Which do you choose? You can only choose one or the other.

Edit:

You can choose from your favorite soup or favorite salad as the two options.

It depends on the soup options.

I prefer meal salads that have some kind of meat protein which is usually not the kind of salad that comes with a 'soup or salad' choice.

Salad

I'll take a boring-ass house salad over a soup any day. I do not like pretty much any kind of soup.

Definitely depends on what soup/salad is offered. If I have to choose between a halászlé, or even harira, and some sad-ass iceberg lettuce-filled feedbowl, you bet I'd choose the soup.

Depends on meal honestly. Sometimes a refreshing light summer salad is the way to go with a heavy meal like a steak. Or a warm winter stew/soup if it's cold outside.

Assume it's your favorite soup or your favorite salad as the two options.

Who has a favorite salad? Or at least something that would be one of their favorite meals?

Like I've never heard of someone inviting someone else over because they made a big pot of salad.

I'm picking soup 10 times out of 10.

It really depends on the type of soup.

Though the salad option is usually the same sad collection of lettuces and veggies at most restaurants, complete with bottled dressing in a cup. So it's consistently mediocre and I'll take it over a tomato or plain chicken soup.

When I was a kid we had this Italian place called East Side Mario's near us that had unlimited soup or salad with your entree. I'm pretty sure every one of us always got the soup. I personally got the Italian Wedding Soup, which was from then on one of my favorite soups. Of course the soup being unlimited, it was fairly common that I'd gorge on soup and have to take most of my entree home.

Salad but it's because a great soup is usually better than a great salad but in most cases when you have an option your given a meh soup or salad and even a crap salad is better than a crap or meh soup.

Soup. If I wanted a salad I'd order it as an entree. Side salads are usually thoroughly mediocre. Soups are at least something I wouldn't do at home.

Perfectly balanced, as all things should be

I tend to be really boring and often take caesar salad because the bar for a good caesar salad is low, you can't really fuck that up. I tend to find nicer places have better soup so I'm more encouraged to try that out, but it all depends on the main dish, really.

Salad if caesar's an option. Probably still salad otherwise unless it's Asian fare. I'm not big on most Western soups I've sampled. (Which, yes, I'm sure is like 1% of them in total.)
