Xbox is "shifting focus" from studio acquisitions to a new phase of "execution and delivery," its studios boss told media at X019 on Thursday.
In the past 18 months Xbox has aggressively expanded its portfolio of first-party studios via acquisitions and studio launches, ahead of the release of its next-gen console Project Scarlett in 2020.

With MS stopping the acquisition of studios how do you feel about the current state of their first party and the future it brings going forward?

Seems logical. Once you buy studios it's probably a good idea to let them make original content. I'm sure we'll see the first real turnout in 2021-22.

I mean it was gonna stop at some point. I think next to studio's the publishing team needed to step up also.
They already showed one game now. And i expect alot more next gen. So combine that with 15 studio's. They are in a good place content wise.

20by20 was always hyper-optimistic.

Let's see what y'all can do XGS.

They have enough studios now. They're still partnering up with new external studios too (like Dontnod). I don't think they're going to have any content issues going into the next gen.

They better fucking start delivering after years of lip service and disappointment. Especially with a new console around the corner.

I feel great about it. I'm in the Xbox ecosystem from the PC side. I really so no reason to add a console from any maker going into next-gen.

Makes sense. Their portfolio is incredibly impressive at this point, especially in terms of its diversity.

The studios they've acquired are some of the best in the world in my opinion, notably Playground, Ninja Theory and Obsidian, so they're really in a great spot right now.

Obviously they have a hole in Asia/Japan but it's something that can always be added later.

Didn't they say if the opportunity comes up that they will still acquire studios?

They got a great lineup of studios, focusing on making their output great makes complete sense.

Great. Although I play mostly 3rd party on the xbox….I'm interested to see what their newly formed studios do. Especially the initiative.

Disappointed that Double Fine didn't make a showing at the event.

They should just grow what they have. They have enough studios to put out a decent amount of games yearly if planned right

They've gotten great grabs. Now it's time to massacre the Jedi Order and deliver packages as Sam Bridges.

Hopefully the acquisition obsession calms down a bit after this news. Used to be a daily reader of the XGS OT but had to take a break after every third post was about what studio MS would acquire next, often being completely unrealistic or a big successful publisher.

MS just needs to pull a Sony and release two big games a year and then let 3rd parties do their thing. Build up that library of games. They have the studios now, just got to make the delivery.

It's not like the studios have been sitting on their hands. All this really means is no more acquisitions for the time being.

Don't just say your ready to deliver. Actually do it. We're waiting. Until then this is just PR.

I would not rule out future acquisitions but yeah, makes sense that MS is now focusing on getting their current studios whatever they need to realize their visions.

I think you should do your research and just going to leave it at that.

Yeah he definitely does , they are not even close, until they deliver this is PR fluff. Not on a even playing field. resetera is trying to switch the narrative for Microsoft and not even for valid reasons. When they deliver sure, this is turning into reseteraFaqs
