I fell out of love with FPS around the time COD Modern Warfare remaster came around , while I enjoyed the game , FPS just started to bore me in general (with the exception of Doom 2016) and ever since then I've just completely given up on the genre. I will always fondly remember the days when the Goldeneye 64 and Halo Combat Evolved days but my FPS love days are gone :(

Pixel art Roguelike games. At one point in time, it felt like it wasn't nearly as common as it is now for that genre to get new games that are great or at least worth playing but with how often we see those type of games getting announced (whether if it's in a Direct, random trailer announcement on Youtube, State of Play or even Inside Xbox), it just no longer clicks with me because I've played so many of them that they've began to all feel the same to me. It's just not as fun anymore and I no longer have any type of interest in that specific genre/type of game to the point where if it's being shown of during any type of game conference like the ones I mentioned, I immediately lose interest.

None, but I don't have the drive to grind rhythm games and put a ton of time into them like I used to. At least the past few years, I could see myself randomly getting into it again.

Fighting games. The combos just became too complicated for my boomer hands.

Fighting games. Used to play them all the time when I had friends and siblings to play with frequently.

After playing Bravely Default 2 recently, I think I might actually be moving from turn based RPGs and prefer action RPGs since I feel like I progress more in what limited time I have.

Honestly none that I can think of.

I've loved shooters, RPGs and action adventure games since the beginning and that hasn't changed.

Open world games, especially Ubisoft style stuff.

FPS games too. I can go for the really exceptional ones, but I have no interest in PvP or cod style games at the moment.

JRPGs. I loved them in the Nes/Snes/PS1&2 era. I pretty much avoid modern JRPGs like the plague now unless they are a throwback like Octopath or DragonQuest XI.

Base building RTS maybe? Even though I loved Starcraft 2 and C&C series I don't really have a desire to play another base builder.

Though then there hasn't really been a good base builder in awhile.

Complex strategy games.

4X games, management sims and the like.

I don't actually work in management, but I feel like these games drain energy from the same source my work does, so I just avoid them nowadays.

Strategy RPGs too, but I can tolerate if they aren't very hard.

Turn based JRPGs for the most part. For me to play one it would need to a hook like a absolute fantastic setting. Funnily enough Im less likely to play a modern turn based JRPG than one that was released 20+ years ago.

MMOs in general, used to be a genre I was always looking into a bunch of options to see what else I could try next, but ended up completely losing interest.

I still like the things I liked, though, so I didn't have any revelation that made me stop liking them, just lost interest in trying new ones. Every now and then I feel like going back to Tibia.

I'm not sure there's any genre that I've fallen out of love with—it's really more about execution. JRPGs and open-world action-adventure games can be great but they often are overly padded and that's where my issue is. I love experiences that know when to quit and don't overstay their welcome.

JRPGs.

9 times out of 10, there's some weird sex stuff in it that throws me off entirely. And then just way too much of whatever this shit is.

Turn based RPGs, and unlike some of the other posts that mention them it's that I can't even go back and play through ones that I used to like when I was younger. For some reason I still feel compelled to buy them from time to and think maybe this will be the one to make me enjoy this style of gameplay again, but nope. Granted, there are a few turn based games that I absolutely loved (Persona 5, Yakuza 7) although that's in spite of the combat, not because of it.

Ubisoft open world games, especially with Legion and Valhalla. I loved Odyssey but the formula is just too bloated with too much crap littered all over the map. It was more novel in Odyssey with the return of open sea traversal (loved Black Flag), so it split up the land exploration just the right amount. Valhalla while beautiful just couldn't engage me. Legion's London was impressive as virtual tourism, but the cookie cutter infiltration points created a lot of dissonance between the world and core loop. I've also come to enjoy shorter experiences in general lately so this sort of big time investment in one game isn't really my jam anymore. There are exceptions like Valheim or 2077, but for the most part the big huge AAA open world doesn't draw me in nearly as much as it used to. I'll still be there day one for BOTW2 though đź‘Ť

Turn-based JRPGs. I played a shit-ton of them back in the SNES-PS360 eras, and I still have a lot of fond memories of them. I just don't have the patience anymore for the constant cycle of the transitions to combat, the win poses, etc. etc. So much wasted time. Square opting for realtime combat in FFVII-R was a godsend.

I feel like I can't really enjoy racing games much anymore. Was into them for years and years but then one day they just stopped clicking with me. :/

MMO's. From the early 2000's until about 2015 I was down to try any. I think too many of the more recent MMO's weren't designed with the same spirit of exploration and experience of advancement within a shared world like those of the past. Instead they were/are merely games of some other traditional genre, designed to lead people on endlessly with gated advancement and joyless grinding. Many aren't even truly open worlds, but rather multiplayer games with a kind of soulless community hub, lacking even barebones social features (Destiny 2 is by far the largest offender here).

They just don't build them like they used to.

Most old school jrpgs. You couldn't pay me to go and play some of those old games. Why? Because random battles. Idc what people say, that shit was just tedious and bad. Good thing I got through most of the great ones back in the day.

FPS. I think the COD games and how influential they were to the genre as a whole just pushed me away from them. The Renaissance of 2000 era FPS's recently has brought me back a little though. Hopefully that old school love continues.

Roguelike/roguelite games pixel or not. I just am so tired of the genre and find the games boring. Same with Metroidvania games for me.

I also don't think I'm super into Ubisoft open world games.

WRPGs and CRPGs. Its like a little switch clicked and I was less interested in them and my interest in JRPGs increased. I try to be picky with my JRPGs though because it is harder to find good ones. Last WRPG I liked enough to finish was Outer Worlds. Also fell out with FPS. Just no interest really in using PC much, so I play FPS as a result. Last one of those I seriously played was Doom Eternal. Before that was... Doom 2016 lol.

Fighting games. Loved them as a kid when i had all the time in the world, but I just don't have the patience to master and learn/relearn combos and combat mechanics anymore.

Racing is probably the only genre, was super into them for like 15 years and like 2010 just wasn't and still aren't. Not a genre but PvP and open world games burn me out super fast, I used to love them.

Racing games and, to a lesser extent, fighting games. I'll still play a new Tekken for about a week bc of old attachment but I don't love arcade style gameplay. I guess Fight Night doesn't count as a fighting game to most but that's the only one that could get me back into that kind of thing(after 4 UFC games, I think there's just too many variables to make a satisfying MMA game. They tried).

I never loved FPS's but I can play one if there's an interesting premise with the setting, story, etc.

Sports. Basically all sub-genres within it too. I was all about the more realistic sim Madden/FIFA/PES in college (actually going back to NHL 94 and others on SNES), loved the arcade-y NBA Street, NHL Hitz, NFL Blitz series for the longest time and then THPS and SSX were some of my favorites in the PS2 era. Hell I grew up on Ice Hockey and Tecmo Bowl. Something happened where the extreme sports pushed towards realism, the sim sports got stagnant, and they honestly stopped making good quick-play arcade sports (minus Super Mega Baseball).

I've also been less into actual sports and local multiplayer as I've gotten older so that's contributed. But I used to be a yearly iteration guy.

Shame, I genuinely think the genre has gotten weaker/worse since the PS2/PS3 era.

Same, dude. But more specifically military shooters like CoD, Battlefield, etc. I grew up with Counterstrike, Battlefield 2, and the like but there's something about realistic gun violence and military porn that I'm just not into these days. I still have fun with scifi settings like Destiny and Doom.
