Thinking about it, one of the issues with Cynthia is that Lucario is one of her mains so that'd cause problems. Misty I think could work well, instead of the switch out gimmick of the Pokemon Trainer, her two Pokemon, Staryu and Starmie are more closer to the Ice Climbers but instead their heavily focused on rush hit and run tactics and speed, acting like Ninja stars across the map with double team (though more fragile fighters to compensate) using rapid spin and tackle for close rapid attacks before quick retreats for bubblebeam limited range. Maybe add Psyduck or one of her other Pokemon in two add more gimmicks or as an Final Smash?

Eh, at that point I would prefer someone that uses a variety of different pokémons instead of a gym leader, which is why Cynthia works. I guess a rival character like N could also work?

Is this usable on the gamepass version? I was thinking of trying it as I never finished it after loosing my saves halfway in.

I don't know if its changed recently but, I tried modding a gamepass game on PC a few months ago and, it seemed nearly impossible. The install folders are completely locked down via permissions and, there is no good way to just unlock every thing and mess with the game files.

I spent hours trying to change an text file in the Forager install before just giving up. And for refrence, it takes me <1min to do the same thing with a steam game.

Damn, thanks. Wonder it its due to being tied to Achievements.

That Smash thread is soooo bad. It's gonna get locked at the trajectory the discourse is going

Like I said on the reveal thread, like their is another woman in Smash but yeah, the design is very silly and the boob socks are eye-rolling, I feel like I've been nulled somewhat from fighting games and thought it wasn't too bad at first but then really looking at it, their sillier the designs are.

Is this like how they were in Xenoblade 2 or are these toned down from there like what happened to Bayonetta?

Probably, but that isn't surprising. I guess masks are falling off.
i guess, stated this in the pyra smash thread which is the one i thought we were talking about. xenoblade threads are like this on era, someone started a fire than someone else comes in and throws thermite on it, and the wildfire insues

before anyone saying this i am not talking about that, i am talking about people who aren't saying her outfit makes her look like a stripper, I am saying there are people saying she is and i quote a "sex doll"
Nah, you're good, I wasn't talking about you lol
It's just people coming up with the wildest takes to try to criticize people who have rightfully a problem with the designs, and now try to spin it as the people in this thread are the "true problem".

I know the people in this thread aren't the problem, the people in this thread while criticizing designs try to see the character underneath. It's okay to criticize the design, you can say the character looks like a stripper or a sex doll before simply crossing the line into mysogony, It's when you start saying the characters are strippers and sex dolls ignoring the character you in my opinion crossed the from simple criticisms to mysogony, atleast for me. am i wrong to feel this?

Maybe it's just me, but every time I see a character with a chest designed like Pyra/Mithra I cant help but think it looks more like a scrotum than breasts. They have scrotum chest.

You are right and you should not be afraid to say it. Especially with how videogame development works it often happens that the person that creates the design of a character, the person who creates the personality of a character and the person that creates the plot are completely different and may have different morals and ideas of how the character should be treated.

In this topic it was repeated time after time that a fictional character can't actually choose to dress a certain way. By the same logic, every single character including Pyra and Mythra are being forced to dress a certain way by the developers, or in games with character customization, by the player.
It's perfectly fine to say "I couldn't take Velvet seriously because of what she wears".
It's another thing to assume her personality based on what she wears. That's mysoginy. The character isn't real, she doesn't have feeling and you can't slut shame a drawing, but if you assume certain things about a woman (even if fictional) because of how she dresses that says a lot about you, imho.

I don't think anyone that regularly posts here has ever attacked the character directly, but always the skeevy developers.

We are able to separate design from characterization. If people made a big deal about wanting Pyra to have a better design in Smash it must mean that her personality isn't what's seen as problematic. With a different design they would have zero problems with her.

too close to the change on mythra's probably, they still want to keep them visually distinct

If that's the concern add a little bit of fabric to cover the thighs and turn those shorts into pants.

Lightening up the mid-section is also a conspicious choice when making it darker - or at least keeping it as dark as the original model - helps disguise belly button and the jiggly bits. Plus it'd nicely mirror Mythra's design: primary colored frame, dark center versus black frame, primary colored center.

Someone made an edited version of that simpsons strippers gif but with resetera and xenoblade
They actually posted that?! I saw them post it, I hit reply to call them on their shit, but before I finished typing a response they edited it out....and rather quickly at that. I bailed out right after---so either they changed their mind again, or someone else saw it and decided to post.

I saw it posted in the smash community thread, not the Pyra announcement one. Not sure if they posted there though as I didn't enter it again.

Ah. I saw someone post it then quickly edit it out in the Pyra announcement thread. Guess I know where they got it from.
Wow

I did see people saying it is better not to post it there because "they would be banned". This makes me wonder, if they realize that it could lead to a ban, wouldn't it be better to think why that is the case? Then again, they probably don't care.

At this point, anyone that actually thinks that of people that criticize designs and anyone like people in this thread, it's clear where they stand.

True. Such a shame.

This forum has a reputation for being "progressive" but then you find that no, there is a fair share of people who don't give a damn about progress.
Yeah, its seems that alotta people on era are "progressive" up until the point that it effects something they like. I'm thinking not only of this but also the amount of people willing to overlook CDProject's transphobia because they were "hyped" about playing cyberpunk.

These people lack empathy. When someone criticizes something they love, their kneejerk reaction is to expound on how that other person is wrong instead of trying to understand, "how might they be right?"

Is it just me or do most people in the announcement thread talking about body shaming feel disingenuous as hell.
Yes. It's a very very sus thread

It's the type of thread that'll probably be a graveyard in 6 months as most decent posters are staying away or have given up. Most are now discussing the announcement either here, in the community Smash thread or even in completely unrelated community threads. And the level of discourse in all those threads are leagues better than that Smash announcement thread.

As long as you're not referring to me! I don't even fuckin' like Xenoblade. Never touched a game & never plan to.

For the purposes of this thread:

Good criticism:
- I feel like there's only one body type in these sort of games
- Why tf is her top vacuum sealed
- This is a *less* sexualized design?

Terrible criticism:
- I haven't seen boobs that size outside of porn
- They're fucking massive; it's shameful

Honestly, not you since you actually engaged with posters and put thought into your replies. You were literally the only person I believed in there. I feel like your genuine posts were used as a springboard for other disingenuous ones.
