Far as I can tell, the Sony of today doesn't like anime and first party AA anymore.

I doubt we're ever going to get quirky first party stuff like Saru Getchu (Ape Escape), Boku no Natsu Yasumi and Doko demo issyo again.
Dreams, Astrobot and Minna no Golf (Everybody's Golf) were probably the last few project approvals from years ago that made it to release before the HQ got moved to California.

I'm actually really sad about this because Sony seems to have forgotten the people who supported them when they were a new kid on the block and the people who kept the PSP alive when the only things coming out during its last few years were VNs (+ that kinda average Nanoha game).

Probably none. I think Sony's lack of advertising (this was one of the most charming games on any system, but they failed to really communicate and capitalise on that), plus some poor game design decisions by the devs (stop taking powers away from the player!!) impacted on this series. Which is a pity, because it is as charming as anything Nintendo puts out, and has a lot of potential. The art was always beautiful as well.

I love Gravity Rush & The Order, but I am not holding on to any hope that we will see future instalments for either of those IPs. The less you expect, the less likely you are to be hurt or disappointed in never seeing them again.

Sadly no. Unfortunate since Gravity Rush 2 was one of my fav games on the PS4.

Eh, at least it ended in a good spot story wise.

When Sony sends games out to die, that's their way of telling the franchise to fuck off for whatever reason, so zero chance.

Kat and Raven got done real dirty, but to be fair, GR2 had some pretty poor mission design. It's a share button's wet dream though!

There's a reason why GR2 feels like GR2 and GR3 weirdly glued together. They already knew series was done.

It will release along with The Order sequel

But yeah too bad the market didn't respond, I wonder if they even recouped costs of the remasters and sequel lol

I don't think there's much of a chance. But as much I love the charm and visual splendor of Gravity Rush 2, I also don't think it's a very good game in terms of mission structure and gameplay. It is always fun flying around and collecting gems, but I only enjoyed very few of the actual story missions in terms of goals and structure.

The original is better, but not as pretty. I loved it on the Vita and played it again on my PS4.

Luckily I have the physical releases of all the games.

I think the series is dead though :(

In terms of personality alone, Kat is probably the best protagonist to be created by a Sony gaming studio. It would be a real shame to see a character that affable and fun to be around go to waste, even if GR2 did wrap up the story. And that's ignoring the awesome world design, art style and, best of all, the traversal.

But considering how Sony outside of Japan treated GR2 prior to its release - they chose to ignore it for the most part - I don't have much faith in Gravity Rush coming back.

No chance. As much as I like GR series, I hope Japan studio can pull themselves together to make a decent JRPG that I'm so starved off.

If you're lucky Kat will pop up as DLC in the new Sackboy game, other than that, nothing

The first game was neat but hopefully Toyama is back on some sort of horror project, whatever that may be.

Shu destroyed the franchise by moving it to PS4 without adjusting the budget accordingly and no marketing at all.

And the game predictably failed because the small minority just liked to port beg but not buy it.

I recently bought and played the remastered version and I have to say that I had a lot of fun with it. The combat may not be that good, but the story was quite entertaining, the traversal mechanics never grew old to me, the soundtrack absolutely amazing and Kat is just a bright ray of sunshine. I love how positive she is.

People complained that the sidequests were boring, but I'd take those challenges (especially the ones involving the use of the traversal) over fetchquests any time. At least those force you to fully learn the mechanics of the title.

I'm planning to play the second title soon. Probably after I finish Dark Cloud and get my fill of Genshin Impact.

I still have hopes and dreams that one day we will get Dark Cloud 3
or remakes or new entries in
Arc the Lad
Folklore
Legend of Legaia
Rogue Galaxy
The Legend of Dragoon
Tokyo Jungle
Wild Arms

Note: I'm not 100% sure sony still owns the IPs of all above games but I think they do :P

Really would love a tokyo jungle remake or tokyo jungle 2... such a shame that game is trapped on the ps3.

I'm (re)playing Dark Cloud right now and, jank and everything, I'm actually enjoying it much more than the newer Ni no Kuni 2. The town mechanic here is actually fleshed out, I love how you can build the towns as you see fit and how the characters actually have preferences about the location of their homes. Those little things make the world feel a bit more alive. And, honestly, it makes me waste much more time than I should moving buildings to make the towns to my liking lol.

I'm definitely going to finish it, since I never did it as child, and I'll probably play the sequel a couple of months after that.

Completely dead, in true late PS3 fashion (RIP Sly 4, Puppeteer, Tearaway etc.) Sony stopped caring about small/middle sized releases during development and buried Gravity Rush 2 with zero marketing. Killing the online servers less than a year after release and making the game impossible to 100% complete pretty much tells you all you need to know about the state of the IP.

And yes, Kat was actually popular enough to be a mid-tier Playstation mascot, she was getting crossovers in everything Sony branded, an anime and increasing amounts of merch and figure releases up until late GR2 development. Problem is that mid-tier mascots aren't of interest to them any more, only ultra-budget blockbusters or VR projects are.

Didn't people, especially here, like the first one better? Isn't the sequel more tedious or something? I finished the first one and liked it, it was a fun little game. I also bought the GR2, but never played it.

Never happening sadly. The original is still the best thing to come out of the Vita's sad and short life.

Considering that the postgame of 2 pretty much felt like they threw all the answers to questions they would have had left for another sequel into a little condensed story about you climbing up to the place you came from, and having thisnlast climactic boss fight in the city, I kinda don't see it happening sadly.
Reminds me I still need to Olatinum the first game on PS4 as I only ever did so with the second game and the orginal on Vita.

Unfortunately, slim to none.

Gravity Rush 1 was a charming game that I adored on the Vita, and I was so happy to get an HD Remaster. Gravity Rush 2 improved on the first in pretty much every way, from visuals, to gameplay, to music, to story. Unfortunately, it didn't sell well, which is a painful reminder that no, not all good games get the sales they deserve. I don't know why so many people slept on Gravity Rush 1 and 2, but it's exactly the type of original, quirky, endearing game with a wonderful protagonist that gamers claim they want to see more of.

A part of me hopes that one of the higher ups at Sony have a soft spot for the series, and greenlights a third entry. It's not gonna happen, but man, I'd love it if it did. :(

PlayStation icon?

Aiden Pierce's hat appears in more games.
Gravity Rush
Gravity Rush 2
Gravity Rush Remastered

Phantasy Star Online 2
Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale
Everybody's Golf
Let It Die
LittleBigPlanet 2
LittleBigPlanet 3
LittleBigPlanet Karting
LittleBigPlanet Vita
Ragnarok Odyssey Ace
Republique

Find another small Sony mascot that had so many crossovers in such a short period of time.

I loved both games so damn much. The first game is what made me get a Vita. The second game improved everything and then some. Honestly, it's probably slim but I blame Sony for the lack of marketing because the game was extremely polished and overall was amazing.

Nothing says "PlayStation Icon" like killing the servers of a game mid-generation when it requires said servers to complete the game 100%

I need to believe Toyama is neck deep in Silent Hill, but after that, there's nothing I'd rather see more from his team.

Slim to nil. Games didn't sell all that well and Sony Japan has other IP's that I'd hope they'd invest a sequel in before this one.

You got some borderline useless additional gestures, costumes and talismans which were all already plentiful in the game from the online activities. I mean, sure. Those things are part of the game so technically you can't complete it to exactly 100% but you can do all main missions, all challenge missions, all side quests, all the mining, get Raven's free DLC and earn the platinum trophy so it's not like it feels like an incomplete game without the online.

Not to mention, the online activities were completely cut off from the story to begin with.

I played GR on VITA. It had a very interesting mechanic, but SIE never did enough interesting things with it. Kat had a cool design, but playing as another dream suffering amnesiac engulfed in spiritual warfare didn't hook me without better gameplay.

There is far more chance of Gravity Rush 1 and 2 being in the 1% of PS4 games that aren't supported on PS5 than we have of a Gravity Rush 3.
