I don't know how else to post images, cause I'm apparently internet stupid But I love this movie. It came out originally around 9/11, so it was pulled, and when it rereleased it didn't do so well. But gosh darn it, I love the cast and the humor.

I really appreciate all of these movies, especially The Loved Ones, I fucking adore that movie. Drop Dead Fred was a classic from my childhood.

I will forever go to bat for " Eyes Wide Shut", I give it rewatch at least once a year (during Christmas haha). It's so frustrating that I want to know everything about that underworld Kubrick presents to you but you just get a tiny taste of it argh

Critic's didn't enjoy it. It didn't make bank at the box office. Some would call it Darren Aronofsky's weakest film. However, I absolutely love this film to bits. Definitely in my top ten films of all time and such an underrated masterpiece.

Good Burger is the single most underrated film on this Earth. Cinematic excellence. These other movies need to go into the grinder.

Pain and Gain. I know people here hate Bay and there're valid reasons to dislike how film handled the story it was based on, but fuck it, "this is an american dream" at the end was more interesting to me than the entirety of The Wolf of Wall Street.

Oh, and 90% of Tony Scott's filmography with Man on Fire as a top example fits too.

Rocky V.

It's not as good as Rocky IV... or III, or II, or the original, or Rocky Balboa, or Creed... but I think that it's an okay Rocky movie, while other people act like it's a terrible abomination that should be purged from the Rocky canon.

On that note, I'll also put forward Cars 3. It's an okay Rocky movie, while people act like it's a terrible abomination that should be purged from the Pixar canon.

Muppet Treasure Island - We had a thread here last year named What's the best Muppet Movie? and it had 110 replies or something and only 5-6 people named it their fav. Muppet movie. For me it's one of the funniest movies of all time.

Life (1999) - Flopped and got mixed reviews. It's peak Eddie and Martin imo. It's a classic in my group of friends and maybe the most quoted movie in our group.

Down Periscope - People barely know it exists. I love this movie.

Lars and the Real Girl - Great movie and Ryan Gosling with a top 5 acting performance this century. But nobody saw it.

One of my fav. movie when I was a kid but I rewatched it last year and it didn't do much for me, outside of Tim Curry

Considering how bad action movies have become over time, watching Clash of The Titans recently made me realize that it wasn't so bad after all.

Gangster. No. 1

If you ever wondered why Paul Bettany is a popular fan casting for Joker. And Malcolm McDowell doing that thing he does where he's great

Easily Dark City.

The movie is drenched in atmosphere and amazing sets, and it's so well made.

Sky Captain is a damn good pick too.
That's a great one.

Circle on Netflix, the entire move is people standing in circles and debating who will die next.

Snatch is #100 on imdbs top movies of all time and is regularly brought up in classic discussions. Not underrated at all.

Lost to the times then , over here (in real life) the damn thing is unknown each time i bring it up ;) Dark City is much more famous for example (or Existenz for odd reasons) .
Not as obscure as The Florida Project but still.
Oh and since it's not a 10/10 on imdb, it's underrated to me ahaha.

If you want rating as in imdb rating...

Obviously it's all subjective but being the 100th greatest movie ever with an absurd amount of votes is a pretty good indication that it's a very well regarded movie. It even had a tv show made after it.

The parole officer. It's an average 6/10 kind of comedy but as it seems to be completely forgotten I think it counts as underated.

Plus it made me laugh a few times which is more that can be said for a lot more highly regarded comedies I've endured.

Been pushing Trey Edward Shults' Krisha since 2015. Highly rated and yet nobody went to see it or talks about it.

Mishima by Paul Schrader. An incredible achievement in every regard, yet I hardly ever see it mentioned, le alone recognized for the masterpiece it is.

What a random pick. I only watched it back in the day because of the Offspring, but I remember IT being a pretty cool movie.

I love this movie and consider it one of the best horror movie of the past 20 years, but The Monster (same director) is a very underrated little gem. If you haven't seen it, check it out.

For lovers
apparently there's a sequel written that cavill says he'd be interested in returning - I think it's Guy Ritchie's best film in a decade but the marketing I saw was super weak- I suspect everyone involved knew it was a good action film and just didn't land right.

not sure how you fix that next time but I'd watch it.

So, I watched UNCLE again last night and did some brief reading after. Still great, only problem with it is how they overexplain the sleights. Movie made $100 million WW which is doable for a sequel IF you got the budget down (movie cost $~80 million). The problem with that is one of the reasons the movie is so good is the money spent on the production design. As gforguava mentions above, the action is deemphasized and isn't where the money went. Instead, Ritchie and co went to great lengths to recreate these gorgeous 60s settings, and the costuming is A+ (Vikander is so damn glamorous holy shit).

The max you could spend on a sequel is in the range of $45 million, and I don't think you can do all that great production stuff for that cost while also adding another action setpiece that would be needed to sell the movie to a wider audience.

I just finished watching The Man from U.N.C.L.E. again and it's so damn good.

Never going to understand how it bombed. The style, the music, the cars, everything in this movie is great, and it feels like Guy Ritchie is just having fun. Good cast, especially Elizabeth Debicki, who is perfect in her role.

I've watched this movie 5 times now, and every time I appreciate it more.

Heh, yeah like I said above I also rewatched it last night. It's just so easy and charming. Summer breeze of a movie.

It's one of the reason why I went to Edinburgh.

I wanted to cite this movie earlier, but I know how divisive it was at the time. But yeah, for me, I think it's so underrated and misunderstood. Is it flawless? No, but it has craft and ambition for days. The movie is truly visionary, as far as I'm concerned.

Synechdoche, New York. I know about the recent international critic lists and the renewed appreciation of this masterpiece, but it FLOPPED when it came out and has only 68% on RT.

This is the definitive Art House movie for the melancholic and the world weary, of which there seem to be quite many around here. If it weren't for Mulholland Drive, this would by the best movie of the 21st century so far.

Watch it! (And then tell me about how it makes no sense šŸ˜€)

My suggestion is Matchstick Men, because it feels like a forgotten film. It's a black comedy crime film directed by Ridley Scott and stars Nicholas Cage, Sam Rockwell, and Alison Lohman. I went into it blind, and was completely sucked in.

I think it's Bugs Life. It was one of the Pixars and movies in general that had the most impact to me, and I can remember it pretty vividly, but I don't see it getting a lot of attention compared to other Pixars.
