I don't find Westerns to be very entertaining. I don't loathe them and some are masterpieces obviously but I'm, never excited to watch one.

This might be controversial too but most attempts at making a 'noire' don't really work for me.

Might have something to do with these being classic genres that are just turned into tropes nowadays.

I fucking hate isekais. The only good one is Digimon Adventure.
Have you read or watched The Twelve Kingdoms? Because it's utterly amazing and does not fall into the usual isekai tropes. Mostly because it was written and made before the current batch of male-centered isekai taking place in video game worlds. It's probably one of the best world building that I've seen in anime and has legitimate character development. The world feels like there are actually politics and things happening that don't revolve around the main character.

I haven't seen 2049, but the other 2 didn't do anything for me. Sure films like interstellar, 2001: a space oddesy and gravity exist, but if you have to sit through 50 replicas, transformers and gemini mans, you get a bit tired of the genre using a cool concept to carry a film and excuse away bad writing, plot, etc. What's worse is they won't even use the cool concept properly and you just get these boring films.
There's an argument that the genre is too vast to loathe it, but I can definitely say I dislike the vast majority of those films.

Concept: There a society where the rich live forever and have godlike technology, but the poor live in squalor and have bad technology. I could be talking about at least 4 different films off the top of my head and they all suck

Thanks for your opinion I guess.
As a fan of sci-fi literature, I can understand the opinion. There's just so much more interesting and great sci-fi literature than films or shows of the same quality. (In my opinion, obviously). But that's really a thing to do with cost, so it makes sense. Films with fantastical or unrealistic elements have been so much more expensive than other types that there's bound to be less. Especially stuff willing to take the creative risks that truly great sci-fi does.

Basically, where is my The Left Hand of Darkness movie?

I can't stand westerns in pretty much any form or genre. I just don't like the setting. RDR games included. My one exception to this is the True Grit Cohen Brothers remake.

Gore porn horror is disgusting. Shit like saw or hostel and games like last of us 2. I despise the revelry in human suffering.

Arthouse.

In trying to be unique they end up being fairly formulaic and more focused on being a metaphor than a movie

Good indicator that you're in for one is that the trailer music is nothing but metronome ticking, violins, and someone pressing a single key on a piano

Medieval Fantasy or Sword-and-Sandal media. It has never done anything except bore me out of my skull, especially in video games.

Maybe it's not a seething hatred, but I'm very disinterested in all forms of zombie media. Hard to think of a more boring "threat" than a bunch of shambling idiots.

I have more direct antipathy for political and military propaganda, especially regarding the US military since it's so done to death in games and movies.
