Gigabyte RX 5700 XT for $470. Got it over the weekend. So elated to have a gaming P

Was close to getting the RTX 2070 Super until i saw that it was about $165 more. And a little bit of researching showed me that it was not that big of a jump anyway. Gonna be a bit bummed out I can't run ray-tracing, but it's a fair trade off.

My friend kept saying to wait for the new chips but those are probably gonna be absurdly expensive so I'll wait it out.

GTX1650 Asus Laptop.

Because it's cheap...most other laptop in similar price range (700$-800$) mostly have 1050 or 1050ti...

Was considering getting the 1660ti model (200$ more expensive), but decided 1650 is good enough for the next 4-5 years and rather save the 200$ for the next purchase.

Had a Gigabyte RTX 2080Ti GAMING OC but have recently downgraded to an MSI RX 5700XT EVOKE (thankfully got one without the thermal issues), the 2080Ti was an irresponsible financial decision that I paid dearly for (no pun intended).

1050Ti. Bought it in late 2017 during a black friday/cyber monday sale.

In fact, I was gonna ask something in the PC Gaming thread. I chose that card as a budget solution to play some stuff and I'm really impressed by it's performance. I have it paired with a Ryzen 5 1600 and 16GB RAM, and I get solid 60FPS in most games with mid settings. But I'm looking for another budget solution, since Apex and The Division 2 had noticeable FPS drops from time to time even with low settings, what is the actual leader in terms of cost/performance? I'm in a 1080p monitor and 4K is out of the question, so I don't care about those factors at all.

I started on a 1060 6GB at $290 because it was MSRP during the crypto boom. I spent months searching for something I reasonable.
I traded it for a 1070 + $60 a year or so later when someone was kinda desperate for cash.
I traded that for a 1080ti + $200 another year later

So in all, I got a 1080TI for $550 about 2 years after it launched.

MSI 1080ti. Had a red/black scheme already going in my PC, was the only red/black card i could find at the time. Picked the 1080ti because it was a ridiculously good deal... $750 for top of the line performance, no brainer.

I've got a NVIDIA RTX 2060 Super FE, mainly purchased because I planned on upgrading to the 3000 series relatively quickly and didn't want to make too too much of an investment.

When the 3000 series drops, I'll be grabbing the RTX 3080 day one.

Got the GTX 1080 in early 2017. I rarely upgrade components of my PC so choose parts that guarantee me future-proofing. Not to mention I got a crazy good deal on this, and this was actually before the BTC mining phenomenon blew up.

I still haven't utilized this GPU to its fullest, considering I still rock a 900p monitor. I also have an immense backlog of games so I'm sure I'll be ok for the next 3 years at the very least.

2080ti because it was time for a top to bottom new PC, at the time it had just recently come out, I had the money, YOLO.

GALAX 2070 Super EX Gamer Black Edition

Was good value at the time and am considering an upgrade for the 3000 series so opted against the 2080 super which was about $338 costlier.

An RX 460, because it was cheap. Works well enough for most games, even the few recent AAA games I've played, even if I have to fiddle with settings and stuff. When next-gen arrives it probably won't do anymore, but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.

Main Rig - RTX 2060 - Grabbed at launch, coming from a GTX 1070. Wanted RT/DLSS and less power consumption with improved performance@ ~$300 No complaints

Bedroom Rig - GTX 1080 FTW - Grabbed used. Power hungry so had to upgrade PSU

980ti. Got it when it first came out, and it was the best at the time. Planning to upgrade when the new nvidia comes out this August/September.

Sapphire Nitro+ RX 5700 XT

The price and performance at the time was too good to pass up. I upgraded from a GTX 970 and plan to build a Ryzen 3700X machine here shortly to finish it up.

5700xt because I couldn't support the RTX line pricing, all of my previous builds have been Nvidia gpu machines but they're beyond ridiculous at this point.

I want to buy Nvidia they haven't done me wrong product wise but I always bought their flagships and they have nearly doubled in price for the same performance value. Just can't support that.

That went from $650 ish cards to nearly $1100 for basic ass skus of their flagships.

1080 Ti, because it was still the best at the time of purchase and I just sold my gaming laptop, so that pretty much covered the entire cost. It was also good timing, because that was like a week or 2 before prices sky rocketed

Gigabyte GTX 1660ti. I used to run a 1060, but it was the 3GB variant, so I needed an upgrade for all those wonderful games that were supposed to come out this spring- Cyberpunk, dying Light 2 and Bloodlines 2. So I went with something decent, yet not too crazy, since I was gonna jump onto the ray-tracing bandwagon with a 30-series in a few years.

So far at 1080p, it's chewing through everything I throw at it. Along with my new Ryzen 3700x build, I'm happy as a clam.

I wanted a 4k card so I got a 1080, but that was only good for 4k on older games or with console-equivalent settings, so I got a 2080 Ti.

1080 Ti - I was building a gaming PC at the time and had a decent amount of money to spend. I got a good deal on it and it seemed worth the extra money. I've been happy with it although there are certainly things I miss from the 2000 series.

Have a GTX 1080 in my 2013 PC. Ended up going from a 780 to a 980 Ti to play Dark Souls 3 at release, and then used EVGA's Step-Up to get a 1080. In my 2018 build, I have a 1080 Ti. Grabbed it (used for $500 and have had zero issues) due to the awful price/performance of the 20 series at launch and have been waiting for a true upgrade ever since.

I have a GTX 1070 I bought used off someone last year. At 1080p it handles all the games I play at max settings, though admittedly I don't play many new games.

THICCIII-RX-57XT8TBD8-large.jpg

An XFX RX 5700 XT Thicc III Ultra. A terrible name for a really good card, it runs very cool and at a nice clock speed - XFX claims a boost speed of 2035MHz but mine often goes above this - indeed, I saw it at 2100MHz once. I haven't overclocked it or anything so that's a nice bonus.

My previous card was an MSI R9 390X Gaming 8G and it was just time for an upgrade, is all. I'd had that card for five years and it was struggling a lot in some newer games. Kingdom Come Deliverance was one - it was the first game I tried after the upgrade and it was, unfortunately, a disappointment, being as low performing and janky as before, whereupon I found that my i5 4690K is bottlenecking the card by up to 60%. So now I'm upgrading to a Ryzen system later this month.

As for why this card? It's custom cooler is better than the reference blower design and it's one of the top performing custom AIB 5700 XT's, and I was able to purchase it from a company through Amazon.co.uk for about €360, considerably lower than all of the other higher end AIB models.

I have a Evga RTX 2080 SUPER XC ULTRA GAMING. I had a GTX 1070 since its release until earlier this year. I caught a good deal on an Ultrawide monitor and upgraded and need more power to push the monitor at the new res. This is really a stopgap card as I was waiting on the 3000 series GPU's to come out. I'll sell this one to a friend or pass it down to my son and upgrade to either a 3080 or 3080ti when they release.

EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC2. A user was selling it for $650 on GAF only a few months after they came out. Super kick ass price, the best gpu you could get at the time within reason. They were really cool about me putting it off for a bit due to a trip. Right after I received it, GAF imploded. I sold my GTX 980 Kingpin on era. I think they/I got a decent sample, it overclocks/underclocks pretty good without having to mess with voltage.

Xfx r9 290 (unlocked shaders to 290x)

Still going strong. I rarely have to reduce anything at 1080p.

I chose it because it was quiet (for a 290), easy to flash into a 290x and the best option available to me at the tone that wasn't nvidia never buying another of their gpus after having 2 fx cards fail on me within a few months

2080 ROG STRIX.

I wanted high end, but I didn't think I needed a 2080ti (I was kinda right) I'm upgrading to 3080ti as soon as that becomes a thing though, want to prepare for next gen consoles finally raising the graphics bar.

R9 390, it's an old ass card but still runs most games really well because I limit my resolution to 1080p.

Why did I choose this card over the GTX 970 in 2015? Because fuck Nvidia and their anti-consumer bs.

Next upgrade will be an AMD ray tracing capable card whenever that's available.

EVGA 2080Ti

Why did I choose it? Because I wanted to get a card that would let me play at 4k60, or close to it. It has done that very well. I also wanted to try ray tracing. It was a good first step for the technology at a consumer level.

And I got it because I always jump into a new GPU gen at launch, and get the high end model.

Asus 2080 ROG Strix Gaming OC. (huge 3 fan monster and really tight fit since it's 29.97cm and my case fits 30cm max).
Edit: HMD has it pictured above.

Was originally looking to buy 2070 super, but this was only 9€ more.

Something-something 1080ti. I just wanted a powerful card a few years back and this was the cheapest 1080ti I could find. Should've known it'd be loud as fuck, though, which is definitely something I'm gonna think about the next time I upgrade lol.

I got an Nvidia GTX 1060. I think I upgraded from a GTX 650, which was my first "real" graphics card. Why did I get it? I wanted something a slight tier above what I had before and I didn't want to spend ridiculous amounts of money for a gigantic graphics card beyond my needs. I don't play too many PC games or demanding games, so this felt right. The more demanding games I have to play on Low because I have a 2560x1440 monitor.
I'll probably stick to the 60 tier for my next upgrade. At least it will certainly be better performance-wise and hopefully it isn't so expensive.

6 year old PC with a GTX 1650 Super. I bought the 1650 Super in January, upgrading from a 660. I don't have a lot of money to spend right now, but really needed to upgrade to do some of the things I want/need to do, and decided that the 1650 Super gave me the performance I needed (for 1080p/60 Hz) at a reasonable cost (I paid about $225 Canadian/$168 US). It's really meant to be a temporary measure that'll last me a couple years or so, where I'll hopefully have the money to upgrade to something really good. Looking forward to seeing how the next generation of GPUs turn out.

I went with an Nvidia card because their drivers work well on Linux (I've been using mostly Linux for over a decade), and Nvidia is what I'm familiar with. AMD cards sound like they work pretty well with the open source unofficial drivers, so I am keeping an eye on them when I'm ready to make a bigger upgrade, but aside from price I don't really have much reason to switch since Nvidia has worked well for me in Linux all these past years. We'll see how things are at the end of 2021/beginning of 2022.

Because I am a 3D Artist/Character Designer and 24GB was a bit of a necessity for that plus a few other Deep Learning workloads. Planning on adding another within the next few months for NVLINK pooling.

This is what I have. I choose Asus because they usually have some of the best coolers and is very popular brand in my country, so easy to resell. 11GB VRAM was so forward thinking of Nvidia, which meant this GPU kept being relevant and up-to-date all this time.

But now I'm eager to upgrade to 3080Ti.
