With the buzz about the Eternals' reviews people have been talking about past Marvel films and how they stack up; there's been a variety of views on Iron Man 3, with some changing their opinions since its premiere... eight years ago.

So all this time later, how do you feel about the third entry in the shellhead trilogy?

I rewatched it a few weeks ago for the first time since theaters, and while I think I "got" it more than I did back then, I still can't say I enjoyed it overall.

It's OK, I guess. 2 and 3 are on the same level for me from what I remember. Only ever seen them once though, so I'm no expert.

I'm pretty indifferent about Ironman 2 and 3. They are both 5/10's for me. Undeniably fun moments and set pieces, but poor pacing, lack of great action direction, and hamfisted Avengers tie-ins drag them down.

Ironman 1 is a classic though.

Top 3 Marvel movie for me still, along with Black Panther and Guardians of the Galaxy 2. You can definitely sense the shift after it comes out and I wish the modern films had more of that energy

Mostly good to great. The house party protocol action scene was one of those most cringe moments in the MCU, though.

Terrible humor, weak action, and a criminal waste of Rebecca Hall

IM3 is a bottom of the barrel comic flick

Love it. Ranked number 5 in my MCU list. Best Tony in the series whereyou actually see him growing. People get way too stuck on the Mandarin stuff.

Loved it! Great action, great pacing, clever storyline, badass Gwyneth.

Clearly not the most epic MCU film and not trying to be. Charming in the way that most of Shane Black's films are. Trevor was a fun twist too!

Of the 3 IM movies, definitely better than IM2 (which is probably my least fave MCU film), slightly below IM1.

Sucks. Feels like it goes on forever. Evil fire regenerating dude is corny and the effects are cheesy. Felt like an unnecessary movie.

One of the best MCU movies and a great look at Tony's mindset and PTSD after everything.

I like it well enough. I really like the concept of focusing on Tony's PTSD after Avengers. I just wish we could have seen the version that Perlmutter didn't muddle with.

One of my favorite MCU movies.
Pretty sure the only time any of those movies surprised me.

Pretty great. One of the better cases of the director's personal style coming through in a MCU movie. The twist is hilarious and the action sequences are the most creative of the Iron Man movies.

fight scenes were cool, thats about it

also this is one of my fav MCU scenes

I love how logistically wild the plane scene is, and that's from a lenient stance towards movie magic.

Like, okay, you have to calculate on the fly how to grab these people before they fall to their death. Tony is doing this with Jarvis, and figures out, well, he can't.
So he has to use electricity to force the people he grabs to grab others. Like, medically, yeah, that tracks 1%, so suspension of belief is there.

But then you're not grabbing anybody in mid-air at that speed, let alone be able to coordinate this plan.

So it's a good scene. It's batshit in all the right ways.

Fire baddies were kinda lame but everything else was fun. I actually really liked the Iron Legion end fight and it was what I was hoping would happen since they showed them.

Hated it.

Iron Man's suit just fall to pieces. Guy Pierce breaths fire. Paltrow glows at the end and beats up the bad guys.

Out of every MCU film this one feels the most like a 90's comic book movie where they were too scared to commit to the source material (Mandarin) and just made shit up. I ignore it when marathoning the NCU most times.

Iron Man 3 walked so The Last Jedi could run. Both films challenge prior conceptions of what films like this are supposed to be, and both are the best in their respective series because of it.

Absolute bottom tier of marvel movies. A couple of decent scenes, but extremis was dumb as hell and the iron man suits being tissue paper was idiotic. The Mandarin was actually a part I like. Genuinely a good twist and they've redeemed the ten rings with Shang Chi. So glad we got more iron man in the following movies to redeem him from this. It's probably my least liked MCU movie.

Really fun, had no attachment to the comics so really enjoyed Ben Kingsley's 'mandarin' character for what he was lol.

It was better than 2, but still not good. Guy Pierce was an awful villain, and the main suit looked terrible.

It's probably one of my least favorite MCU films. The Mandarin twist is actually good, or at least I enjoy Kingsley hamming it up as Trevor--but Killian was a lame villain, so that hurt the twist. I appreciated it trying something different (especially after Iron Man 2 was mostly whatever) but I just couldn't really vibe with it.

It's also kind of funny how little the events of the film are ever referenced in the future until Shang-Chi happened, you'd think a terrorist cell kidnapping the President of the United States--with the Vice President in on it no less!--would be a bigger deal than it is treated.

Also, without taking into account the retcon in All Hail the King, what was the status of the Ten Rings organization supposed to be in Iron Man 3? At face value, the Mandarin was fake, but Iron Man 3 never wrestles with the fact that this implies the Ten Rings were entirely staged as well, despite them being very real in the first Iron Man.

Loved it. Probably the best MCU flick.

It's also the closest we'll ever get to a Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang sequel, sadly.

It's pretty good. Not great, certainly not bland, overall pretty solid.

The Mandarin twist was great and hilarious and I will not hear shit otherwise at least when it comes to Trevor. If there's anything that does muffle it it's Killian not stacking up as the proper villain. Like it's very blatantly clear that Maya's supposed to be a more important bad guy and Killian just rips that away from her, and it really makes sense if you know the BTS.

Its pretty meh, and the twist is not super great cause what could have been a interesting villain, ends up not being a villain at all, and we are left with another rich white man as the bad guy.
