Why would they need/want to?
They've shown time and time again they have no interest in being a videogame publisher.
Wrap it up folks, we're done here.

Possible I suppose, but I think they just continue loaning out their I.Ps, probably a lot of easy money in that for them, hardest part would just be finding the right partners. They'll jump in eventually. The success of Spiderman can't have gone unnoticed over at Disney/Marvel, but the potential failure of Avengers might scare them off again.
We've left the age of games doing well just because they're based on beloved IP. A lot of people will pass on the Avengers game if it gets terrible reviews and has horrible word of mouth. Sure, it might end up selling okay by the standards of other games, but an Avengers AAA game should sell just as well as a Call of Duty or GTA, and that doesn't look feasible currently. If anything, Spider-Man's success may show that Disney may have the right idea in just licensing out their properties. With that said, I'd imagine the it would take a lot for the Avengers game to bomb.
Oh yeah, if it doesn't review well, its sales will probably tank. But if it's at least decent, SE Avengers should be fine. We've left the age of games doing well just because they're based on beloved IP. If Disney were to purchase any gaming company it would be Sony. Not only would they get the complete rights to Spider-Man back, but they'd also get PlayStation, the leading console platform, along with all of their studios and IP. Obviously this couldn't happen due to monopoly in Hollywood but it's Sony they would want the most, I imagine.
That's why I mentioned the Spider-Man rights from their Pictures division. There's no way to buy SIE from Sony without buying the whole company due to how much they need it.Eh what? You do know that Sony is not only SIE?
Sony is a lot bigger than Disney. ( based on Revenue ).
Disney is significantly larger than Sony in market value which is what counts, not revenue. Sony is too complicated to be outright purchased however.Eh what? You do know that Sony is not only SIE?

Corporate slaves? What is with some people's fantasies of Disney buying other companies?
Well yeah. But there seem to be an especially large group who are slaves to the House of Mouse. And I'm not just talking about the few who feel this way in this forum.
SaaameLet me get my next set of shares, then buy whatever you want, hahhah.
If Disney bought EA and then shut them down, would anyone actually miss them? I mean really.
Isn't that the heart of it, they want to be a business where everything they do is a big success and gives a great return on investment. Game publishing seems to always be hit and miss. Licensing their ip is far safer. They'll jump in eventually. The success of Spiderman can't have gone unnoticed over at Disney/Marvel, but the potential failure of Avengers might scare them off again.

Why hasn't Apple acquired Disney yet? Apple wants to be an entertainment company too. So much cash waiting to be spend.REASONS: Clear brand synergy between ESPN and all of EA's licensed sports game. Several developers who have worked and can continue to work on Star Wars games (and can eventually start work on in-house AAA Marvel games). All of the dormant IP that could be mined or even sold off. Disney skins in games like Apex Legends (fuck it, make Vader a hero in Apex, why not?). Take it a step further: Disney could turn Apex into the Fortnite killer it was meant to be, with full mobile integration and tons of crossover events.
And finally, MASS EFFECT WORLD.
Financially, EA's probably too overweight at the moment (30b market cap, total acquisition would probably be closer to 50b), but shit son, the synergies are there. Will the Mouse ever do it?
