Miyamoto himself said that the Mario cast are a troupe of actors putting on a show in an interview. They're just putting on highly exaggerated over-the-top shows for your entertainment. He's still athletic and talented, just not to the level of wrestling Gorons, climbing mountains, and backflipping while carrying a metric fuckton of gear like Link can.
Link's athletic feats are so mind-bendingly impressive that people had no choice but to pass them down through legend with 100% accuracy.
A single turtle can kill Mario while Link can go toe-to-toe with giant minotaur creatures and flesh eating zombies and take direct hits from them.Let me know when Mario needs one of these to do any fucking little thing:
People talking shit about Link getting tired/having less stamina...do you guys know how many weapons and how much food he's gotta fit in his pockets at all times? Cut him some slack!
Have you seen how much gold Mario carries? All that metal and he's still out there flipping and doing aerials.
Is this even a contest. Even if you take just core Mario, he wall jumps, long jumps, triple jumps... Link? A bit of a backflip and a side jump? Mario can fall without taking damage. He doesn't have a stamina issue. Aaaand, he can actually swim underwater.

BotW era link is a monster if Age of Calamity is of any indication, and I do mean the cutscenes.
Dude is somehow capable of chewing and digesting semi-molten rocks with no visible harm or discomfort, has insane reflexes and is capable of swatting away large chunks of falling debris.
This is actually consistent with that one memory in BotW that implies he singlehandedly murderized a fuckload of monsters at once, including Lynels.
Still would give it to jumpman overall.

Samus Aran was pretty much created to be sexualized, which is why she had the bikini in the original game. I think that outfit is technically from Zero Mission but it's similar to one from Fusion. Not that it excuses it but yeah that's not a Smash exclusive.

I'd honestly be fine with ZSS if they dropped the heels. I think Samus Returns was a step in the right direction with giving her more muscle definition so she looks less like a runway model or pinup girl (minus the stupid wedge heels).
I don't know, that to me comes off as even more sexualized than her other models. She's even more curvier than normal. And you can still see her belly button through her super skin tight Zero Suit.
I mean she's allowed to be attractive/sexy, it just has to make sense considering she's a superhuman bounty hunter and a homage to Ripley. She's far more athletic looking with the broad shoulders and defined legs, not to mention being officially measured at 6'3". It's not perfect, but it's far better than how she's looked in the Prime games (besides 1), Smash, and Other M. It's up there for her best look along with Super Metroid and Prime 1.
I'd be fine with the Zero Suit being dumped altogether, but I don't think that's going to happen considering how ingrained it is to Samus and the series itself thanks to Smash and cosplay.
