"Yeah, let's let users film themselves doing whatever they want and broadcast it to strangers over Xbox Live, and let's make family pastime Uno the flagship game for it."

what a strange episode in gaming that peripheral was.

Hey I remember it was cool for Rainbow Six. It let you put your face on your guy for multiplayer and was neat at the time

man, Uno was a wild experience to live through in those days.

Same with the Live from PlayStation during the early months after ps4 launched. Easily the most memorable part about the console in its early days

To be fair, I am pretty sure PS4 streaming when it launched also had people having sex on camera.
The uStream era of PS4 was a glorious time. People just drunkenly streaming their living room as AstroBot floated around.

I definitely saw a stream once that was cut off all of a sudden, likely due to....er, unsanctioned activity about to happen lol

One of the funnier things I've ever seen. "TTP" (time to penis) was literally almost 0 on UNO.

There was always some dude who pointed the camera at another TV playing porn. UNO was something.

Pretty sure they figured it had worked for Nintendo (gameboy camera) and Sony (eyetoy) previously, and figured the network aspects would just be gravy.

It was the best thing they ever did. Those UNO nights were a blast. It was the original chat roulette.

I remember how it would take a picture of you in burnout when you were taken down and the person who did it would see your reaction.

I remembering buying the camera jumping into uno and seeing people dressed in kkk outfits. I packed it up and brought it right back to the store.

Don't pretend for a moment that they didn't know what they were doing with Uno. They knew exactly what they were doing with Uno

I mean it made possible one of the best games of all time, You're in the Movies. So I'd say it went pretty well.

The main thing I remembered about the Xbox camera was people using it to have funny faces on their Rainbow Six Vegas character.

I think during the early days of online gaming, video chat seemed like the natural, inevitable evolution of voice chat.

Considering voice chat already wasn't a beacon of intelligent, family-friendly conversation - I don't entirely see what else they thought would happen.

I am currently using it as a webcam for my PC with the entire WFH situation and webcam prices being so high.

It is soooooooo bad.

What were they thinking from anywhere between 2009 and 2013? It's best we don't dwell.

I still miss the days of Burnout Paradise and getting that split-second shot of someone's face as you smash them into a building. Priceless.

They had the right intention, but unfortunately people were shit. I remember the first day with Uno and it was fine. After that it was best to keep the games at a friend level.
