I noticed in the last few months some of these streamers playing slots? The streamers that refuse to do so has gained a lot of respect from me.
The small possibility of influencing one of your followers to ruin their lives by gambling is pretty awful.

Can't say I'm surprised, although I think the US generally reacts with more outrage to things like gambling than other countries.

It really helps the ruining of Twitch, I don't see how legit gambling can be allowed on a site where the minimum age requirement is 13.

With this much money offered, the gambling site must make big returns with the viewers throwing their money at it. Hope it gets banned.

This seems to start happening even in countries where gambling laws are very strict.
I wonder if we'll ever see a streamer go to jail for illegal gambling or illegal advertisement of gambling.

... At least they can pay the best lawyers I guess. What a world.

Twitch having a dedicated "Slots" channel that is always near the top of views has always been the most fucking bizarre thing to me.

It makes it feel like Twitch is one big primetime news story away from losing a bunch of advertisers and getting in trouble with the EU if they don't clean up.

It seems the obvious play is for Twitch to make a second 18+ only site for gambling and adult-only streams that separates the advertiser pool and prevents streaming to certain countries, but what do I know.

Woof, this is some gross shit right here. I admit I don't use twitch so I don't know how things usually go with this sorta thing, but I'm surprised there aren't strict rules enforced by the company to keep this off it's platform.

Lol. My friendd has been showing me these AdinRoss streams where he basically wstes 500k$ in under 30 mins playing slots or those stupid mine games. Guess thats how hes getting his cash, this shit is fucking stupid. And people on twitrch actually believe hes wasting his own money or something, when clearly its the website just giving him funds to promote them

Its an awful influence too

I've been waiting for it for years but yeah everything in this post is what's been in my mind too.

Twitch needs to crack down hard on this shit. It's enough for it to blow up in media and they will get themselves in a bunch of trouble both legally and financially with advertisers pulling out. This would affect any streamer that is not associated with any type of gambling.

Yeah it's crazy, only a matter of time before twitch has its real first adpocalypse moment. They've been playing with fire for too long to not get burned

what's even worse is I decided to watch a stream a couple days in a row and then I realized the entire stream was fake. The chat? all bots. the gameplay on screen? all repeating. Had tons of viewers.

I reported to Twitch what was happening... they didn't do a damn thing about it.

I get some serious organized crime vibes from the slots category.

I don't really use Twitch but everything I see recently is pointing toward it turning into a cesspool.

It'll be so stupid when it happens too because they' had to do was take the time to actually for good what shouldn't be allowed on their platform and issue actual punishments for violators.

Does Twitch want to be the softcore porn and gambling site, or not? This shouldn't be a difficult question to answer.

It's all really shady. But I don't think Twitch will do anything, until they get bad press from it

It's disgusting and I look forward to the day mainstream outlets catch on and start publishing stories about this, especially in countires with strict gambling laws.

They are. Then they'll over correct so hard people that say fuck will have a hard time finding advertisers.

Twitch is on the same trajectory Youtube was pre "adpocalypse"

It really is ridiculous how they get away with it.

Its like Twitch expects the site to just monitor/moderate itself sometimes..

In most cases is completely illegal too. The hot site streamers are pushing lately literally says when you load the Website that it is not allowed by law to be used by Americans living in the United States. So they VPN it up and make their money selling fake odds etc.

Theres an Aussie Gambler streamer who plays dumb and is like for some reason this site wont load for me at home. So I use and then they hawk their sponsored VPN as well. The reality being the site is blocked in Australia

Reminds me of when they were shilling csgo skins/keys. I haven't really seen many pushing the gambling on users (like with promo codes and such), but yeah, it couldn't definitely influence people just from watching.

The crazy thing with the massive payouts streamers get for this, imagine the RoI that must be happening for that to be sustainable. That has to be getting a lot of the viewers to drop money into it.

What happened to all the "think of the kids" arguments thrown around during the hot tub stream meta?

Much less of an uproar with the gambling streams compared to that.

Well, as with everything it depends

I watch a fair amount of poker streams, hand exposure and watching how others handle hands and betting can improve your knowledge of the game.

However, they have always been a poker streamer. I do know of another that has switched from gaming to poker streaming as well.

But the slot streamers, race betting streamers, the other sports better streamers.
I'm not sure if there is a line or if it isn't already crossed.

However, if this is allowed why isn't hot tub streaming and the like? You can't say yes to gambling, violence and profanity and no to sexuality.

Are they promoting it as sponsored, I thought it was a requirement per fcc.
It's only a requirement if the FTC cares, which in Twitch's case they haven't really cared yet. Youtube had to get serious about it because the FTC went after them, albeit very moderately, for their blatant COPPA non-compliance but Twitch has seemingly completely gone under the radar. Eventually Amazon will get hit with some pretty hefty fines over it. Their guidelines for streamers about sponsorship are completely useless, it's consists of exactly 6 sentences and 3 videos none of which lay out in clear language what you are required to do by law, and they clearly don't give a shit about ensuring their users are in compliance.

I wasn't making an analogy comparing Gatorade to gambling habits lol. It was in response to posts surprised at how much money twitch streamers actually see by doing shit.
That makes more sense.
I'm assuming they're being paid by the hour but also being "paid" the money to gamble that they can't actually do anything with? They also probably can't take away any of their winnings if it's "borrowed" money right?
This is a mess to think about.

Rumblings are the deals usually let them keep around 25% of the winnings. So they get their hourly sponsorship money and 25% of winnings. Which is why you'll see someone like XQC somehow magically get 2 400k jackpots in a short span of time. Something no slot machine is doing on the legit regular. Because it creates massive hype and they only have to give him the 200k meanwhile people are like that could be me getting 800k.

All again while being illegal as a US Resident Gambling Online on a website that warns is not allowed to be used by Americans due to laws

I bet that shit is rigged towards the streamers, so that it looks like they're winning often.

I bet that shit is rigged towards the streamers, so that it looks like they're winning often.

The rig is even more obvious for the full time slot streamers - streamers are given big bonus wagers from the casino site when their balances get too low, so they always have enough to "beat" RTP over the long run and can afford getting huge wins even when the wins eventually dwindle down to losses. The catch, of course, is that they can't ever actually withdraw these earnings - so it's basically play money. Viewers don't really absorb the constant losses that happen the vast majority of the time, but big occasional wins are obviously turned into widely shared hype clips, and the casino gets to make it look like anyone can get a big win.

Since the streamers can't truly withdraw winnings, the casino pays these streamers separate sponsorship amounts to continue streaming.

Now when it comes to xQc and other non-full time slot streamers, they aren't given big bonus wagers (as far as I know), so they are playing with what is their own money and they can withdraw at any time - but, as the OP in this thread points out, they are given absolutely huge bonus payments by the casinos to do this since RTP will otherwise statistically cause them to gamble themselves into a loss otherwise.

Pretty pathetic to be making millions of dollars, than using that influence you have as a streamer and promote gambling...

This is still going on and Twitch has done nothing about it.

Just now, Trainweckstv, the worst gambling streamer on Twitch who moved to Canada to do it legally, admitted to being paid $1 million a month from the website he uses.

What. The. Fuck.
