The difference between X and Nemesis is that engaging with X is an exercise in futility. Nemesis on the other hand actually rewards you putting an effort in noticing him.

Not only does Nemesis disappear on that area once you put him down, he also gives you an incentive via weapon parts and first aid spray containers.

Easy modes in action games? Sure. Removing the whole point of a game from the game? Why? Why even play the game at that point?
The point is entertaining yourself.

I might find revisiting the classic areas, soaking up the atmosphere of the ravaged city... more fun than repetitive hunter game play. Even better if like the OP says, you can still get the nemesis in scripited set pieces and bosses, without him just forcing me to take a different route every so often and boring hunter gameplay. It may make the game a lot easier but at least it might be entertaining to me then.

No, Mr X was a great way to test you in RE2. But I won't fault people for thinking it's too much pressure or something. It's similar to how some people can't play Majora's Mask because of the constant ticking clock.

I wonder if games like Alien Isolation or outcast actually got the inspiration from original resident evil 3. Re3 is basically the hide and seek game

While I don't doubt that it was an inspiration to future games, I've seen games do the whole hide and seek thing much earlier and without the combat. Like Clocktower for instance is a much more apt comparison to Alien Isolation and Outlast.

I'm sure they'll be a setting to turn him down .

Nemesis was an annoyance in the original but he looks like a relentless pain in the ass in the remake. It screams frustration, not fun. So I probably won't be playing it. If I could mod it out I would.

Sadly the teams that worked in these remakes did not understand what made the original games great back in the day. Both Mr x and nemesis were hard and menacing but you could take them down and be rewarded for that. While the Outlast inspired mr x and nemesis from the remake are downright annoying.

Imo, if you don't like nemesis just don't buy the game, as it is clearly not appealing to you.

I also skip many from soft games because i don't like their difficulty, it's fine.

Why even bother playing it in the first place if you mod him out? That's removing the entire conceit of the game.

The game is completely built around him. I wouldn't mod the game to make it worse.

Initially I was thinking that maybe I would (I don't like that kind of high-pressure stuff), but actually I'd probably be much better off just using less dramatic mods to increase health/ammo etc.

I think the game should uninstall itself if it detects you installing that mod.

May as well go play Clock Tower without Scissor Man

I HATED Mr. X and it was my first time playing any RE game but would never wish somebody to play it without him. That footsteps tension is half the freaking game.

Bring it on RE3. I might take my sweet time but will power through.

I don't understand the annoying comment. The game gives you so many paths and routes around the building that you almost never have to engage with him.

Mr. X is such a boon to RE2 that I can't imagine removing him. He's not scary, but he does add a delightful degree of tension and urgency to my routing when he's around that I ended up missing him when he was gone. I can't wait to see how Olympic track and field superstar Nemesis over here handles.

For people wanting him to be modded out;

You need to be hunted down by Nemesis. Capcom has a real one. Not kidding. He is real. And he will hunt you down.

I'm not gonna tell people how to enjoy their games but for me, modding of almost any kind is sacrilegious and kills the intent of the game.

I'll remove Nemesis if there's a mod to play as Akuma.

Then I'll remove him properly.

The fact that Capcom hasn't capitalized on those old April Fools jokes and rumors with RE bothers me a bit.

People can do what they want with their game but... Nemesis is a major part of the game design. The developers designed the game around him so a big no from me.

Lol no, the only time i'd ever do that is if I wanted to check the details in the environments and such without being disrupted by him (assuming he gets really annoying)...but that would only be after at least 2 playthroughs.

Maybe on a third of fourth playthrough just for curiosity's sake.

But then again I never get to 3rd and 4th playthroughs of anything

Sure. Remove the Colossus bosses from Shadow of the Colossus and remove the tetris blocks from Tetris while you were at it too.

That's my assessment as well.

Edit:
Sadly the teams that worked in these remakes did not understand what made the original games great back in the day.
I don't have the time to develop my point, but I agree with this premise. The current batch of REmakes don't really capture the spirit of the original games.

No way. That first play through of Resi 2 remake was incredible because of Mr X. It made the game far more intense once he appeared. Can't wait for that to be ramped up in Resi 3 with Nemesis.

I wanted to vote for the third option, but couldn't bring myself to select such a cringey, weirdly-written choice. So I didn't vote.

I've never played RE3 but this does sound like a "timer" or "escort" type of annoyance in terms of game design, the way some people describe it.
So if their motivation to play is nostalgic and just visiting the old places to see the facelifts, I totally understand.

I wouldn't mod it out myself, but I get it. People mod it because that mechanic isn't fun to them. I'll be passing on RE3 because of this. I'll catch Max play it or something.

When such a huge part of the game revolves around this enemy/character being present... no. It would just be a fucking tech demo without him.
