Minecraft without a doubt.
If Fortnite is still a powerhouse in 5 years then maybe that could be considered as well.

The answer's really easy, it was Minecraft.
Fortnite, Grand Theft Auto V, Five Nights at Freddy's and League of Legends also have strong cases to be made. But it's still Minecraft.

Pokemon Go had the biggest peak of any game this decade, but it wasn't one that lastest all that long before dropping most of it's players. Otherwise Fortnite and Minecraft are up next.
I'd say Fortnite, at least at the moment. After that, there's the likes of MineCraft and Grand Theft Auto V. PUBG is also pretty big
Haven't seen anyone say PuBG. PuBG is freaking huge. Between mobile in PC, last I recall, it's bigger than Fortnite worldwide. Only opposed by Minecraft
They're really not, Pokémon Go managed 1 billion downloads earlier this year and it's MAU record is well above both too (147m in May 2018). It's a cultural phenomenon on a scale we arguably haven't seen in gaming before.
