I wonder if we can close and reopen with a new thread/poll
yeah, basically where I'd stand on the issue. Like if you strip away every iconic aspect of the franchise, then you're basically just attaching the brand name to something completely unrelated.A Star Wars story without any lightsabers is fine, the Star Wars universe without any lightsabers is not.
In what way would this be Star Wars? That's just another IP.
This is how I feel. Best weapon everA Star Wars story without any lightsabers is fine, the Star Wars universe without any lightsabers is not.
I doubt they would ever do that in a mainline movie, but I'm more than welcome to no lightsabers.
I don't think one appeared so far in Mandalorian and it didn't even matter.
PS: I hate when polls are the opposite of the thread's name, grinds my gears.
Fair enough. I'll instead say "it's way too narrow for my liking or general interest."Maybe that well-defined scope is part of the secret to its success.
it does not. Warhammer 40k is cool but it's like the opposite of the heart of Star Wars.
That was the best part though...That's basically what Rogue One was, minus the Vader at the end. It's fine.
lulzI couldn't possibly imagine such a thing appearing on Friday mornings at 3 a.m. ET for eight weeks in a row, with a commitment to a second season confirmed.
I don't need the force either.
The SW universe needs to take some notes from Warhammer 40k and branch out. Like, way the fuck out.
With the Skywalker saga coming to an end, the future movies could be set anywhere. Suppose it's in another galaxy, where Jedi, Sith, and their lightsabers aren't a thing. Would that be acceptable to you?
I agree with the idea of branching out and telling stories far more expansive. My biggest complaint is they shrunk the universe with the latest films. Diminished what came before it. Star wars has a very large universe with many happenings. Sadly well never see something that isn't very much "safe". Mandalorian is probably on the edge of their comfort zone.I don't need the force either.

Just you watch his beskar steel block a lightsaber

Yup. Rogue One was my favorite Star Wars movie outside of Empire, and the 3 episodes I saw of Mandalorian were awesome.
