40" Samsung DLP in 2006. I was a Junior in college. Put it in a circuit city card to build credit at the time lol.

Gears of War on the 360 looked amazing on it though.

Looked similar to this one: 720p HD-ready Samsung HDTV I bought with my 360 back in 2005. For like 1.200 Euro or so xD

First was a Sony KDL-40W4000 from 2008 that I used until 2020. Still worked and sold it on to a new home; brought a Sony XH95 as a replacement.

I bought a Samsung 32" 1080i CRT back in 2004 for like $900. Monstrosity weighed over 200 lbs, was still 4:3 aspect ratio, but man that thing had amazing picture quality.

It sat unused at my parents house until last year when I had to pay someone to come and take it since they were moving and it was too much for them to handle alone.

This was me as well. This was the TV they used in all the Xbox 360 demo pods in the UK, and it was - for a time - the de facto "OMG THE FUTURE IS NOW" display. I dread to think what I paid for it, since I was in university at the time, but it definitely wasn't cheap.

I remember having it delivered, plugging in the component cables, playing PGR3 at 720p, and feeling like graphics were never going anywhere further. And while PGR3 is still quite a nice-looking game in many respects, obviously I was very wrong there.

This was also the TV that put me off Samsung electronics for life. I had to have the power supply replaced TWICE, the speakers would randomly cut out, and a bunch of other issues arose in the time I owned it. But for that initial ownership experience alone, that picture still brought back a lot of fond memories.

The very first HD TV I got was from Circuit City and it was some piece of shit 720p set that I had for about a week. I remember playing Saints Row on it and even with zero experience in that space I knew it was garbo. I boxed it back up and returned it. I went back to my 32inch CRT for awhile.

tbh I was mostly playing games on my PC anyway so I didn't need it. I think it wasn't until a few months later that I got a Toshiba but I don't remember if it was full 1080p HD or not but I think it was.

A 46 inch TCL 1080p TV in 2012. My first big screen TV was the 70 inch Sharp Aquos in 2014, which was quickly replaced with my first 4K TV, a 70 inch Vizio.

No idea when I first saw one, but it probably would've been in some electronics retailer when I was a kid. The first one my family owned was a Mitsubishi WS-48513 DLP TV, probably around 2003? It was a massive beast that only did 480i/p and 1080i I believe.

s-l500.jpg

My mom used that until like 2018 until I replaced it for her with a TCL 4 series cause the picture was dim as shit and it took up way too much space. The first one I personally owned was a Samsung LN52A650 I got in 2008 and I still use that today.

Pioneer Kuro 5020FD, had it up until I upgraded to an LG C9 in 2019, so ten years.

It's now serving my Aunt and Uncle in their living room.

My first was a 1366x768 26" Vizio I got fall 2007 when I moved into a dorm. It worked fine for the first year. I ended up lugging it out to the floor's common area a few times so my friend group could watch blu-rays via my ps3 instead of the tiny tv and dvd player in the area. When I started researching TVs more, however, I realized how basic it was. Had some absolutely godawful overscanning that cut off a good chunk of the image with no way to fix it. Next was a 40" 1080p Sony for Christmas 2009. Great TV, used it until late 2017 when I bought my 49" 900e. It's currently in my old bedroom at my parents' with a firestick plugged in.

Samsung LE32Rxx (1366x768) in late 2005 early 2006. Original Xbox looked sharp as hell.

Panasonic Plasma, 42" from 2007/8 I think.
It was really good for the time as LCDs from this period had horrible poor viewing angles & motion resolution, etc

I had optional integrated stand with shelves, PX70B:

56" Samsung, I think, DLP TV. Got it in 2001 as a graduation present. Mom, Grandmother, Brother, Aunt all went in together and got it for me. Used it for about 10 years.

2008, my parents bought a 50" LG Plasma, but because it was the living room, I rarely ever played games there.

My own first HDTV was a 720p 32" Sony Bravia in 2010? Second year of university and it was the first thing I bought for my place.

It's was a 42in Panasonic plasma tv, mid 2000s. Heavy as hell and made the room hot. It was glorious though. I had a big ass Sony wega crt before that.

It was a Sony rear projection LCD HDTV I bought in 2004. Was pretty great for the time. I think it was a 50", and it went up to 1080i.

It was one of those 26" Samsung LCDs that came out around the time of the Xbox 360 launch and seemingly everyone had because they were affordable and released alongside something that would produce a reasonable amount of HD stuff to put on it.

Terrible TV by modern standards, but coming from my 13" TV/VCR combo it was something else.
Yeah, I recall there being a couple of those. I had this one as my first HD TV:

Thing was massive and so heavy. Followed a few years later by a 50" Pioneer Kuro then a 65" Panasonic Viera, which I'm still rocking. Really want to upgrade but hard to justify while my TV still works fine.

It was a 32" 1080i TV.
I think it was Samsung.
I bought it for Final Fantasy XIII from one of my brother's friends.
I think it was during the 2009/2010 Christmas break. Not sure exactly when.

That TV was destroyed in a car wreck while moving into my dorm in Summer 2012.
I replaced it with my brother's old 32" 720p LG TV, since he had recently upgraded to a 43" 1080p.

That TV lasted until late 2016, when I got a 60" 4K Samsung KS800 for Final Fantasy XV.

32Inch Samsung something that I bought in 2009.
I was living with my grandparents at the time and was playing COD World at War, my grandfather passed by and thought I was somehow playing Saving Private Ryan. He was blown away.
Still got that tv, its now being used to exclusively stream Pinkfong and Cocomelon.

I got a 720p/1080i Samsung HDTV CRT at Target on clearance for $100 in 2005. The damn thing weighed around 120 pounds, but it was amazing and I was very sad when it died.

A Dell plasma. I was younger and horrified to learn that it did not actually output 1080i, but rather had a panel with a native res of 1366x768.

Overall it was still pretty great except for the absolutely terrible speakers and eventually taking 10 minutes to turn on after it was about 10 or so years old. It also had overscan that could not be turned off which was annoying.

Also, holy shit that thing was heavy as hell. Really makes you appreciate newer tvs.

Some shitty Mirai 32" with only one HDMI connection we got for the apartment back in 2006. It's still going today, though it was damaged a few years back when the water tank in the attic flooded, and it's only HDMI port no longer works. It's VGA and Component ports work though, and it's connected up to a media pc and a Wii keeping my nephews and niece happy.

My Sony Wega 4:3 CRT actually has a letterboxed 1080i mode and an HDMI port so I guess it's probably that.

When Obama got elected I told myself it was time and purchased a 46" 1080p Sceptre from Costco for like ~$800 which arrived the weekend right before the inauguration in 2009. It was glorious!

Some Samsung Full HD panel. It's still working perfectly and looks much better than my LG Smart TV I bought in 2014-ish or so

I bought a 42" Panasonic Plasma TV (720p!) on Black Friday 2007 at Circuit City so I could play Gears of War in HD on my Xbox 360. I think it was almost $1,700 but I had my first "real job" and living within my means, so I was pretty good on cash.

It was some crappy Samsung 768p LCD TV that I bought in 2006.

Downgrade from any CRT that I've ever owned in just about every way. It also died only two years in. Last time I bought a Samsung TV and the last time I ever bought a TV without extensive research beforehand.

I got a 32' Bush LCD in early 2006 for my Xbox 360, it only went up to 768p, though, so it was more of a "HD Ready" TV. It didn't have a HDMI slot so I had to use VGA. It was actually pretty decent for what it was.

It's model looked pretty much like this one:
