Toho does theatrical and Disney does home, right? That's interesting. They kinda sorta do since they still do all the distribution in Japan. Yes; they gave up the NA distribution but not in Japan.
Universal Studios would probably be even more pissed that more of their theme park IPs are going to the mouse.
Yeah, I don't want to see them get any closer to a monopoly than they already are.Jesus Christ, the amount of our popular culture that Disney owns already is disgusting enough as it is. Like them or not, Nintendo is a good example of a large, global company that still has some decent creative integrity left in them. So let's not.

Nintendo doesn't own Pokémon. The Pokémon Company does. They are separate.
Nintendo's Perrin Kaplan said:"It would be a great investment," said Perrin Kaplan, vice president of marketing and corporate affairs for Nintendo. "We're a very successful company. But the bad news for Mr. Gates is we're not for sale."
for sake of humoring the idea (not saying it'd be a good/bad/possible thing)... let's say if it were to happen, disney's so large at this point and nintendo is so much it's own sovereign entity, i'm not sure a whole lot would change. though 10-20 years later as dedicated hardware is a harder sell they would "gobble it up" probably
Yup Disney needs to stay in their own lane.Disney wouldn't know what to do with Nintendo, honestly. They aren't very good with making video games.
Nah, the reverse would cause the most meltdownsThis is far from the most epic meltdown possible. My vote goes for Sony buying Nintendo as the thing that would break this site.

Its incredible how obsessed people on this forum are with Disney vacuuming up every company and property ever. When the Spiderman issue happened with Sony there were tons of people saying shit like "put Sony out of their misery, their film studio is trash and Disney can make use of their IPs". Then you had the thread about iger wanting to buy bond and people talking about how Disney could do it right. Disney is one of the scariest corporations given how successful they've been at making people cheer on their overwhelming growth as they continue to absorb every ip ever.
Not with video games though....if they have more people like Feige around that know and care about the franchises then i don't see how it's so negative like you put it. The way they handled Marvel and star wars (until solo happened) was great.
For all this doom talk let's not forget what kind of output disney releases yearly, be it animation studios, pixar, etc. They are the kings for a reason, with probably the best legacy ever.

Heh. Yeah when you land in Kyoto there's a huge Mario display to greet you. This would be truly awful.
Thankfully I don't think the Japanese government would allow it. It's too ingrained as a cultural pride point for them. Mario is basically the face of the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.
TPC is a brand management firm owned equally by Nintendo, Gamefreak, and Creatures.Nintendo doesn't own Pokémon. The Pokémon Company does. They are separate.
i can't see it happening. one's a big soulless corporation, the other's disney.
