I don't know if boob works like that

it's soul calibur, nobody who works on that game even cares how anatomy or clothing works, they're all about the floppy tiddies and zero-g physics.

Her outfit is not as bad as I thought it would be. Now to see what outfits season two brings.

I really don't understand what goes on in designers or directors' heads when they design or mandate characters that look underage in conjunction with costumes like this from Genshin Impact here.

Because first and foremost games are made for kids and teenagers in japan. As with anime teens in gaming "need" characters in their own age-group. 14 year olds need other 14 year olds to look at in revealing clothes, etc. And publishers need easy to produce shit they can sell, sell and sell.

Also creepy otakus with deeeep pockets buy tons of this stuff. It helps immensely that most people can't tell the difference between a 16 year old and a 20 year old in anime/anime-games. Or a 13 year old and a 18 year old, etc.

that will not be practical in combat at all.
Well it's an RPG; I say the more kinds of clothes the better, as long as they don't arbitrarily restrict them. Wear simple dresses in town, wear the formal attire for the ballroom cutscene, equip the combat gear for exploration. I love constantly changing costumes in games that allow it.

Seriously, what's the point of Skyrim or Fallout if I can't download some dress mods, turn on god mode and run around killing monsters in style?

She has some major fabric forming boobs going on, but other than that I think she has an overall solid design.

I can never decide if boob socks would be comfortable or not. One hand, snug. On the other, they'd basically be flapping all over the place.

While Fire Emblem Three Houses is toned down from prior entries, there's still several head scratchingly bad designs present throughout the game. Even more so if you consider the 3D models, which can be worse.

Oh yeah, when I saw her I knew she was created solely for the mobile game.

The fuck is wrong with those tiny hands?
...among the other obvious design issues.
"She needs more booty meat. Turn the thiccness up to DUMMY, damn it!"
"We can't...we....we ran out of polygons. There just aren't any more!"
"Then make something else smaller to compensate!!!!"

She looks like a 12 year old...

In to many animes/mangas/games/etc. you can't go with your gut feeling in terms of the age of a character. The designers/etc. don't seem to care one bit as long as it fits their "vision".

Here's a bit i found after googling for a second.

It's really hard to call this a "Design" when it's literally a body stocking with a skirt lol.

Also what is it with crystal balls and claw like things. Soul Calibur did it with Viola too. Weird.

The Atelier stuff is unfortunate as I was really looking forward that artist getting a big game release and how comfy the Atelier series seems to be but as soon as the fanart started I guess they started leaning further into it. Shame.

It's the thousand year dragon trope.
Yeah I know.

I hate it. When you have characters that look young, act young yet is somewhow adult just because the author is a creep it gets disgusting, even worse when people defend it.

Maybe I remember wrong or nostalgia plays into this but years ago most games (that I played) had character designs that reflected their ages. I wonder why that changed.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, The 57 year old is actually Biscuit from Hunter X Hunter that's not her real form lol (I will not defined the rest though, seriously 9yrs old?!?!!?!?!??! Soooooo Many question raised there... Same with the rest)

latest

Biscuit is legit though, I forget her background since it's been awhile since I've watched Hunter X Hunter but she stays in that "form" to hide her power levels? She's terribly designed in all honesty.

I'd say the trope has existed for longer than we actually remember but due to the internet and the hyper focus of what we actually ingested in terms of anime and video games growing up might have colored our views a bit. Even in American television our skewed perception of age and such is in part due to the fact hat people over 18 and in their 20s at times playing teenagers and such have helped contribute to skewing it too.

While I'm still of the belief that people can be attracted to characters for multiple reasons, that aren't limited to sexuality, due to their set of personality traits or certain archetypes, I think it's also disingenuous to say that characters can't "act young" past a certain age. I get that there's some fetish territory in examples such as the "baby girl" trope and others, but I know plenty of women who would be considered "childish" in some of their actions outside of work and/or how they talk.

It's the same grey area as a lot of people I've seen commenting on flat chested or thin/lithe women being "pedo bait" or "she looks too young." Not that I believe sexualization is good inherently (context matters) but the fact that thin women especially are often mistreated for exploring that side or being shown in that light (eat a sandwich, she looks like a child, etc) makes the whole conversation super complicated.

I know a girl who has no big boobs to speak of and is constantly upset at being told she looks like a kid and she has a very healthy relationship with her self worth as well as her sexuality. It's a complicated situation to be sure. I know the super exaggerated anime comparisons aren't exactly 1:1 but I saw an artist post in a group I'm a part of the other day of an artistic nude he was doing that didn't involve a bunch of ahegao faces or any weird stuff and everyone claimed they liked drawing kid porn.

When you look at some of the controversies regarding skin tones and characters not being ______ enough for those races or carrying similar traits to the perceived stereotypes it gets even more complicated.

All this to say that "looking young" or "Acting young" to some degree are oversimplifications I believe for a much more complicated issue of our relationship with sexuality, and while yeah anime has some pretty terrible examples with characters clearly either aged young or childlike, I believe there's some conversation to be had about how our view of "what is sexy" flavors our perception of what is "allowed" to be sexy in turn.

I've always got a bit of creeped by those underaged girls in animes and never really understood how Japanese people especially the woman tolerate it.

is the 9 years old for real?

What the fuck is wrong with Japan
That kind of stuff is creepily common with characters that are some kind of bioengineered species.

What is wrong with Biske's original form?
Biske hates it because she wanted to be strong but not look manly, and honestly the way it's written i believe it.

Her little girl form holds only 10% of her power and it's still stronger than 90% of the world's hunters, so she handicaps herself for beauty yet still packs a punch o_x

I give Biscuit a pass because as a character she's depicted as relentlessly competent, strong, and probably one of the smartest characters in the series. They do the work of getting me to actually buy "she just likes to look that way" (also even her girly design is completely fine)

The fact that HxH has only like three other female characters of note is a different issue however...

I'm going to sound really dumb or at least woefully naive, but is that actually bad though? I get the 1000 year old dragon is bad because it's generally a really bad excuse to sexualize minors with skin showing ("it's okay because she isn't actually underage...") but I don't see any kind of pedophilia connection if it's some kind of 3 year old adult android. Am I just missing something really obvious or something?

I like both, she can look very professional while still being cute in a suit ^^

??
I mean, it started poorly but after Ryodan we got Pakunoda, Machi, Shizuku, Melody, Biscuit, Cheadle, Alluka(who is also trans), and so on... Most of these are secondary characters but i'd hardly say these aren't worthy of note...

Manga's latest arc has basically doubled the number of women, with lots of them being big players on the big scheme of the saga...The variety of designs is also really good.

Yeah the reverse isn't as bad so long as they aren't sexualized and child-like really
