Tempted by Batman Return to Arkham but the games still run at something absurd like a locked 45fps, right?

Not buying them if that's the case, absolutely bizarre decision.

So, how's MGSV? Still debating whether or not to grab it but I keep hearing how bad/disappointing the story is

I spent more than a hundred hours on the X1 version. It has great gameplay and the OST is pretty good as well while everything else is a huge disappointment.

The main issue I had was the pressure sensitive buttons, primarily to cancel a shot.

🎶It's been a while🎶, since I fired it up. I'd say it looks about how I remember it, so maybe slightl cleaner than the PS2 version? I can't say that that I was SUPER impressed by the looks or anything but, again, I didn't make it very far at all before giving up. I want to say the game looked cleaner than the cutscenes? But honestly I really can't say for sure. 😕

It's supposedly pretty clean on 1X but the resolution is still the same as on 360.

That was tempting as well but I don't think it will as I think you're right about the locked 45fps. Also, Xbox store doesn't state it is in 4k; however, it does is say One X enchanced though.

:xb1: Fallout 4 Season Pass - $19.99 - 60% off
:xb1: Fallout 4: Game of the Year Edition - $19.79 - 67% off

Any point in buying the Season Pass over the GOTY?

The only thing holding me back from buying Skyrim is I'm assuming it'll end up on Game Pass permanently once the MS/Bethesda deal is confirmed. I may be wrong though.

That seems like a fairly decent bet -- yeah, it might not happen, but it would surprise me if so. Plus, there's no way the game doesn't go on sale plenty more times in the future as well. So you should be fiiiine.

For me, playing Skyrim "the right way" (lol) is kind of the tipping point right now that's getting me to strongly consider grabbing an Xbox Series X first and a PS5 next year, so if I do go this route I'm grabbing this, haha.

Picked up Lego Speed Champions so far, might pick up RE2, Hitman 2, and maybe some of those older Tom Clancy games.

I gotta say though the Lego DLC is somewhat disappointing. The map is enjoyable to drive through, but there's only 4 Lego cars. Sure it's my fault for not checking beforehand, but it still kinda stings.

I need to read up on whether the singleplayer campaign is worth playing.
Random thoughts from around half way through:-

  • Flying around is really fun
  • The world and lore is relatively deep with lots of setup for later stuff
  • Expectations were very high, for am iron man destiny loot game PLUS am amazing story...it didn't meet those
  • Roaming the world and just randomly shooting things is fun for awhile
  • Combat is fun but I think will get repetitive for quite a lot of people over the whole story
  • Damage relies on combos, of applying different effects. If you're playing solo, as you get into later missions, you need to make sure you have a primer and detonator abikity

This is a damn good sale! Is this the usual quality of xbox sales or just a special time of year?

So far I have bought:

Life is Strange: Before the Storm
Rise of the Tomb Raider
Control Ultimate Edition.

Thinking of going back and buying:

Resident Evil 3
Crash Team Racing
Spyro Trilogy

So just how bad is the Silent Hill HD Collection? It's like £8 or something and I really, really, really want to replay those two games but if that version is terrible maybe I'll just pass on it. 🤔

Why not wait for the December sale? There will likely be a new Xbox rewards punchcard for spending $50.

None. This is one of the worst quirks from this gen.

Anyone have any impressions on Civilization 6 for consoles? I don't think my laptop could run it to my satisfaction and I would be totally fine with a Civ: Revolution type of experience.

Is it worth it without the expansions or are they necessary at this point?

Civ VI is just the full PC game on console, not at all redesigned like Civ Rev was.

Even with an Xbox digital library of like 300 games, I am finding it difficult to find more than a few things to pickup even though this sale is pretty good/aggressive. There are just SO MANY times in the last 6 months or so when I bought something deeply discounted and it showed up pretty quickly on Xbox Gamepass that I am starting to really hesitate to buy things because of that?

This time I am getting:
-Control Ultimate Edition (because I have a pretty complete save of the base game, won't play the xpacs until the update hits, and if there is no 60FPS mode I will probably play on PC).
-Tales of Vesperia - cheap and I like having JRPGs in case I run into a need to just sort of slide into that type of game.
- Div2 WONY expansion - have it on PC and I think I am on the final mission. it is so cheap I figure I would buy it in case they come to their senses and add cross-play/progression and/or a next gen patch. I don't really get too into Division end-game, but there is so much to the world I frequently go back and revisit it.

Thanks. I think I'll wait until it's even cheaper on sale.

I enjoy Forza Horizon 4, how's the Expansions? I'm thinking about picking up the bundle.

I walked away with the following (so far):

Control Ultimate Edition
Life is Strange Season 2 (I just did a replay of the first and finally got around to playing Before the Storm)
DOOM Slayers Collection (I wanted DOOM 1-3 and I already have Doom 2016, but it was only a couple bucks more to get the collection over each title individually.)
Splinter Cell: Double Agent (I have the physical 360 version, but always heard the Xbox version was better.)
Splinter Cell: Blacklist (Outside of the above, I have all the other Splinter Cell physical games, but not this one.)

Anyone have any impressions on Civilization 6 for consoles? I don't think my laptop could run it to my satisfaction and I would be totally fine with a Civ: Revolution type of experience.

It runs well and is a blast, if you love Civilization. I've read the expansions bring some good mechanics and changes to the table, but I've only played the base game. If you're playing on a Series console, then the loading times are vastly improved! On the One X the map would load for me, off an external SSD, quite some time after the narrator reads the loading blurb. On the Series X, the game loads right as the first paragraph is read.

The controls take a little bit to get used to, but they did an excellent job of mapping what is a mouse-driven UI.

I've lost a lot of time to Civilization VI across the PC, iOS, and Xbox. It's a great game and especially so at the Black Friday price!

From 'quake area to big OH.
I bought Doom Eternal before it was on gamepass. Never played it, but traded it in.

Now I'm considering buying the Deluxe for $30. Is the expansion content worth it? Or just stick to free gamepass.

So does Microsoft every add additional games to their sales? I keep checking to see if Assassin's Creed Valhalla is on the sale list (and not attached to some other dog). Is this a waste of my time? And I need to wait for the next sale?

Thank you both. Will probably pick it up after I get paid this week.

I've had NBA Jam on fire in my wishlist for ages, but I keep thinking EA is going to produce a newer version any day now. I'm not sure how much they can do with the formula but the rosters are light years out of date.

I've been playing this pretty much nightly. I don't follow basketball tbh, but the rosters don't impact my enjoyment. It's a blast, reminds me of lining up at the arcade throwing quarters away, and also how magical it was to play this on SNES in my friends garage with all the neighborhood kids way back when. Worth the $5 for sure.

Bought Dark Souls: Remastered ... again.

Played the 360 version on Xbox One, never completed the game.
Bought the Switch version, never completed the game.
Now i bought the Xbox One version to play on my XSX. Maybe I'm finally going to finish it.

Kinda hate myself for buying it. I wanna be good at SoulsBorne games but the only one I ever felt comfortable with was Bloodborne, which ... I never completed.

Backwards compat really is something else. Playing Dragon's Dogma with a smooth framerate in HDR is a revelation.

Yeah thanks, I played the wii version a few years ago and the gameplay hook is timeless. I follow the NBA so rosters may be a bit more important to me, but I may just bite. I remember there being some buzz over the the 25th anniversary a few years ago, and I've always had in the back of my mind that a new version was coming.

I played through them on XB1 despite owning the pc ports and they were fine and a lot more convenient to play. I'm not super obsessed with the games, so the things people complain about didn't bother me or I didn't notice them in the first place.

Digital Foundry has called Return to Arkham's One X enhancement one of the most disappointing with both games still being 1080p.

Arkham Asylum is 1080p 45fps.
Arkham City is 1080p 30fps in story mode and 1080p 60fps in Riddler Challenges.

I've never played a minute of any Splinter Cell and am thinking about grabbing them all.

How do they all run on a Series X?
