I have been playing this game since 1995....it's my 2nd longest game ever played (1st is Mario)

I like how team17 mixed war with fun and laught...

I guess it's one if firsts games to offer diversity in characters

but most of critics rate it at 6/10

Maybe it needs famous publisher to be more popular..

Legit was looking at getting WMD with my friends to play something simple and fun. Had good memories of 1 and 2 back in the day.

Uh..... okay.

I do think the reception for W.M.D. was way more muted and mild as the game deserved though. It's a cool new 2D worms following the best titles instead of trying to reinvent the wheel too much. Too bad the community is forever tethered to Armaggeddon.

I loved every Worms game. Even the bad ones. I want a new 3D Worms game. Don't @ me.

It's a great game (series), but they were never able to really advance it in any significant ways. Worms feels like Worms, which is great if you're looking for it but bad if you're reviewing games in general. They tried to move to 3d and that didn't really work out, then they came back to 2d and fans were happy but after that it just seems like Worms.

It does seem like Worms games should have done incredibly well on mobile devices at some point in the past decade though. Team17 fortunately is still going and has an excellent library of smaller games that they've published.

On the bright side this made me realize I never actually installed Worms WMD that I got through a bundle a while back, so +1 to the Steam player count I guess.

Okay, I feel really stupid, maybe you guys can help.

I fucking love Worms. Some of the most fun I've had with videogames was Worms World Party on Dreamcast. But it seems like every single time I buy a new Worms game, the netcode absolutely blows and the only modes people are playing are ones with, like, starting loadouts of 500 concrete donkeys.

Are there any Worms games for consoles right now that just work and have normal playlists?

Nobody rate Worms at 6/10 lol What the hell OP. It's a well regarded series no matter how you tackle the matter.

But i agree it should be more popular, probably one of my fav series for multiplayer.

A Battle Royale Worms could be great.

Worms WMD is currently the best in the series. All they need is to add crafted weapons to crate drops and then it'd be perfect.

My friends and I had so much fun playing Worms Armageddon in college. Some of the best couch co-op out there.

I agree, I always felt like Worms has been an underappreciated series, I have fond memories of playing in Ropers and BnG ladders back in the day for Worms 2. Haven't played the series much since World Party, but i've alwayed enjoyed the games, even the 3D ones were ok.

I cut my teeth on Scorched Earth and when worms came out, it was just such a natural progression to the genre so I've always been a fan.

I think Worms as a series is appreciated, but the prevailing opinion is that it peaked a long time ago with Armageddon (or World Party) and they just haven't been able to match it since.

Commercially, Worms is an INCREDIBLY successful franchise.

It just hasn't had much output since WMD in 2016. You could argue that it has fallen off the radar, but it certainly isn't underrated.

this is definitely the feeling that i think is most common. Probably because in between World Party and now, things tended to feel same-y (barring the 3d entries). but again, at least for me, WMD is better than Armageddon and World Party.

Worms is great, issue being that the formula essentially peaked by the third/fourth entry and most of the games that have matched them in quality essentially boil down to "Armageddon but with a fresh coat of paint".

The 3D games were the last time it felt like the series was exciting to follow, in spite the shortcomings made in the transition. But yeah the games that come out are still good.

I don't think I've played Worms since the Amiga days, it was a lot of fun to play with friends, hilarious even.

Anyone remember Scorched Earth for PC DOS? That was also a lot of fun, albeit with simpler graphics.

Vehicles + Crafting in WMD strikes a good balance for me. It means you've got to prioritize what you're collecting with drones. And in all honesty, WMD has the best of the paint oats - the art style finally looks its best. 2.5D was always the worst looking IMO.
