Unlimited SaGa is a grossly underrated game, and one of the few times i will say it was simply misunderstood.

I love the way RDR2 and all other Rockstar games play.

I would miss the heft and physics if they ever decided to remove them from their playable characters.

Also, RDR2 has the most satisfying weapons and gunplay of any shooter I've played to date. This is due to a combination of realism, the way the guns handle, and the gore/damage/hit detection of enemies.

The gunfights remind me of those found in more modern, deconstructionist westerns like Unforgiven, The Assassination of Jesse James, etc.

The fight right before Chapter 5 I think
Right before you get on the boat to the island
. Is one of the most intense f***ing shootouts I've ever played. The wooden boards I'm taking cover behind literally turning to particles as I'm forced to find new cover, while STILL allowing me to feel badass as I down a bottle of booze while dual wielding a sawed off and hand canon. No other game gave me that this gen.

I agree 100%, I don't understand the people saying R* needs to make gameplay better. It's fine the way it is, they don't have to reinvent, maybe simplfy (after 80+ hours I'm still trying to remember certain prompts) if anything.

The PlayStation Classic is just an average product and not nearly deserving of all the pile-on hate it gets.

More and better story and less and less challenging gameplay is great.

That said, I still like pure gameplay games now and then. I just got to a point we're I don't want much challenge in games where I'm there mainly for the story. Ideal solution is just variable difficulty options like the latest tomb raider where you can tune the combat and puzzles. Let people play how they want.

The battle system in Final Fantasy X is actually the best in any Final Fantasy game bar maybe XV, actually allows you to prepare for the battle and use strategy without pressure.

I liked dragon age 2 conceptually a lot. Game had a lot of neat ideas.

I think Red Dead Redemption 2 has the best gameplay of any R* Open World game to date. Most of the problems people mention were the levelled at RDR1 at release.

I'd argue that MGSV is easily top three in the series. Its ending was superb and far more touching than MGS4's.

I reckon Splinter Cell: Blacklist rivals Chaos Theory for the top spot. The only reason it doesn't take it handily is because Amon Tobin did the soundtrack for CT and, of course, the lack of Ironside in Blacklist.

Most 3D Sonic games are at least fun.
While vastly inferior to Origins, Dragon Age 2 did some things right. I quite liked its contained nature (which would shine more if not for rehashed locations) and the companions. And finishing all the quests in a reasonable amount of time was feasible.
I don't regret my time with FFXIII and I enjoyed reading the Codex so whatever happened in the story didn't seem farfetched to me.

- The Witcher 3's combat system is multi-layered and nuanced, which in turn makes it one of the most enjoyable systems in gaming for those that are willing to learn its intricacies.
- Mass Effect 3's original ending was just fine and never should have been changed
- Dragon Age 2 has wonderful characters and story-telling making it my favorite DA game, and it's not particularly close

Star Fox Zero is the best game in the series, and I liked it because of most of the reasons people hated it. It's not without it's problems, but I think it's excellent. The 2-screen gameplay was something I really enjoyed, and reminded me of The World Ends With You. I don't think it was executed quite as well as TWEWY, but it was still very good. The walker added a new layer of gameplay that was quite a lot of fun. I think one one of my favorite moments in the game was on a small Venom planetoid when you're fighting Star Wolf by yourself, while you can fly around the whole planet. There's Death Star-style trenches that you can turn into a walker and walk through, using them to juke Star Wolf or chase them through them. The Wolfen can also turn into walkers of their own, and will go into of these trenches.

That said, I get why most people didn't like it and I respect that.

This one is slightly less controversial, but Kid Icarus Uprising is an excellent game and one of the best on the 3DS. I know a lot of people had issues with the controls, but if you hold the system supported with your pinky, or use the stand, it's a ton of fun. You have to master the "spinning globe" aiming system for the stylus. I would not recommend using the Circle Pad, D-pad, or buttons for aiming, as it just does not have the same level of precision, or allow you to make snap movements to enemies behind you. The ground sections were also better than the air sections in my opinion, but both were fantastic.

Sonic 06's reputation as an awful game is blown out of proportions. The game actually fine and can be enjoyed for what it is. Also it introduced Silver. Silver is goat.

Kid Icarus: Uprising has some of the best gameplay I've ever experienced, and that is thanks to the great and inovative control scheme that takes complete use of it's console.

This is all I can come up with right now. I like where gaming is headed also.

Also this is an even less controversial take: Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows Valentia is one of the best Fire Emblem Games. Definitely not THE best, as it has some problems, but it's one of my favorites for sure. The gameplay was very different and strange, and I think it's biggest weakness is the maps, but with the minor gameplay changes from the original, it does circumvent that a bit. I actually think Cantors were a good idea because with some of the harder maps, you actually have to plan your advances very carefully, and be able to take out the Cantor.

Holy Crap. Dude. It was so f***ing good. The swinging rivaled that of any console Spiderman including the newest and the levels were amazing. Not to mention the epic AF boss battles.

Feel like this is when Milhouse finds the other Milhouse, I honestly thought I bought the only copy of it and no one cared.

I'm a Devil May Cry fan and I enjoyed DMC and even bought the HD remaster.

My favorite PS4 launch window game is Knack. I also loved Knack 2. Both have really good co-op.

I also enjoyed The Order for what it is and think it doesn't deserve the insane amount of hate it gets.

Jak 2 is the best Jak game.

-Agents of Mayhem is great (with some faults, but still was really good).

-Saints Row The Third and Saints Row 4 asburdly wacky story is phenomenal and a thousnad times better than the shitty tripe GTA San Andreas like gang wars story of Saints Row 2.

-Star Fox Zero is equally as good as Star Fox 64/64 3D. The shooting mechanics were fantastic for the scoring system.

-Other M was fun, the combat mechanics were the best samus has ever gotten in 3d, and the story wasnt that bad.

Controversial on resetera (although people that have actually played the last games think this):
-Assassins Creed games have never been better.

Arkham Knights tank mode was cool. Granted they used it a little too much by the end there but had they just been a little more modest in its involvement it would have been great. That said, Origins is still the best Arkham.

The base building mode in Fallout 4 is a lot of fun (and the game in general is pretty great.)

Dragon Age 2 was still enjoyable despite its obvious flaws. It's actually my favorite fantasy world of all media.

SWTOR is the best MMO and still very fun as a single player experience in place of Kotor 3. Especially after they streamlined the progression to let you skip minor side quests and multiplayer content, which are no longer necessary to keep up with the story's level requirements.

Destiny 2s original casual friendliness was really nice. It allowed me to feel highly accomplished without demanding all my time that was better spent with other games or activities/work.

Gears of War Judgement is my favorite gears. It had the most refined gameplay, which is the real draw for me because I've never cared much about those steroid-boy plotlines. Literally laugh out loud whenever it tried to be serious. Shut up Dom idgaf I want to shoot shit.

Controversial on this forum? I like RDR2.

Also, Arkham Knight's Batmobile sections were fun and enjoyable. And MGSV is the best game in the series.

X/Y are casual games done right.
ORAS are great in every aspect. (I don't care about the Battle Frontier, there is enough postgame content)
SM/USUM/LGPE are horrible but I still trust GameFreak to create an amazing new generation.

Chrono Cross is more unique than Chrono Trigger and boasts a superior aesthetic and character design.

Dragalia Lost is a masterclass in progression design and developer generosity(Aww, more 10-pull tickets? You shouldn't have!). Nintendo should collaborate more with Cygames.

The Nintendo CDI games and Mario Super Show deserve to exist for parody material(see: Vinesauce's Lou Albano impersonations).

1. Battleborn is a very fun video game with decent execution of a bunch of pretty good ideas. Loved the incredibly varied roster of characters put together in a FPS shooter setting with PvP and PvE options.

2. Pokemon Let's Go has more good ideas than bad. It's an excellent remake of Pokemon Yellow and I hope they keep a lot of its ideas in the next game.

3. Injustice 2 is the best traditional fighting game released this generation for non-hardcore fighting game players.

4. Batman Arkham Knight is the best Batman game and the way they iterated on the moment-to-moment gameplay is more important than any of the structural differences to past games.

5. Madeline from Celeste is one of the best video game characters of all time.

6. Breath of the Wild's weapon durability system is fantastic and operates as a constant balancer to the game's difficulty.

7. ARMS is a really good fighting game and has a lot of depth to uncover. I think it's depth was overlooked because of the different places you have to look to find it.

8. Pokemon Sun & Moon are probably the best Pokemon games of all time.

9. inFamous Second Son is incredibly underappreciated and one of the most overlooked franchises of the generation.

Star Fox Assault had the roots of a good game, and if the level/mission design was more linear and fast paced, it would have birthed a franchise resurgence.

Duke Nukem Forever was decent

Second half of Dark Souls 1 is better than the first half

Relating to Dark Souls 1, I love Lost Izalith and wish it was bigger

Water Temple is fine and hate for it is blown out of proportion

Water levels in general are great

FFX's HA HA HA HA scene is fine and supposed to be awkward and goofy

Underwater escort section from MGS2 was fun and not even difficult. It's like people hear 'underwater escort' and then their brains go haywire and start exaggerating

Hitman 2 is probably one of the best stealth games of all time

Rosco McQueen Firefighter Extreme was great

GaaS is awesome (when done right), continuous updates that probably save me money because I'm spending a lot of time on one game

PSP is probably the best portable system

Loved Assault. Spent so many hours playing split-screen multiplayer with my friends. I totally agree, this should have been the direction the series went in.

Agreed! There were some great building blocks there, just way underdeveloped. With more dev time and design focus it could have been something big.

Honestly I think Fusion is the best Metroidvania of all time.

I dont think the aimless wandering or what people call exploration is good gameplay. And even though Fusion told you where to go, they twisted it enough so that getting there was fun.

Plus the "story" is how it should be done. You actually have goals and characters and context instead of just putting you on a planet with hidden story/lore that I feel like games are abusing nowadays

And yes Prime 3 is just as good as Prime 1 in my opinion.
I never understood "I want to get lost" people with this series. Like, I'll explore, but let me get a general idea of where I'm going.

Cinematic wide linear/linear games are the best games. I hope Sony keep doing more of those. Also i think Sony is a couple of step above of every other publisher/developer. Is not controversial, though.
