What color goes with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, & 4th player?

It's a question as old as gaming itself... which color is 1st player? It's red.

But what about the rest of the player slots?

This brings back old memories of me and friends playing soldier outside. I would be on team Blue, some others would be on team Red and there was always this one guy that said: "I am Grey. I won't do anything until one of the teams reaches my location and then I will become their color".

The logic to this (and there is a logic to it!) is that you alternate warm and cool colors, just like Euro banknotes.

So Blue/Red/Green/Yellow works, as does Red/Blue/Yellow/Green. But you wouldn't want to put, say, green and blue next to each other.

I mean, if you want to get way deep into color theory, Nintendo probably put green last because green being considered its own color (and not a shade of blue) is a pretty recent development in Japan.

Using both green and yellow can (depending on shade) trip up my colourblindness (likewise blue and purple on occasion)... Where an option, I get heavy use out of vibrant-but-distinct (to me) colours like orange and pink

Ideal 4 player scheme for me would be:

Blue -> red -> green or yellow -> pink or orange
