It was just as bad. More IAPs for F2P games. Basically they have a huge push to promote Sea of Thieves, I guess.

The shadow drop was a mistake, he's said. AoE 2 is releasing tomorrow and we've known about this for a while now.
Ooooor maybe Reach is dropping tomorrow...
MS stopped doing this a while ago. At least for very far off releases.
I'm not sure if it's the best idea for a brand-new IP, but we'll see if it works out for Rare this time.
And I think it's the right move. Let people know that games and more games are in the works.

Its never the right move. It deflates hype and peoples expectations blow out because of limited information.
Those are the negatives, yes, but there are also positives.
It let's people know what's on the horizon and it keeps people excited about what's next. It also puts to bed rumours that can spread and turn into something much worse. It's also been working well for plenty of people in the last few years.
Yup, it builds hype and gives people more confidence in the brand. MS needs to start doing it more now that they have so many studios.

That sounds fine to me, still curious to see it and check it out on Game Pass later then. I am hoping that Game Pass provides a way for some of these types of games to find an audience too.
