
    • Note: Users participating in Preview may see "odd" text across the console, for more information go here.
Known Issues
We understand some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes. These items aren't being ignored, but it will take Xbox engineers more time to find a solution.

We're still tracking these known issues:
Audio

  • Some users have reported that they are not hearing any audio with Dolby Atmos enabled.
  • Some users are reporting that there is no game audio when launching a Quick Resume title.

We are working closely with TV manufactures to update firmware support for Dolby Vision capabilities. Go to Settings>General>TV & Display Options>4K TV details and look for "Your TV setup supports Dolby Vision".
  • Users may notice that some titles such as Mass Effect: Legendary Edition might stop supporting Dolby Vision for Gaming after the initial release. This is expected while the feature is in Preview.
Edge (New)

  • Console browser links will not work if a user chooses the "new" browser version when prompted.
    • Workaround: Be sure to choose the "previous" version of Edge to ensure the page opens.

    • Workaround: Reboot the console and relaunch the game.
Guide

  • We are investigating reports of the audio mixer being unable to adjust chat/game audio levels.
HDMI-CEC

    • Note: Ensure that your TV supports HDMI-CEC and is also enabled before filing feedback.
Home

  • Some users have reported that the icon for a disc-based title is not appearing on the dashboard.
My Games & Apps

  • Titles in collection may incorrectly appear with a "trial" tag.
Virtual Keyboard

  • Some users have reported that the virtual keyboard is not appearing in some areas of the dashboard.
    • Workaround: Rebooting the console should resolve the issue.

I noticed the Hdmi-cec being hit or miss this past month. I was wondering if it was my tv, so I'm glad to see I'm not the only one seeing it on the preview dashboard.

I don't know of this is the right thread but I'm having trouble playing something on Edge, so I've joined up to the Insider Programme, so I can use the new version of Edge but how do I actually get access to it/download it? Thanks

Known Issues
We understand some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes. These items aren't being ignored, but it will take Xbox engineers more time to find a solution.

We're still tracking these known issues:
Apps

  • We've received some reports that video playback stops while audio continues when watching streaming content in the Disney+ app.
    • Workaround: Try pausing/restarting playback. If the behavior continues, try reboot the console and try playing the content.
Audio

  • Some users have reported that they are not hearing any audio with Dolby Atmos enabled.
Dolby Vision for Gaming

  • Some TVs do not support Dolby Vision at 120 Hz currently and will fall back to either 60 Hz or HDR.
  • Some users have reported Dolby Vision for gaming not performing as expected.
    • Note: If you encounter an issue, please make sure to check the following:
      • Ensure the TV has the latest firmware
      • Use the Xbox-provided HDMI cable that was included with the console
      • Connect the TV directly to the Xbox and try to see if the problem still persists (i.e. remove any AVRs, Soundbars, HDMI boxes, etc.)
Edge (New)

  • Console browser links will not work if a user chooses the "new" browser version when prompted.
    • Workaround: Be sure to choose the "previous" version of Edge to ensure the page opens.
  • Pins related to the new Edge browser will not work if you decide to remove your console from the Xbox System Update Preview or change your console to the Omega ring.
    • Workaround: Pins should be deleted and re-added.
  • Some users have reported some streaming content is not playing audio in the new browser.
    • Workaround: Close the appcompletelyvia thecontext menu and then reopen the app and try playback again.
Games

  • We've received reports that controller input is not working when a game is launched.
    • Workaround: Reboot the console and relaunch the game.
Guide

  • We are investigating reports of the audio mixer being unable to adjust chat/game audio levels.
HDMI-CEC

  • We've received some reports that HDMI-CEC is not working correctly.

Narrator

  • There are several sections of the dashboard that the Narrator does not currently read. We are aware of the issue and investigating.

I think it's supposed to be shown when a game or app is not downloaded, so it should prompt to download it because it's not installed. But it seems like it's not working well in this build as it's shown for most of my games and apps.
I don't know if it's new or it was there since a long time but working, so recent apps/games were indeed installed, thus no need to display it.

Wow ok, kinda happy to hear this wasn't just me yesterday. Had the same exact error, same power off at 92% update loop. Had to hold Pair + Eject, then press Power to get to the Reset Console option. That wiped my settings and account from the machine, but everything else stayed. Just had to reset it up with my MS account and we were back to normal.

Was not fun yesterday.
