Anakin represents Luke's dark side.

Luke represents Ben's light side.

Also Hux telling Ben that he's just trying to hide his face because he looks like his parents.

The parallels to the alt-right could not be more obvious:
EELuaeUWwAE46gn

This issue of Age of Resistance drops Kylo Ren and Armitage Hux into an abandoned planet. Not only does Ren save Hux's life using the exact same visual composition than when Rey saved the remnants of the Resistance, but when Kylo is unconscious and Hux has to think on his feet to convince an Alderaanian survivor to help them, the cunning general reveals his parentage: Leia Organa, Princess of Alderaan, Rebel senator, that "Ben Solo resembles more than he would like to admit."

Also if anyone wants to know, the writer for the Darth Vader comics is doing the Kylo Ren comic.

I don't know to link tweets on here so I'll just copy and paste what has been said:

At Fanexpocanada last weekend I sat in on a small panel with Charles Soule, the writer for the Vader Comics, and the upcoming The Rise of Kylo Ren. He said he was picked for the new series because of the Vader series, and how well he knew Vader.

He said that the shadow of Vader hung over everything and everyone- and affected the relationships between Ben and his family , but so much about Ben/Kylo was about how much he wasn't Vader. He said the story of Ben Solo was TRAGIC, and he wants us to feel for him .

He also talked about Vader's ability to disassociate himself from Anakin; as if he was an entirely different person- but mentioned there were a few small cracks- especially concerning Padme.

Soule said The Rise of Kylo Ren is the story of 'Ben to Ren'. And we'll get all the background: what happened at the temple, who the knights are etc. He was VERY cagey about the comic series time span tho- it begins pre-TFA, but ends...??

And finally he said that his new Kylo series is "an incredibly key piece of Star Wars mythology".. The panel ended much too soon!! It was amazing. Charles even joked about Momin.

He said at the end that he probably told us more than he should have- lol. A really lovely writer and human, I wish he'd had time for more questions.

Soule said he got a list of bullet points from the film group, then he writes, then it goes to the story group, then back and forth. He said how story group sometimes asks him to change/add things and won't tell him why.

This actually seems really cool. He is easily the most (only?) interesting character of the new series. I'll be reading this for sure.

Seems like good storytelling, but just like TCW (which I love) it's backfilling plot and character development that should've been in the dang movies.

Look. Nothing is perfect. The fact we can at least make Anakin and Ben compelling characters besides being cool, thanks to all the side stories is lucky enough.

Yes the movies should have handled it better. They didnt. We have canon decent stuff to make up for it, for people who care that much.

Is Dagobah the test your might education planet everyone knows and has to visit? Why did Yoda try to hide there?

But Rey got tickled by a leaf and hit a rock, SHES ready for anything now
Unlike Luke Rey's spent her entire life surviving on her own and she grew up as a SW fangirl who never once doubted the force once she discovered she could use it. Clearly she's not almighty with it considering she couldn't do a single thing to Snoke. Unlike Luke Rey's character development isn't centered around increasing her power level. She's capable already.

It hid his presence from Sidious.

You jest, and yet this happened ON THE WAY to meeting Luke

When we take into account Rey's upbringing as a scavenger who's worked on the falcon enough to know about it's modifications. What's wrong with this?

How does Snoke know about Dagobah?

Edit: I guess it's more Ben showing/leading.

Anyway this probably would have been good material for the movie.

The best part about Star Wars are the things that aren't in the Star Wars films.

The EU stuff is far better than the movies at this point.
I mean if the worth of a story is based on how much lore it gives you then yea I suppose the EU is better than the films. Are the explicit details of Ren's training crucial to the narrative of TFA and TLJ?

ALl you have to do is understand the nature of the force. As well as trust it. Again, the last Jedi goes out of its Rey to show that although she has potential rey isn't on the level of people like Luke or Snoke. Luke grew more on Dagobah then he did over the course of three years because his training was specifically about understanding and trusting the force.

He force guided a missile down a tube... whereas Rey defeated Snokes apprentice, used Jedi mind tricks to escape a planet sized Death Star, and flew and maintained a ship shes never flown in her life
Rey knew more about the falcon than Luke did about the x wing and he flew that thing perfectly vs the numerous times she nearly crashed. The only reason she defeated Kylo was because he was unbalanced in the force as a result of murdering Han. And Lylo specifically taught her how to probe someone's mind with the force.

Luke force guided a missile down a tube...from a ship he's never flown in his life. You gotta spend a little more time thinking your arguments through.

Wait..you do know she scraped the ground once for like..1 second right? And she pulled off crazy maneuvers that we've never seen Han do (like that fuckery she did to take out the last tie fighter) also, Luke was already training to be a pilot and join the rebellion in his Skyhopper and presumably on simulators with his other friends from the academy. Not to mention how Rey took out 3 ties IN ONE GODDAMN SHOT IN TLJ HER FIRST TIME USING THE TURRET

And Kylo taught her how to control someone's mind but said fuck it and left her alone with one lousy trooper anyway? Ok

Yeah those are pretty good. The Hux and Kylo Ren dynamic is especially hilarious here.

vs. Luke, who also managed to fly in perfect formation btw.

There is nothing in the film that infers that he was training with simulators to fly an x-wing, which the academy specifically wouldn't be teaching about since it's the ship of the enemy and they fly tie fighters. Hella yikes at some of the handwaving some people do to defend Luke when they're trying to say that Rey is the one who isn't believable.

I can't believe that the character with the force did something that would be very hard to do if they say, didn't have the force. šŸ˜±

Do you think he intentionally taught her and expected her to use a mind trick to escape? Why would he ever expect that? He didn't even know she had the force until he tried to probe her mind and he was shook as a result.

Interesting.

About the mask stuff, always wondered about it. There's also Nihilus from the EU, he had a tribal looking mask/cloak combo ... because he didn't really a physical body anymore? Something along those lines.

Ren is just aping Vader :/

Ren is a poser and probably wakes up in a cold sweat at the idea of not being as strong as Vader. ROS will probably bring this up considering that he rebuilt the mask.

Oh no! I stand corrected! She struggles for 5 seconds to get it off the ground the proceeded to do mindblowing shit after getting the hang of it!

There's really no use in continuing this convo there seems to be an explanation for everything so everything just boils down to "THE FORCE" so why can't "the force" be a valid excuse for how Luke was able to shoot the torpedo down the shoot even though it's literally said to the audience during that scene but you just pulled that force excuse out of your ass for Rey to excuse that utter BS
