When I eventually get a place, it'll be around 45% most likely. Bums me out, but it is what it is.

Around 11.5% of my gross salary goes toward my half of the mortgage payment, with my spouse paying the other half. More with utilities of course.

18% in the SF Bay Area.

... thank god for rent control.

living in the same place for 16 years now. Sucks, but it saves me a ton of money.

My mortgage payment which covers, my mortgage, taxes and insurance is at like 24% of my take home or it was when I bought the house. Could be less now.

Like 40% now which is high but both pay & rent are low lol. Moving to germany soon and trying to find something at a lesser percentage. 40% is way too high.

20 percent. Feels okay. Could increase depending on interest rates, obviously.

26.5% of net on house payment which includes property taxes and homeowners insurance. Not terrible in LA.

Ohio
Gross: ~13%
Net: ~20%

Having a higher paying job has been nice, even if I'm spending more on rent now than I did just a few months ago.

33% of my gross income goes to my mortgage. Nor Cal. I've been putting in an extra $200/month to pay it off.

40-45% and that's with a deal because I know the LL personally and have since I was a kid. If I hadn't got that it would be 60% or more in any other setup.

Just to point out my wife is disabled so we rely on housing benefits to help. The local housing benefit allowance is just shy of £400 a month for 2 beds. The average local renting price is fast approaching £900 a month for a 2 bed. Our rent alone has increased £140 in 6 years. The benefit allowance available has increased by about £1.50 in the same time frame.

Shits fucked in short.

18% of net. Was closer to 50% when my partner was underemployed for a few years and I hope we never see those days again.

Roughly 33% on my rent alone, and that's my share as I split it with the wife.
So if I lived alone it'd be 66%

Net income, after taxes, 401k contribution, and health insurance premium: 46%
Gross income: 34%

The problem of living solo in an apartment very close to DC.

Now, I still save $600 a month and have decent disposable income besides, but man how much better off I'd be if I could knock my rent down by 25%.

That's pretty good money though! Where do you live that you're in a 1 br and spending 25% on it?

San Jose, CA

I'm actually fortunate to only be paying this much. It's pretty barebones (old, no in unit washer/dryer, no dish washer, no garbage disposal, etc) but most apartments of this size are usually $2000 if not considerably more.

I'm fortunate to have gotten a lovely old couple who never raise the rent.

35%, I wish it was lower to pay off my debt quicker. Fell into a bit of a whole fighting depression recently.

Probably about 30% on rent alone. With groceries, utilities, and car payment (because it's essential in LA) it's probably about 38-40%.

I'm looking at places right now and it's tough. I'm trying to spend no more than 35% of my net income to rent and utilities and I'm moving with a friend who makes about the same and has the same range which puts us at an upper limit of maybe 850 total or 425 each. The only place we've found that we like so far is $750 and includes water, trash, and sewage. And neither of us have rented a place before so we don't know what to expect for internet and electric and I haven't found any decent resources to help estimate that.

I desperately want to move out of my parents house. Unfortunately I'm going to need to get a second job to afford anything here in South Florida.

I pay a mortgage and overpay, so roughly 35%. I could pay less if I wanted (18%), but I don't spend money on much.
