I ll start pointing out the obvious: online multiplayer with friends and new style (Super Mario Bros 2 USA).

Maybe costumes too?

What do you want?

I want to make a world with multiple levels.

But it's never going to happen.

uuu I was thinking about this same thing early today. Id like to create my own "game" within the game. Just let me display the levels map like in Super Mario Bros, its not a big deal but it would be really cool.

- More themes/styles (Super Mario 64/Super Mario Land maybe?)
- Online friends matchmaking support
- Playlist support (you should be able to bundle together stages and share a code for that playlist)

I really don't get why people are expecting Mario Bros USA as the DLC theme..

  1. It was never released as a Mario game in Japan.. Mario 2 in JP is Mario Lost Levels in the West
  2. It isn't a Mario game anywhere else.. It's Doki Doki Panic.. You jump on a head and they don't die.. It's a completely different core mechanic.
It just isn't going to happen.. Nintendo won't bring out a theme where the people in their home market are going to go whaaaa?
I get trendy memes as folks remember playing the game back in the day.. But it feels like you're deliberately setting yourselves up for disappointment to complain when the new theme is inevitably Galaxy and is glorious.

You said it yourself, it's Mario USA in Japan. It exists (SNES, GBA, Virtual Console...). Lot of classic Mario characters originated from that game. They know this game.

Mario All-Stars visuals for SMB 1 and 3 please. No need to update the physics, just a new coat of paint would be fine and let makers tick the NES/SNES style on or off. I know the physics are a little different between the NES and SNES versions but it'd be fine to keep the physics the same in this case. Just a skin change basically.

Because let's face it, the All-Stars versions of the games are just better ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I wrote a wishlist a few days ago with some things that don't necessarily spring immediately to mind, but I think would add so much. I've added to it a bit over time:

* More characters for comments and level descriptions!
* More clear conditions. "Kill no enemies"! "Collect <10 coins!"
* The ability to watch recordings of other people playing your level; particularly looking at death events to get some context for exactly what caught them out.
* A testing lab with options to send a level to a specific other player so they can playtest it, or to send a level out to a random player (or - even more importantly - group of players to enable multiplayer testing) and allow you to watch their performance, in both cases without committing to a full upload.
* A means to split players into lanes for multiplayer.
* "Custom Endless", allowing you to play through a feed of puzzle levels, or completion rates between 5% and 20%, or unplayed levels, or one of lots of other criteria.

And I think this one is the biggie, and shouldn't be too tough to pull off with the existing infrastructure:

* The ability to set extra goals for a level using the Clear Conditions interface, either for level-specific achievements or a gold/silver/bronze performance test (Collect 50 coins, bronze; 100 coins, silver, 200 coins, gold, that sort of thing). Encourages replay of existing levels more than a simple time trial that only records the best result can, and allows skill in the game to be represented in other forms than simple speed, and it'd be a nice nod toward the Challenge Mode in NSMBU.
* There's also some potential in merging *that* concept with the ability to have levels that don't have a goal pole and instead end - and score your performance - when time expires or you complete a clear condition.

But I do see Mario Land etc.
Eh; with the Superball Flower being in the Super Mario Bros. style, I don't know if Land is that likely either.

Maybe Land 2 specifically?

Didn't know about that.. My bad

Still don't think it'll happen cos of mechanics
If they didn't introduce an 'Extra Game Styles' category that doesn't need to conform to the main four styles, I would agree.

I think it's fairly possible; I can only really see SMB2, Land 2 or Odyssey. 64 and Galaxy don't seem all that likely to me (otherwise, I don't think we would have music tracks from them as sound effects).

Water tiles, pleeeeeeeeease make it happen, Nintendo. That and Boss Bass/Big Bertha. Those are two biggest wants. Oh, and Big Boo.

Also, some type of Overworld. Even if its just a collection of ready made templates to choose from. Something would be nice to fill out with our own levels.

Other Nintendo game styles like Metroid or Zelda II.
It will never happen but those game crossover parts were the greatest part of the NES Remix games.

People wishing for Super Mario Land, stop it. The game has horrible physics and it looks really bad. Super Mario Land 2 is the only acceptable answer if you want a GB styled Mario in MM2.

I really don't get why Porcupuffer was exclusive to 3D World. They were already in SMW/NSMBU, and Boss Bass could fit as the SMB/SMB3 equivalent.

On a similar note, Fire Bro / Heavy Fire Bro definitely shouldn't be 3D World exclusive.

All of the content from the story mode. I want to be able to place movable concrete blocks. Make SM3DW not unique and able to be changed between themes(Give other themes clear pipes).

Also SMB2/USA theme.

Kind of funny to say 'Super Mario USA' never released in Japan when 'Super Mario USA' is the Japanese name lol

I'm expecting to see some of the different level objectives that were story mode exclusive to be added as user options.

Also, allow us to have more freedom for music choices and lava/water usage. There's absolutely no reason why I shouldnt be able to use lava or water in the underground world when they are literally both in other Mario games.

i mean there's literally an extra tab now with styles that aren't compatible with the other 4 so i'm not so sure that this would be a deal breaker.

Sure but that split is more to do with the creation differences.. M3DW still plays like Mario.

If you'd seen my poor missus having to play my two kids' levels yesterday she'd have been stuffed if she had to jump on the egg then pick it up and throw it at the weird pink bird.. (actually maybe SM2 is a good idea :P).

I was thinking the same thing, but both of the Story Mode-exclusive Clear Conditions have issues they need to solve:
  • You can't carry objects in the SMB theme, so the Stone doesn't really work (they avoided using this style for those levels in the story mode).
  • The Toad Escort levels seems like they would really fall apart in multiplayer. There are so many more interactions they would need to account for (and many levels would be made trivial if the players could split up the Toad load).

Debug mode (or layer) that I can put items on it to help me create the stage, but when I try to upload it, it's gone. Tried to make a longer level yesterday, and to test things near the end I had to either play from beginning or put items as shortcuts, and when I would try to upload the level, I always forgot to delete them. I must have a problem.

The problem is me, not the game. See post #72.

Ok.. Let me big up the theme I want rather than put down Mario 2:

Remember in Odyssey there were a couple of the side scrolling bits that used Galaxy's gravity mechanic? I reckon that comes from them testing the idea in MM2.. Imagine some crazy vertical levels where you use gravity and the twisters to reach the end without ever touching the ground.

Being able to watch the exact paths people have taken in your levels.

For instance I have a level that's just wall to wall enemies after a certain point but the trick is to get a car from up high and just drive through them. Wanna see who did what.

New tags for levels, in particular troll, cooperative, and long (opposite of short and sweet)

The ability to boo/meh/like stages in coop

A change to how the medal system works, it's pretty insane someone needs to get to rank 1st in the world to get a gold medal for most of these, make it like top 5/10/20% or 10/25/50%, something a lot more manageable.

Improved stability in online multiplayer

The ability to hide stages you've beaten when searching in course world especially in the popular tab

More incentives for people to play new course

The ability to queue up multiple levels to play in a row

Water tiles, super Mario 2 (USA), the ability to tie your levels together via world map, and the earth wheel mechanic from super Mario wii/wii U

Being able to tie levels together into worlds/playlists is still my biggest dream from the original game still unfufilled (Slopes, more level themes, more playable characters and multiplayer were accomplished). I really hope they get around to it (though it might be something they're saving for Super Mario Maker 3).

Your best hope is if they re-add the Weird Mushroom, and they change Weird Luigi's color to purple.

Only if it looks like Mario Land 2 rather than playing like Mario Land 2, because Mario Land 2 just felt off in so many ways to me. Like the DOS Megaman titles.
