I really need to get back on Duolingo... I did it solid for a month and a half a year ago and then some tragic life events threw it to the side against my will. :(
I'm really curious about when this thing pivoted into that sort of territory. I could've sworn it was seen as some harmless fun back when it was called "No Fap" November. I was always under the assumption it was less "don't waste you're masculine energy on ANY sexual activity" and more "lol don't fap to anime you nerd"
It was never harmless fun. It was always coined by very unsavoury people and then gained traction on 4chan. You know, one of the places where a majority of Alt-Right folks hang out.
For some people, yeah, but for most it's just a dumb internet challenge that is ultimately harmless to their personal world views.
I mean, do you really think the people in this video (and in turn the unknown number of other people who are similar to them) are "Incels and MRA Types" perpetuating toxic masculinity? How do you discount it when you say that No Nut November has "never" been harmless fun?
