Tbh the thing is I don't get why men need to have female characters with their tiddies flapping in the breeze to find them sexy. Like?? Chloe from Uncharted, Fang from FF13, Cassandra from Dragon Age, Evie, Kassandra and Aya from Assassin's Creed... they all manage to leave my gay ass shook while being reasonably clothed. Conclusion? Men are WEAK.
Also looking back at this list I'd say I definitely have a type...
She'll always be the best thief in the world and it baffles me persona 5 went for the wrong Carmen

Porn obsession has married men grow unattracted to their wives because they have become so desensitized over time that only the extremes portrayed in hardcore pornos can sexually stimulate them anymore. I think something similar has happened to many men growing up on objectifying videogames.

The cartoon series and the facebook game made her hispanic lineage more clear. So does the Netflix show as well.

Honest question: The only thing I remember about Carmen Sandiego is the educational video game I played at my school when I was a kid. Is there really that much lore about her? Enough to do a whole Netflix show?
Yep, the new show will be on Jan 18th so it will be soon.
The animated series was able to do multiple seasons and there are multiple lores you can do on her, her organization V.I.L.E. and the good guys who work for A.C.M.E. as well as her original backstory which made her like a...quadruple-triple-double agent.

It's a 90's cartoon. I enjoyed it immensely (more than other 90's shows) but YMMV.
Speaking of Carmen, they really played up the fanservice (for a kid's game) during the last few games like in Carmen Sandeigo QuickThink Challenge where she spends most of her taunts she gives are in a tight spy catsuit over her regular red coat because...reasons.
The biggest problem with games writing remains the thinking that there is a way to write women that is somehow different from men. It's a false dichotomy. A well-written character would be well-written regardless of gender.

Remove the pages from your link. If people have different posts per page, the links won't work. I've edited them in your thing quote to show what they should look like. When copying, right-click the number and select copy link to get a proper link that isn't dependent of pages.

I just want to let you know that I just spent a good chunk of my New Year's Eve watching the old Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego so I'm blaming you for this.
...it was really good and far better than any animated tv show should be about an edutainment game.

Anyone here watched the anime Zombieland? What are your thoughts on it? Looks to me like just an idol anime with a twist but I've heard it does some progressive things.
Cute show, lots of girls with pretty good personalities and some go against the idea of how idols should usually be
there's a transgender idol which is supported by her family, a sukeban(japanese college gang girl) that was a gang leader, and a courtisan who we didn't hear much of so far but seemed like an interesting character

I think it was the recent thread here about a certain character's sexuality that piqued my interest. Started watching it with my sister, who was quite skeptical at first (and she REALLY isn't a fan of zombies), but after the second episode we were hooked. Like Mariip said, it does do a lot of things right and it's an interesting allegory on idol culture.
I should also mention High Score Girl is great too. As a poster in the other thread said, the main boy character, Haruo, comes off as a real "Gater" in the first episode. Don't let that discourage you, he really matured over the course of the series.
Also worth noting is there's a minor side character who's actually a female take on "perverted boy" archtype that's so hated around here. I mean it's nothing extraordinary or vital to the plot or anything, but it's quite something to see as you just don't see girls perving on guys in Anime (any female perversion is generally limited to girl on girl related stuff)

Each time I'm reminded about that (or the many other incomprehensible harassment cases like those of Leigh Alexander or Zoë Quinn), I kind of get so mad and sad at the same time. Just pure concentrated garbage.

She deserves criticism over some of her behaviour in the years after GG began, but no, she didn't "bring the harassment upon herself." She did nothing to deserve that.

What regularly shocks me is how they bother giving their account avatars (entirely unrelated to the topic, too).
I mean, I'm trying to understand the mindset of someone like HCRetro and this chain of actions:
- Make an Era account in 2017, give it an avatar.
- Fail to post anything at all in over a year, but either stay logged in or keep the username and password somewhere.
- Make a suicide post, watch the account be banned.

It's not. We need to stop assuming that the people who feel this way are jilted teenagers.
It's men in their 30's and 40's who feel like they didn't get what the world promised them, so they rage and lash out and clamor for how things used to be back when She-Ra was hot and Transformers killed things indiscriminately, even though they haven't actually watched that shit in decades.
One of the things I do, because I'm a nerd, is hang out in Jeff Gerstmann's Mixlr during his drives to work and sometimes he takes calls. I usually bless the segment by calling in but one time I couldn't because I was in a meeting. The one time I'm not there, this happens.
It's adults who feel jilted for no reason because they thought they'd be better off and they're not and they can't understand why, so they blame people who are advocating for change.
