Not sure what this means but in my skip ahead dashboard, references to Xbox Live (when internet is off or when uploading photos) have been replaced with 'the Xbox network' 👀

XBL Gold is still around as a name tho

Hey Xbox Insiders! We have a new Xbox Update Preview coming to the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring...

Hey Xbox Insiders! We have a new Xbox Update Preview coming to the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring. It's important we note that some updates made in these preview OS builds include background improvements that ensure a quality and stable build for Xbox consoles.

We continue to post these release notes, even when the noticeable changes to the UI are minimal, so you're aware when updates are coming to your device. Details can be found below!

System Update Details:
  • OS version released: RS_XBOX_DEV_FLIGHT\21337.1009.210317-1900
  • Available: 2 p.m. PT – March 19, 2021

System

  • Various updates to properly reflect local languages across the console
    • Note: Users participating in Preview may see "odd" text across the console, for more information go here.
Known Issues
We understand some issues have been listed in previous Xbox Insider Release Notes. These items aren't being ignored, but it will take Xbox engineers more time to find a solution.

  • We've received some reports that HDMI-CEC is not working correctly.
Home

  • Some users have reported that the icon for a disc-based title is not appearing on the dashboard.

Just had a black screen for the first time when waking up the console, it's not even an HDMI issue as my phone or PC won't even connect remotely to manage it, the console does not respond but I can hear the UI on my 5.1 sent to the TV through HDMI.

Refreshing home did nothing (press Xbox button on the controller, Menu then A), I could hear it reload though.

I could put the console to sleep (long press on the Xbox button on the controller, UP then A), wait a few seconds and wake it up again, and then I got an image and could remotely connect (I tried to see if it was a connection issue or something else).

I just installed latest Skip Ahead update, we'll see if it happens again.

Just updated and still got black screen.

What the heck kind of bug is this.
I have it. I have to change from the current HDMI to another one and back again to the previous for the return of the image. It happens to me browsing in the community tab viewing media content like videos.

I have the console plugged in to the sound bar, so I only need to change to another HDMI and go back again to fix it.

Is there a way to system-wide turn on FPS boost? Or will I have to go into each game individually and Manage the Compatibility options?

It's done by game since for some games like Fallout 4, they're adding it but it's off by default since it is a pretty big hit on image quality.

I have the exact same black screen issue on my Series X! Really annoying.

This legitimately might be the most annoying bug they've had in a while.

How long has the wishlist feature been updated? Such a nice feature for monitoring games/sales, they just need to get the layout a bit cleaner and it'll be perfect.

Ah shit. Today I got back into Alpha skip ahead for future betas and demos and now I found out that in this firmware they already fixed the trick to get FPS boost games which reduce the resolution to run in 4K. Now I'm thinking about removing it again, cause that's bullshit. :(
Fallout 76 runs on my LG C9 with VRR absolute super smooth 4K60 and now I either have to choose 1080p super blurry and reduced effects or 30fps and 4K.

Fantastic. Great that they fix useful bugs super fast but I still can't upload recorded HDR videos to YouTube anymore for at least half a year now.
Does anyone give a shit about that at Microsoft? No of course not.

Do we know why after all these years and updates, the amount it time it takes to search for game/app updates in My Games and Apps has never been improved. It takes upwards of 10 minutes to look for updates when I click into that section. It's frustrating.

It is weird. I usually click update, wait till the little icon spins and the press B to back out. For some reason that tends to push any updates within a minute or two. I never leave it on the Update page.

File that as a bug, that doesn't sound right. Shouldn't take more than a few seconds to manually check for updates (and obviously the console auto updates the games you play regularly as well).

I've seen a new issue and I'm not sure if it's related to updates or not. I noticed that my wired connection was dropping and re-connecting like crazy. At first I thought it was my modem/router, I restarted both like 5 times. I did a hard shut down and that seemed to do the trick for the night. The next day it was worse. I did the same routine with no luck. I noticed I was able to use my wifi on my phone while the xbox wasn't connected, I did a speed test and everything seemed normal. I disconnected my external hard drive because it typically happened whil it was updating, with no luck. Someone on the world wide web said that they had the problem and were able to fix it by switching from insta-on to energy saving. This absolutely solved my issue, but it isn't ideal.

I'm curious if this is a preview bug because there was a survey in the preview app. Anyone notice anything like this?

Quick Resume UI is nice, it's like a custom group in Games and Apps, you can move it and pin it to the home, you see which games are in Quick Resume currently (start a game if non is shown).

kegxv2V.png

You can't pin a game to stay in QR, but you can remove them by pressing Menu on it and select "Remove from Quick Resume".

Also, notice the new "Quick Resume" flag in the top right when a game supports it.

Audio passthrough, you say? Wow. Huge for the home theater crowd. Also, when will we ever see Dolby Atmos again? Lol. It's seriously been 2 months since it's been broken in skip ahead. Maybe this passthrough option was part of delay. Audio quality has always been a tad troublesome on Xbox. Hopefully this means they have finally started addressing those issues.

From 'quake area to big OH.
Last update with strange behavior.

Boot up and no audio.
Hold and select restart.
After a minute a pop up asks to confirm.
Now it's no video and stuck turning off.
Forced off.
Controller turns on without console.
Had to manually power on and pair devices.

AND MY GROUPS ARE ALL GONE.

Another reboot has fixed it.

From 'quake area to big OH.
Not sure why, but og one is getting slower. Not up is black screen for 1-2 minutes, and holding button on controller brings up power with no options.

Funny thing is the console asks to go online, says I'm not connected but youtube works etc.

Various fixes to game captures for Auto HDR compatible titles.

I know you can't upload (4K) HDR videos recorded with Series X to YouTube anymore since December because some firmware update or anything just broke or destroyed the codec and YouTube straight rejects these videos with error messages.
But that can't be this since it happened to everything HDR and not just auto HDR. 🤔

I'm hoping for half a year for that being fixed but nobody ever cared and it's so annoying for me... I really hope it's this problem.
