Xbox is "shifting focus" from studio acquisitions to a new phase of "execution and delivery," its studios boss told media at X019 on Thursday.
In the past 18 months Xbox has aggressively expanded its portfolio of first-party studios via acquisitions and studio launches, ahead of the release of its next-gen console Project Scarlett in 2020.

With MS stopping the acquisition of studios how do you feel about the current state of their first party and the future it brings going forward?

Seems logical. Once you buy studios it's probably a good idea to let them make original content. I'm sure we'll see the first real turnout in 2021-22.

Makes sense. Their portfolio is incredibly impressive at this point, especially in terms of its diversity.

The studios they've acquired are some of the best in the world in my opinion, notably Playground, Ninja Theory and Obsidian, so they're really in a great spot right now.

Obviously they have a hole in Asia/Japan but it's something that can always be added later.

That is a really small window though. Assuming the target launch is November 2020. I think they have settled in and are going to focus on developing launch games with who they have now.

Hopefully the acquisition obsession calms down a bit after this news. Used to be a daily reader of the XGS OT but had to take a break after every third post was about what studio MS would acquire next, often being completely unrealistic or a big successful publisher.

I have all three of them. I have all the games practically from all the of them. The last game I finished was Detroit and the last game I bought was Luigi's Mansion. Maybe you should research.
