Toad has been my favorite since Super Mario 2 as the fastest character and best picking turnips. He's remained the fastest character and I enjoy speed running with him.

I will instead pose this question to the producer of Mario + Rabbids, because there are too many 'Escort Toad' stages, many of which are quite frustrating.

I used to love Toad, until the Paper Mario games started shoving him down my throat

We don't even get unique Toads anymore like Toadette, Captain Toad or Zess T. Just the same generic ones.

Nintendo really went ahead and told Intelligent Systems that they prefer this over new characters

I've always liked him, but I liked him more with his Mario Party voice from the N64 games, the new one sounds a bit rough

Toads are great, I just wish Nintendo would allow them to have unique characteristics between eachother beyond a palette swap in games where they are overexposed.

Toad is among my favorite Mario characters so Im a fan.

The Toads have been pretty consistently the funniest parts of the new Paper Mario games and found myself laughing quite a lot at them during The Origami King so far. The only other core Mario character that brings as much humor in the RPGs consistently is Bowser.

Toad is like those side characters in Dragonball that you only keep around to give reactions and fill time while the characters you care about do their thing.
