I'm looking to finally upgrade my old TV in the game room, just not sure if it will be this year or not. I guess we'll see what Black Friday pricing looks like, but obviously I want something that hits the necessary features. Then again based on the PS5 being sold out everywhere, there's probably not much point to upgrading yet if I can't secure one of those too.

Got the 2018 Samsung Q9FN. It only does 1440p@120hz.
So I'm hoping the PS5 will support that.
It also has VRR so at least 4K variable framerate won't be too bad

I just got a 4k tv but it's not 120hz. I didn't really know what that meant so I hope it doesn't make a difference

Got a B9 and a PS5 with demon's souls waiting for me, it's going to look insane, same with The Last of Us pt 2

Also audio ready (which is as important as video)! Got a JBL LSR305 pair with a LSR310s subwoofer and also pre-ordered a pulse 3D headset

My tv is next gen ready. Its 1500nits for mind-blowing hdr and its 4k. Vrr and 120fps doesn't interest me in the slightest.

For me, if Vrr is needed, then its sloppy programming. Make it a fixed 60, or if not that, a fixed 30.

120fps will just dumb down graphics and for little benefit. Give me 60 and better graphics.

I bought an 2020 Q80t and I'm already dissapointed because next gen games will probably aim for native 4K OR 120HZ (let alone ray tracing) anyway I needed a new TV because my old TV was an old ass 2015 Samsung LCD but I think I could save some money buying a new TV.

The TV IS great though. Lack of native Crunchyroll app is the only bad thing I can say about it

The 75 comes Monday for the birthday. I'll let you know, surprisingly few reviews or youtube videos about it.
Yeah, this year's Vizios seem more overlooked than they have been in past years. There are next-to-no reviews from reputable sites of the Vizio OLED, which seems insane to me as a product that would have quite a bit of appeal if they nailed it (the display technology everyone won't shut up about at a dramatically lower price).

I've had the LG CX 77" on my wall for about two weeks now. It's great other than the fact that I mounted it directly opposite a large window. Live and learn.

sorry for wading into the conversation...

I'm very interested in HDMI 2.1, and having more than 1 of these ports on the TV.

Are my options either the Sony X900H (2 out of 4) or the LG OLEDs (all)?

Have a 77" C9 4k Oled and a Samsung 8k 85Q900.
Oled gets my attention for movies, and Sammy for games. Best of both worlds.

How does VRR work? Is it a console level feature that works for every game or does each game have to support it?

I went with the Vizio pqx. Tv looks great. The VRR seems a bit busted though. I turned it on with my Xbox one x and it seemed to make objects in games appear to flash while moving.

Are there any good gaming TVs available (i.e. hdmi 2.1 with VRR) at Costco?

They always have different model numbers so it confuses me.

Okay Era-Fam, I ended up purchasing a 65-inch LG CX. Decided to go with buying the warranty as well for peace of mind. Never thought I'd go for the OLED but I was like, it's a new gen, just make the leap! Thank you everyone for assauging my fears of burn-in, I can't wait to enjoy some PS5/XSX goodness in HDR.

What's the best sub-$1k TV that has HDMI 2.1, 4K, and VRR? There's a lot of good TVs out there but I'd rather keep it under $1k, ideally around the $700 range if possible.

Using rtings.com the best tv I can see under $1,000 is the Sony X900H. Both the 55" and 65" are $900 or so right now. Around the $700 range I wouldn't know. There's a lot of TVs at that price range and idk if any have hdmi 2.1

I was gonna jump on a tv now but I know more tvs with these features will be available in the new year so I'm waiting. I have several TVs with 4k hdr even one that will do 1080p 120hz and several freesync displays.

I do not. However, I am shopping for one. My shitty TCL tv blew up. Been without one for a month. Waiting for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Wait, I thought the Q80T does support 120hz and native 4k?

Cool thanks I'll check it the X900H. I realize I can't get everything for <$1k but I feel like I should be able to get a pretty decent TV.

My receiver is 2 years old. My TV is an LG OLED from last year. I do most of my gaming on PC. I'm ok not to upgrade the living room for a little while.

Nope, been waiting for OLED prices to drop a bit more, but they seem to stick at £1K+ on the low end. My TV isn't super old, so not super in a rush, but it's not 4K/120hz (not that I care that much for either to be honest). Probably give it a couple more years and if OLED is still over £1K I'll probably settle on a LED TV.

Would love the LG 48" CX. But my budget won't exactly allow for it, unless it comes down in price during Black Friday sales, but I'm looking for a upgrade before I pick up the ps5 comes out.

Been eyeing at the TCL 55" 6 series, Samsung 43" Q60T, and Hisense 50" H8G

Would love the Samsung for its size, since my setup is in a small space, but the TCL seems to be the better option for gaming.

My TV (below) is coming from Amazon. I will have to wall mount it. Does anyone have good recommendations for wall mounts off Amazon?

Wait, I thought the Q80T does support 120hz and native 4k?

It does.

I've got the LG OLED BX6, not as bright as the CX but I have dark room and it's got 120hz, VRR and hdmi 2.1, so that'll do for me. HUGE difference from my (trusty) 2010 Panasonic Plasma that is still running like a dream.

What is up with the stupid naming standards across different regions?
Is there a chart that has a summary of all TVs with their corresponding region codes/names?

NA/EU/AS/AU all seem to have different codes, it becomes extremely annoying and difficult to find out which version of TV you are actually buying after reading reviews that mostly come from the US.

I got x9000h but an old marantz a/v receiver.
currently I'm plugging my PS4 hdmi to tv and optical cable to the marantz.

now that there's no optical on the PS5, I guess I either need a new receiver or just play with stereo through arc :(

My TV has VRR, 120Hz but only at 1440p but I don't expect many games that run at 4k/120Hz.

Or you could connect the optical cable from your tv to your receiver. Thats how I do it.
