Well it's almost 1am here. Was in bed, felt something cold on my leg. Grabbed at it and it turned out to be a pretty big roach. Chased it for a bit and killed it.

What's your horror story Era? I can't sleep now so why not fuel the terror more.

One time I was on my laptop sitting on my bed in the middle of the night when a piece of my bangs broke off of my hair, crawled down the bridge of my nose and fell onto my illuminated laptop keyboard. Apparently a house centipede had fallen off the ceiling of my bedroom in the dark, landed directly in my hair, then ran down the front of my face to get away from me.

I was once laying on my stomach in bed using my laptop, felt a small thing crawl on me so I looked... white baby spider, killed it and moved on..... felt it again, another one... killed it again and looked up.... out of the ceiling fan were hundreds of baby spiders that had just hatched I assume and we're making their way down to me, I ran to the shower and spent an hour in there........ literally the most terrifying moment of my life.

You scoundrels.

NO
NONONONONONONONONONONONO

I'm reading these but keeping an eye on the roach I killed. Is it really dead? Is it the only one? Gross.

Giant Hawaian centipede. They also grab you and try coil around you when they bite. And they're surprisingly strong. And then you never sleep ever again.

A tropical snail, so they're like the size of a soda can.

This was in Taiwan, when I fell asleep outside, and woke up with it slowly scurrying along my leg to get to the other side of the chair.

I once woke up and a spider fell from my chest to the floor. It was annihilated almost immediately.

Had a school excursion about 15 years back and our group got savaged by leeches. A few people pulled them off, unaware that doing so can leave the mouth embedded beneath your skin.

Okay at least they're contained because that sounds horrifying.

Oh shit. I like mantises but if that happened I don't think I'd go outside ever again. Sounds beyond dreadful

I like them too but not on me lol. I pulled my shirt over my head as fast/gently as possible and it fell into my shirt and walked away.

Not me, but when were in Guatemala on Lake Atitlan for a retreat my wife had a scorpion crawl on her hand while we were playing a card game. Was terrifying and it didn't even happen to me. haha. It didn't sting her, but we did catch it and the let it go away from our place.

When I was around six years old I went to stay with my dad for the weekend. Between marriages he would rent a room from an eccentric old man who lived in a stone cottage in the woods. There was no air conditioning so the guy just left the doors open during the summer. There was also no bed for me, so I slept on a mattress on the ground. One night the mother of all wolf spiders climbed on my face and bit me in my sleep, waking me up. I've been terrified of spiders ever since.

On the other hand, moths regularly land on me and just chill there. But I find them adorable, so we're cool.

When my mum was little she was playing and found an old WW2 gas mask in her parent's or grandparent's garden shed. She put it on without realising it was full of earwigs and ended up with a lot of them crawling all over her face and in her hair. She still has quite a phobia of them now because of that.

When I was young one of my neighbors had a pet tarantula that got loose and crawled onto me when I was outside. If you don't know what urticating hairs are, have a look on Wikipedia; I had them in patches on my stomach and knuckles and have scars from them to this day.

I had that once too. Went to bed, had a spider fall on me. Turned on the light to see my ceiling was full of little spiders. I took time to escort all of them down to the ground so they weren't falling on me all night though.

I don't need these thoughts tonight ;_;

I'm sorry. It depends, I guess. I only see one in my apartment once or twice a year. And they're either dead or dying because the apartment below (street level) are terminating them and I suppose they're trying to escape?

I woke up to a rat on me once when I was little. It was down at the foot of my bed and I could just barely see it in the dark. I thought "Is that a ra..." and it took that moment to start darting up my leg. I kicked it into the wall and it fell and scurried off. A couple days later our cat came trotting into the living room with a live rat in its mouth that i think that was it. I got it to drop the rat into a box, closed it up, and dumped it out at the end of our yard, but it just laid there like it was dead. It was gone the next day so it was either pretending or something got it.

Was in bed, at the point where you're almost sleep but not quite there. I felt something crawling on my chest so I pull the sheet up and look down to see a centipede crawling along my chest.

So I threw the sheet off me and then did something like this:

i had a spider crawl in my ear.

that was fun!

I had a moth fly in my ear and buzz around in there for over two hours. Had to go to the er to get the damn thing out.

Then in high school, I was just casually sitting at my desk and got an itch, flicked my neck and a giant roach fell to the ground and scampered away.

Something like this.

Needless to say, I am terrified of bugs.

Creepiest? Centipede. Hands down.
I love spiders, get along fine with wasps, and never overreact to insects showing up where they dont belong... But fucking centipedes disgust me to no end. Why can't they be more like millipedes? Those dudes are great.

Worst?
I woke up one day in my old apartment with a dozen or so of these bigass carpenter ants gnawing on my arm. I had fallen asleep with that arm against the wall with a window on it and they apparently just happened to file in while I was sleeping. I've been stung and bitten by plenty of different things in the past, and that was far and away the worst feeling out of any of them. They are damn hard to get off too... Moved shortly after they started spraying for them.

one time when I was about 12 or something I stepped on a fairly large slug with my barefeet accidentally and it squirmed and made a slugly sound.

I have this memory from when I'm like 8 or something where a giant grasshopper jumped on my face. And it was as big as my entire face, like i'd have to pick it up my whole fist if it was dead. I'm sure I'm exaggerated that memory in my mind overtime or something, but it was definitely a really big grasshopper.

I was bare foot playing in the garden as a small child in South Africa and accidently disturbed a red ants nest. They swarmed all over my feet and wouldn't stop biting me until I jumped into the pool.

Some spider when I was half asleep in a dark room except for my phone. Didn't realise what it was at first.

I'm not normally scared of spiders (no poisonous breeds here and easily killed) or whatever but that freaked me the fuck out.

Big spider. It was on my bedroom wall and I tried to knock it off with a rolled up copy of the Beano, whereupon the spider used the Beano as a bridge, ran down it, onto my bare arm, INTO THE SLEEVE OF MY T-SHIRT, down my bare squeaking chest beneath my t-shirt and out onto the floor.

I actually died. I'm dead.

The sleep paralysis-induced visions of grey aliens I get every other month feel like they're crawling up my chest and hovering over my face.

It was really horrible at first but I got used to it.

When I was in kindergarten, my brother and I were at lunch and we noticed on the gutter of the main building there was a row of bees lined up just sitting there. We told the nearest teacher and then went back to class. A little while later the teacher said we all had to go outside. Soon as she opened the door it was like a straight up wall of bees. I'll never understand why they made us all go outside, but I swear you couldn't see more than a few feet in front of you there were so many. Turns out there were 2 enormous bee hives in the building and they had broke loose and bees went everywhere. Shit, just typing this out I can feel them crawling all over me. I've had a phobia with bees ever since. Thanks teach'!

A giant mosquito that died and landed on my plate while I was eating at my grandmother's. I had no idea until everyone was staring at my shirt. Lol
