Geez, if you're going to ask the equivalent of $1M US (~$1.35M CDN) you'd think you would bother redoing your driveway and getting someone to actually look at the photos they take.

Grinding up against a golf course also seems like it would be a detriment.

Golf course adjacent in any major city or suburb is hugely desirable. Open views and low noise and traffic guaranteed and carefully maintained. You don't have to like golf. In some places it's second only to waterfront.

Why so many houses have so many bathrooms. Who the fuck needs more than 3 bathroom at one home?

Rich people stuff. Was in a house once where the master bath had joint sinks but then doors on each side that went into a his and hers toilet and shower with the shower having a removable divider so it can be merged. That house also had like 5 rooms that were 200 square feet with a piano, ceiling fan and sofa. Weird.

But nothing tops the super rich. I toured stan hywet once. Like a real life clue mansion. 65,000 sq feet with a full size swimming pool and gym in the basement, and a coal room with a dozen chimneys.

Number ones, number twos and number threes. Number threes are caused by eating foie gras and caviar.

But seriously one bathroom per bedroom and a downstairs pooper seems like a relatively reasonable thing to spend your riches on.

Mmmhmm. This is why when I was posting back in the "does 150k a year make you rich" thread I was arguing it depends where you live. Vancouver real estate situation is F U C K E D.
Yep, people just really don't understand what is like in a high cost of living area.

$1 million .... home? Good luck with that here in LA.

The cheapest home listing I see in my area is $3.6M for this beauty:

It's really crazy to see how NYC stacks up to basically anywhere else (but especially the southern states).

That milli gets you a damn shack in the city but head down to Florida and now you got 10 acres of land and a fucking lake. Ugh!

This thread is crazy. Even if I was rich I wouldn't pay that much for a home, only to be squished between a bunch of other homes.

Approximately a 900 sq ft shack that needs to be rebuilt, or a 2 bed 2 bath condo.

What defines a million dollar home? Are you living the suburbs? Or do you live in a major city like Stamford,CT where outside NYC costs get to you for owning a upscale home.

Argentina
In Argentina, the average monthly income should be around $555 right now. Here, $1.000.000 is an enormous quantity that would give you access to very privileged urban locations. Only a minuscule minority of the population could invest a sum of that magnitude in real estate.

In the western suburbs of Buenos Aires, where I come from, you could get a high-end house at a country club (private, enclosed urbanizations that spread widely since the nineties, in parts due to mobile phones and the proliferation of highways).
Example:

In downtown Buenos Aires, with a little more than that you can buy a very large (240 m2) and sumptuous Puerto Madero (an extremely exclusive, high-income neighborhood) apartment.

The Skinny House in the North End was sold in 2017 for $900,000.

The house was built by two brothers in 1884 to block natural light from the house next door; built by another brother without their permission on the land they all shared.

It's 10.4 feet at its widest point.

Yes but it was a tour and they sort of lob pass it to you. I guess a significant number of tourists freeze and get nailed in the face otherwise. Also last week I found out that the beautiful lake Washington I swim in every summer is festooned with eight foot three hundred pound living dinosaurs.

I'm in Ottawa. Anywhere from a 2 bedroom condo downtown or semi-detached in the Glebe to a 3000+ sq ft home on an acre of land depending on where you go. Prices can vary wildly based on the location as the city is not that big. It's very wide East-West but North-South prices can go down very quickly as you move away from the core.

According to Zillow the median home in my area is $1,863,700. I see some condos available for around $1MM, so I guess that. I just checked my small city though, probably could get a small home for that amount farther out.
