What's the best 'unreleased' game? To qualify, the game must've never had any sort of official 'final' release directly from its developer or publisher, even if released for free later down the road. I realize that plenty of games get canceled because of development issues, but surely there are some incredible games out there that never saw an official release, right?

How would we know if they're incredible if they were never released

Half-Life on Dreamcast was pretty amazing despite the save-game size issues, I think it was actually the first way I played through Half-Life.

Bunglesmunch III: The wrath of the Squalid Fungleweed

It was developed in my mind, sadly never saw an official release

Human Head's "Prey 2"

Still hurts man, still hurts. Still boggles my mind how the actual released Prey was actually a new System Shock, that only one thing in common with the original Prey: the fact it has aliens. That's about it. I know a lot of people enjoyed the game and many were craving for that kind of game, but that has absolutely nothing from what I wanted from a Prey game. Prey 2 looked like an incredible and ambitious expansion to that universe. The released product is not Prey, not to me.

Project Titan (Blizzard).

Supposed to be the successor to WoW, as in, the next big MMO from Blizzard.

The market changed and we got Overwatch out of it (apparently, parts of Destiny as well), so it's all good, I guess.

But I really wanted Titan.

What an odd thread. We've never played any of them, by definition.

This is that weird tic of over-discussing fragments - e.g. 'Shangheist' (one video of a concept, that's it) gone to 11.

Does P.T. count?

P.T. (Silent HIlls notwithstanding whatsoever) is my game of the generation and the most graphically pretty game on PS4 too, and it came out in 2014.

I would be liked to give Capcom Fighting All Stars a shot. It had some really obscure characters and some others made specially for the game. Instead, we got Capcom Fighting Jam, basically a CAPCOM take on the MUGEN concept. And a shitty one i may add. Later most of those characters appeared in others Capcom fighting games.

Ingrid - First appearance later on Capcom Fighting Jam. She got a 3D Model as a place holder for Chun-li in Tatsunoko .vs Capcom
Batsu - Later as playable in Tatsunoko .vs Capcom
Alex - Playable in tatsunoko .vs Capcom

Ryota Niitsuma (TvC producer) also stated after MVC3 development that Akira, Hinata, Charlie Nash, Mike Haggar and Strider Hiryu were all considered for TvC as playable characters. The last two were selected for Marvel .vs Capcom 3 as playable later. The only missing one would be Poison, D.D and Rock. Capcom hasn't even stated those original ones even existed outside of Fighting All-stars :P

The only 'unreleased' game I think I've ever played would be Star Fox 2, which eventually got released anyway.

For me it's probably Lily Bergamo, if it counts. I liked pretty much everything Grasshopper Manufacture put out.

I was still unsure about the whole open world thing. It wasnt going to be much like the first.

Machine Games would make an awesome sequel to Prey 2006, I reckon.

Better than what we got that's for sure.

Looked really interesting.

Also Prey 2 and Thrill Kill (which got leaked and can be playable right now).

I didn't realize that she was supposed to appear in Fighting Jam first. I thought she was an original character created for Alpha 3 Max.
Yep. Ingrid first game was Capcom Fighting Jam/Evolution. Tho she was supposed to be one of the original characters from All Stars (the one that was cancelled). She didn't appeared in Street fighter until the PSP MAX version of Alpha 3.

I was really looking forward to Agartha because it was by the Alone in the Dark, Toy Commander, Twinsen's Odyssey dude. It's a shame he's done little to nothing of note since the DC days. That last game he worked on got slammed in the reviews...

From what I heard he wasn't going to continue it and made it only as a demo. Sucks because that atomsphere the trailers had was something special.

This had a 50:50 chance of being dogshit but I would have taken those odds with Aliens: Crucible by Obsidian.

If anyone at SEGA is reading this, I am still pissed!
