They fucked up royally out of the gate, but most corporations when they do price increases they just hide behind the power of the weekend and let things fade on Monday.

At the end of the day, though, prices remain the same and Xbox has finally reached the bare minimum of its competitors of letting F2P games be truly F2P.

So ... task failed successfully? Either way, it's the best possible outcome.

Damn they did not want a repeat of the xbone reveal. Good on them to reverse it and add true free to play, though I suspect this was the plan from the start.

Edit: read through it more carefully, seems like the price reversal is only for existing customers for another year, in other cases the price will still increase. Lame

turns out the weekend dup approach doesnt work in a community that doesn't log off on weekends.

It kind of makes me wonder if they had a feeling this would happen. But someone high up was like "no do it anyways" but always had this change in their back pocket if it blew up like of course it did.

No, but somebody on the team 100% prepped them on this beforehand. There's no doubt. There's no way they would've made such a sweeping chagne so fast

EDIT: Also - doing this in a pandemic is actually stupid because every;thing is amplified because everyone is on their phones and youtube. like...just wait until the world is back and funcitoning
