Theres a trope among YouTubers, Twitch Streamers and other Content Creators(I will just say CC from now on) called a Face Reveal.

This is when a CC who to this point you have only heard there voice appears on video for the first time.

This can take the form of a special face reveal for some subscriber goal/milestone

Or can be a more casual thing of just appearing on camera one day.

Without fail the face almost never matches my mental image but sometimes the difference is greater than others.

What personally is the most suprising Face reveal of a CC you follow?

I'm completely out of the loop on this subculture and totally thought you meant, like, an influential character in a show/film/game whose identity is unknown, and then bam, the reveal.

I know this was a memorable moment in wrestling history, and it's become a meme nowadays, but at the time this was so disappointing. You mean the guy who's been Austin's enemy for ~3 years (but has been playing nice for a month or two) was the guy who was Austin's enemy? No way!

I understand it was originally supposed to be Jake the Snake but his troubles put a stop to that, but they could've done something, you know, interesting instead of the same shit.

Yeah it was awful, as far as wrestling goes, Dean Malenko in the Ciclope costume to get close to Jericho was my favorite.

McCain killing the ACA repeal was a shock — it meant several hundred thousand impoverished, struggling people in my state alone got to keep their Medicaid single-payer health insurance. Thanks for doing the right thing for once, you MLK-day-obstructing dirtbag!

It made even less sense since Vince was feuding with the Ministry for months and was seeminly onboard with them abducting his daughter and performing a satanic wedding to the undertaker? Like even by wrestling standards that was beyond stupid.

There was this guy on GameFAQs who would complain about how foreveralone he was and how impossible it was to have a gf, basically a proto-incel type. He was very active and it was sort of his whole "gimmick". Finally he posted a face pic and most people agreed he actually looked above average, and he admitted that the main reason he feels like he can't find a gf is because of his anxiety disorder.

I've never seen Chuck and Josh from Stuff You Should Know, and at this point, I don't want to.

well, more let down than shocked. I figured his face would be cooler. It didn't match his voice IMO.

I did not expect Peter Sagal to look like he does. Apparently neither does anyone else cause he jokes about it all the time.

Just had to google him because of this. He doesn't match what I had in my head, but I don't think it's that far off really.

For a second though, I confused him and Carl Kasell though and I was thinking "wow, he definitely doesn't look like he could have that crazy deep voice".

Ooof... I completely forgot Kasell died in 2018.

I cam into this thread not knowing what to expect and will slowly back out. I still don't understand the appeal of watching any of these folks.

No one expected Penguinz0/Cr1TiKal to be Jesus but here we are.

This one for me as well. I remembered him making Battlefield Bad Company 2 videos on Machinima years ago and judging by his voice I always thought he was older.

Lo and behold he's actually rather popular on Youtube nowadays and I was surprised he is around my age, definitely not what I expected him to look like based on voice alone.

Every time I end up seeing the faces of the people on The bombcast/beastcast since I only listen to the pod cast. Dan was the only one that looked like what I pictured in my head. I know what they look like now and it still blows my mind how different they look in my head when I see them. Jason is the most far off by a huge margin.

Yeaaaaaah. Was thinking someone would say Keyser Soze or maybe more recently Desty Nova (in the movie anyway, since he's not credited).

Not content creator, but I remember being surprised at how Freddi Mercury looked like. A lot of singers surprise me since I don't ever usually follow bands and their members too closely.

Lirik is the only one I can think about but that's old news now.

Only one I'm really dying to see and I can't believe his identity hasn't leaked is TheDooo from YouTube. 5+ million subs, rips at the guitar like it's paper, has a distinct voice and you see everything but his face yet no one knows who he is. Some people have thrown names out if you Google but they've all been proven wrong (he's not Eric Calerdon. Eric has hand tattoos and a much slimmer build)
