I don't play on anything that's not a monitor. I find big TVs just don't offer a good experience both in terms of latency but also because I find it easier to focus in on the detail with a desk setup. I don't like having a TV so large that I have to move my eyes a lot to see everything, and you might say that it depends on you're viewing distance, but if you're buying a really big TV and then sitting quite far away, why bother with the big TV at all?

With that said, for next gen stuff I'm stuck waiting for a next generation of monitors. So that's a bit unfortunate.

Got the Sony X900H/XH90 two days before the PS5 launched here (55".) Extremely happy with it, though you need to be aware there's absolutely gonna be some blooming. Still impressed with how deep the blacks get.

I know that at least in Europe, a lot of the lower-end Samsung and TCL models do not have parity with their American counterparts, so I'd stay away from those — not sure what it's like in Australia. Sony and LG seem like the safest buys at the moment. For me the upgrade has definitely been worth it.

I'm on a Samsung KS9000 since 2016 and have semi satisfied thus far. Looking to buy a CX soon hopefully. Stupid question but, anyone upgraded from a KS to CX? Impressions?

Does the LG C8 do 1080p120 in HDR or only SDR? Can anyone post the PS5 display check screen? Thanks! I have the 65 inch and it is a truly beautiful TV. I hope missing VRR is not a big problem and that games get optimized for stable framerates...

I did. Had a 65in KS9000 too, then got a 65 CX a few weeks ago. The biggest differences to me are:

- true blacks
- no more blooming. This always surprises me since I have gotten so used to height-tall columns of blooming with the Samsung when enabling smart led/local dimming
- significantly improved off-axis viewing angles (I don't sit perfectly centered to the TV so shifted colors was always a problem for me with the KS)

yes, it doesn't get as bright but you easily forget about that and just notice the ridiculous improvement in contrast from the oled panel. Other positives are all the other features and advancements just not available with the Samsung: hdmi 2.1, 4k 120hz 4:4:4, even lower input lag, working black frame insertion (never understood why our TV never did BFI like the KS8000), VRR, ALLM, etc

X900E. I can't get the full experience from the PS5 but it's more than good enough for me. May upgrade down the road but I'm living in a bedroom for the foreseeable future and so I won't have a full A/V experience regardless

I can't decide on what TV to get, looking at the X9000H for my PS5 but don't know if it's worth upgrading my 1080p TV just for games because I don't watch TV lol.

The upgrade is worth it not just due to the improved image quality due to resolution, but more importantly, HDR, which can be pretty spectacular.

And even if you don't watch TV, the ability to watch Youtube at 4K60fps is also very very nice.

I'll be using a 52" TCL 4K television that I purchased in late 2017. I like it a lot. Its "HDR" is the uh, quasi-HDR kind but that's it's only real downside. I don't plan to upgrade until it starts giving me grief, as great as real HDR does look.

I upgrade from a 49" KS to a 55" CX and agree with those points, the true blacks as well no more blooming make a huge difference. 120Hz and VRR support is amazing on games that support them too.

65" Samsung KS8000

It's served me well for about 3 years now, but I will probably be replacing it next year.

Was thinking about getting a 65" Samsung Q80T as some others here: could get irt for 1279€ for Black Friday.
Are Youall happy with it ? It has 1x HDMI 2.1, would be perfect for the PS5 I plan to buy in 2021.
Also want to buy a not to expensive sound bar with it.

However it doesn't have DolbyVision: would I missed it ? I have an AppleTV 4K.

LG CX 65 would cost me about 2.100€... the price difference is massive.

Sony x930e 65", which does 1000+ nit HDR and has better black levels than current Sony models, so no reason to upgrade outside of 120 hz/VRR which I'm not sure will really matter to me on consoles (especially 120 hz as I don't play multi-player games).

I have never owned an OLED before so I'm kinda worried about all the burn in issues on these panels though :( I game a lot although varied games not the same game for 24 hours.

I had similar concerns but I think as long as you vary your content/games you should be fine, I have a family so mine naturally has different content watched on it throughout the day. Make sure to keep all of the built in protections enabled like logo luminance adjustment, screen shift and after every 4 hours of use it does a mini pixel refresh when turned off so make sure you leave it in standby and not unplug it. I've also got into the habit of turning the screen off when I know I'll be leaving it sat for 10/15 minutes.

I think if you're sensible with it you will be fine and just enjoy it if you get one, it really is a great TV you won't be disappointed 😃

I'm worried about that as well, but it seems burn in has become less of an issue with each new iteration of TV, and I'll try to make sure I take breaks/ not game for more than 3 hours at a time just to be safe. Probably my biggest thing I need to change personally is not leaving the TV on when I take a break, as that seems like one of the bigger causes of burn in.

I just bought a TCL 55s535 for $450 and it totally gets the job done. It's a secondary TV for my parents house since I'm visiting remote for a while. It's not amazing but for the price it has exceeded expections. It doesn't get very bright on HDR, but the image quality is great with deep blacks and good colors.

I want a CX when I get back home but I can't justify the non-sale price. Anyone know a way to lock in a purchase somehow and just have it sitting there?

Sony 65 inch XBR900e. As much as I like my tv, seeing demon souls on an LG CX was almost a religious moment for me.

I use an LG SK8500 (UK spec). I've had it a few years.

It's an LCD with full array local dimming. But it's not got many zones so there is some blooming.

However that seems to affect media more than games and it's a great TV for HDR gaming. Can do some pretty bright highlights. Also supports 1080p120.

CX 65 from the sale. Pretty amazing as my first 4K tv but the HDMI-CEC implementation is annoying, to the point I turn it off.

Sony X950H. Great TV, but unfortunately doesn't support HDMI 2.1 like the X900H does. I got tired of waiting to get a 4K TV and it seemed like a lot of TVs had issues with their HDMI 2.1 implementation.

LG CX. Buy it, you won't regret it.
I just brought the LG CX 65" one day after getting the Xb series S and X and 1 day before the PS5 . I must say both sys look amazing on it .
CX 55

Won't be back to LCD after using this.
using a 48" LG CX as a gaming monitor. No regrets.
Same. Mine just got delivered on the 12th. The CX HDR just fundamentally changes how I appreciate games.

Nice 65 inch 4K tv with beautiful image quality and Ambilight. Never gonna buy a TV without Ambilight ever again, the atmosphere is just so much better with it. And it costs < 1000
