Funny enough majority of this thread is saying because of incels. And they're correct.

Yet incels are likely the target demographic for Onlyfans, they are the easiest, dumbest marks around. So they can piss and moan all they like about it, but their money speaks louder than their words.

i would never sub to only fans for various reasons. i've seen some expensive subs. if you wanted to support multiple entertainers, it could get pricey. i've seen some siterips of only fans and...the content itself seems super lacking. some performers do legit scenes, others are short clips here and there. and with only fans not showing any previews, you don't know what you're getting into. if i'm going to pay for stuff, other websites have done it better.

that being said, i fully support sex workers taking control of their content and making money on their terms. i won't speak ill of onlyfans unless the website is shown to be super unfair to their content providers.

It sucks going from paying way less for a higher quality product with studio content to paying way more for shaky cell phone footage and really low quality pictures. I get that you're paying the actress directly and I think that's awesome but it sucks when there's someone you're a fan of who quits doing studio content and does OnlyFans exclusively. I get it, it makes sense from a business perspective but I just wish the content was higher quality.

Misogyny and dehumanization of sex workers mostly. I'm pretty negative on the porn industry generally because it is very exploitative, but OnlyFans is probably the most ethical form of sex work. Completely controlled by the workers, there is profit sharing but just the normal level of revenue sharing a platform holder does, similar to non-sex work platforms like YouTube or Google play/App store.

I mean, there is no way to know for sure that there isn't some scary pimp in the background holding a gun to the sex worker's head and stealing all their revenue, but that's highly unlikely. There have been some stories about people forced into desperate circumstances and turning to OnlyFans as a last-ditch effort to make money, but at least they are self-employed and see the vast majority of their revenue and have control over what they do and don't do. I wouldn't be surprised if that is much more attractive to many people than working a low wage retail job where you don't get to set your own hours and are exposed to coronavirus.

The biggest negative is likely the amount of harassment they receive, but that is true of all sex workers and I would hope OnlyFans has moderation tools to help mitigate that. I've never used the site personally but from what I understand, if you care about consuming porn ethically it is probably the best way to do so.

The point is that you are not contributing to exploitation in the porn industry, you are directly paying the sex workers themselves, and doing all of that instead of supporting platforms that steal content and host tons of objectionable content (like Pornhub/YouPorn). The industry would be much more ethical if people were willing to pay sex workers directly for content through platforms like Onlyfans instead of shitty platforms like Pornhub/YouPorn.

I can only speak about it from the perspective of Twitch which is where I've heard it referenced as a punchline; the reason why OnlyFans gets shit on that platform is due to a number of streamers who essentially use Twitch to raise awareness for and pitch their OnlyFans. Honestly doesn't sound so bad so far, yeah? A little bit eh, but hustle is hustle. Well, the kicker is that a couple of these streamers are known to have audiences who are primarily teenagers...yeah, you see where this gets incredibly iffy and adds a feeling of exploitation to it. Is teenagers paying for porn something crazy and unreasonable? Not at all, but teenagers never had direct interaction with the person they're getting off to who is playing the role of an influencer.

This is actually a serious problem with it, one of the biggest negatives I could think of tbh. Nothing wrong with advertising yourself but Twitch specifically rubs me the wrong way due to the audience on Twitch.
