Wisconsin's top court turned away a lawsuit from President Trump that sought to have the state's election results decertified, yet another blow to Trump's long-shot legal efforts to undo President-elect Joe Biden's victory.

The Wisconsin Supreme Court said on Thursday that the lawsuit filed this week would be best suited for one of the state's lower courts.

Trump filed the lawsuit on Tuesday, asking the state Supreme Court to toss out more than 200,000 votes in Democratic-leaning counties that he alleges were illegally cast.

"President Trump's Petition seeks nothing less than to overturn the will of nearly 3.3 million Wisconsin voters," the brief reads. "It is a shocking and outrageous assault on our democracy. The relief he seeks is wrong as a matter of law, incorrect as a matter of fact, and mistaken as a matter of procedure."

All the Republicans on the court wanted to take up the case too. The flip earlier this year saved us.

It's stunning to think of all the time and resources that are being wasted on this entire farce.

That last part in the OP, man I fucking love how hard these judges are blasting trumps bs into orbit with their rulings, just out right telling him he isn't only incorrect, but is wrong under the law and under a democracy, they just aren't taking his shit at all.

Honestly if this is the only level of legal professionals he can get to work with him now then trump really is fucked if a state does decide to go after him, these lawsuits are like the ramblings of a teenager who watched a bunch of bad TV show court cases and decided they could be a lawyer without any actual skill. I guess that's how things go when you spend you entire adult life refusing to pay the lawyers who represent you in hundreds of lawsuits you've had to fight, bad time for trump to suddenly realise that there are only a certain number of lawyers worth using that exist in the usa......I'm starting to think this is why he had to resort to having the DoJ do everything for him when they shouldn't have been, no lawyer was gonna take the cases he's fighting so having bill "the president has unlimited power" barr be stooge helped him a lot, too bad that doesn't work when you're not president huh dumbass?

Note this will be appealed to SCOTUS.

Note that SCOTUS will throw this case back into the dumpster fire from whence it arose.

IMO, it's a wrap for Don. If the super right wing Wisconsin Supreme Court is calling him out so bluntly then he's out of allies.

I'm curious as to why there's no real standard in bringing these cases to the courts. At a certain point they have to be considered frivolous and a waste of time.

You would think that would be the end of it but if course Trumpers here don't see it that way. They either think 1: this is all part of the plan to get to SCOTUS or 2: this is just a procedural ruling that they need to file in a lower court and then appeal to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Except two things. 1: Governor Evers already signed the certificate of ascertainment for Bidens electors and 2: those electors vote in less than 11 days. They think they have the time to refile, argue the case, and then go back and win the Wisconsin SC even though the 4 justice majority here that voted against them EVISCERATED their arguments.

The major suprise here is that Brian Hagedorn, the conservative that has voted with the 3 liberal justices a surprising number of times is less like Scalia than Republicans hoped and Democrats feared and more like Roberts.

Can you link to an article that talks about this?

Three conservative judges voted to hear this case. Three liberal judges, and Justice Hagedorn who apparently is a swing judge, voted to deny taking the case.

The newest judge in the Wisconsin Supreme Court, Justice Karofsky, is liberal-leaning and replaced Justice Kelly who was Republican-leaning (and a member of the Federalist Society) in an April election.

So it's the flip in the last justice that secured us this win.

That is fucking terrifying

The only positive way of looking at it is they knew it wouldn't be heard so they just voted that way to stay on party message. But even that is really bad.
