Just sit on your hand until it goes numb.
that was a hilariously good epI've always felt uncomfortable by the notion of sexbots.
It's basically what if sex toys could think/feel/etc. Everytime the concept is brought up in fiction it usually is used to be a "substitute" for the real thing, and once the person finds a real partner, they discard the sex bot which results in the thing becoming obsessive because that was it's purpose.
Ex: Batman Beyond
Would sexbots do more harm that good? Will they drive more people to social isolation, or will they provide an outlet and prevent some guys from becoming psycho rapists?
I feel like unless you are personally into it anything related to sex that what someone else does is almost always going to seem weird.Eh, wouldn't use one myself but it's basically just a more complex sex toy. Nothing inherently weird about it. Like some people think fleshlights are weird. Who am I to judge?
Uncummy Valley, more like. Why are the far less realistic ones less creepy? I mean, I know the answer is Uncanny Valley, but still.
I'm pretty sure it's possible for people to fall in love with robots or TV characters or whatnot, triggering all the usual love feelings except obviously unreciprocated.Hard to say. But it's concerning that in the future some young people's first experience could be with a sexbot, and they may then decide to not pursue real romance. One thing these sexbots will not be able to do (at least in our lifetimes) is recreate the feeling of being in love. I've been fortunate enough to experience this many times in the past and it makes me sad that some people will go their whole lives without trying or giving up after a few rejections.
I want my Todd Howard bot to do thatYou get home from a long day at work, you come in through the front door and see that your life-like domestic companion bot has cleaned the house from top to bottom and has prepared you one of your favorite meals. Life is good.
At dinner you make advances towards your domestic companion bot and it reciprocates, afterall, how could it not. The advanced AI Programming has learned exactly what you like in bed.
It says it wants to roleplay; you're surprised, but ultimately go along with it.
Your domestic companion bot quickly ties you up and mounts you.
"Hey, you're finally awake....You were trying to cross the border? Walked right into that imperial ambush, like us and that thief over there."
You struggle against the ropes but it's no use.
The bot that the OP is describing is very advanced. So self cleaning is probably a feature.
What eeewwww no no nooo I hope something like that never happens and then what happens when they get bored of these sexrobots they will naturally be more animalistic for the real thing that's a dark path to take I don't even wanna imagine a future with thatSuper weird of course because the idea feels so alien to us now, but in principle pretty much indifferent. A bot is just a bot, regardless of how well you program it to react as a real person. I very much doubt a bot or other forms of AI would "evolve" to the point of actually achieving "consciousness", aside from maybe an artificial and pre-programmed one. But that's a different discussion.
A real controversial question would be how you'd feel about child-like sex bots. In theory a good way for paedophiles that are at high risk of acting on their urges to not actually abuse children, but the thought alone is creepy of course.
What if that's what im into?
Hell, I don't think it would even need to be that robotic. I think it would be pretty cool to have a tablet on wheels that displayed some sort of interactive pet or companion on screen at all times.I can actually see pets being replaced by bots. You won't have to worry about health bills, or their death anymore. they will be able to mimic dog behavior very accurately by an AI. I could see this in 20 years.
Possibly, but I think highly unlikely. Also, to be clear, I'm not saying they should be sold at your local shops or whatever, to be used by everyone, but it could be used as some last-resort form of therapy or at the very least a means to get the urges (temporarily) out of their system before they'd act on actual children. Sure, there might be some who will feel encouraged by it and would afterwards pursue "the real deal", but I really doubt it would occur on the scale you're worried about.
Obviously I haven't really conducted research on this matter, so I don't know, but it got me thinking of people who are diagnosed with certain mental illnesses with potential devastating effects if acted upon. Treatments should always be the first priority, but what if that fails?
