On the old boards, I'd made a thread asking people to show off the art they have in their homes...I'm going to copy over what I put there, along with a few new shots.
our newest three (they aren't up on the walls yet) big pieces we picked up in South Africa, mixed media on the backside of clear acrylic
abstract, textured piece we found in Singapore
papercraft awesomeness we bought at an auction to support wolves
a large street scene from an artist in Lyon
something we picked up in Scotland, image of the highlands done by Clarence Roe, a landscape painter of some note
charcoal work we found in Paris. One of my favorite pieces, really hard not to be impressed with the suggested detail
a ukiyo-e print by (and signed by) Hiroshi Yoshida, who worked to combine the look of the Japanese woodblock prints and the western watercolors...hard to believe that it's all block print
something out of the Czech countryside...was a gift from my mother, so I don't know too much about it
modern abstract oil..found it at a chain of art stores called Carre d'Artistes. Really great dealer if you have one in your city. Every square piece in our collection are from these places. Local artists, very reasonable prices, all good.
a giclee of a Chuck Jones original, "Torso". LE was 100, bought this for my wife on her birthday. Yes, he did more than Bugs Bunny, and he did it very well
a trio of pieces above our bed. I believe they're mixed media, pens, watercolors, and some acrylics. Again, from Carre d'Artistes
Two more from the place, these from Madrid. Sorry for the angle, lighting made it difficult
And two more...
a large abstract from the Carre in NYC
This one was done by my Nephew as a Christmas gift a few years back. Love the game, so it was really awesome to get
something another nephew painted years ago...I don't think he (or my sister) knows it's still up on our wall...
A painting that hung in my father's office when I was a kid. He passed away when I was a teen, but I've always associated this work with that comfort that comes from his memory.
A painting of a street in Paris...bought on our honeymoon. Always liked the feeling that you could continue down past the curve
A painting of Karlov Most by a Czech painter of note. I forget his name, but I know he's got something hanging in the Louvre
An original Chuck Jones sketch/painting (and signed in pencil). We originally gave this as a gift to a friend, but years later he became an ass and wound up leaving this here. I'm happy to have it back.
A painting (reproduction) of the spot where I proposed to my wife...points to anyone who can recognize the place.
Again from Carre...one my wife loved, and it's really a neat piece. A lot of depth to it...
Self explanatory, but it is paint on canvas, so it qualifies...
A venetian balcony, appropriated from my mother's home. She was changing art, and asked if I wanted anything...couldn't resist
A pen drawing of Ponte Vecchio in Florence (bought about a block away) Sorry for the extreme angle, the glare was terrible (I should have just moved it to take the picture)
