We've had some really good mobile games for over a decade now I'm sure. What are some of your favourite ones?

I've always found the Room series to be a lot of fun, and I've recently played through Agent A (hopefully the last part comes soon). I've had a good amount of fun with Fire Emblem as well.

What are some of your favourites?

There are 3 mobile games that I consider as good as any console game I've played and they are:

Monument Valley
Lara Croft Go
Gorogoa

All three work perfectly with the touch interface and are all puzzle games, which I feel tends to be the best genre for the platform

Oh wait, also Florence. Florence is fantastic and has light puzzle stuff but is mainly a narrative experience.

Shadowverse has been my go-to mobile game for a while. Very f2p-friendly card game

Playing this game called Tacticool that reminds me EXACTLY of Killzone: Liberation on the PSP. It's not really pay to win, either. Fun multiplayer top down shooter.

Monument Valley
Horizon Chase

I don't play much on my mobile but I liked these two. Looking forward to Sky: Children of the Light from the Journey devs next.

Solitairica is like the only one I still play.

FE Heroes was good. PvZ 1 was amazing back in the day.

The only ones I've tried and actually stuck with for any length of time have been Square Enix ports of old games, unfortunately.

The one I play the most is easily Fire Emblem Heroes. I love FE characters and having that small strategy fix on my phone is really convenient.

I also played a lot of Duel Links (it felt like a nice companion to playing the real card game), though I've fallen out of it as of recently.

I'm currently addicted to Void Tyrant, really cool card game.
My overall favourite is steamworld heist. Played that for about 20h and loved it.
Other very good ones: badlands, Flipping legend, oddmar, meteorfall: journey, Florence

I just got Absolute Drift and have been kinda enjoying it, however controlling the car with touch is really hard and i don't know if i'll get as good as with the remote control on pc. Love its mechanics though.

I think there isn't a single mobile game I've spent more time with than Downwell. Fantastic little gem, works surprisingly well with touchscreen controls

Lots of people talk about Monument Valley, but I found it fairly simple and really short. It was reasonably fun, but it wasn't as much of a knock out hit as I was hoping.

Lara Croft Go (and Hitman Go) are both great. Big fan of those.

I'll have to check out Horizon Chase, isnt that new PS+ called something like that?

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is one of the only gacha games I can recommend because you can get a hell of a party without spending a dime.

I also like:

Burrito Bison: Launcha Libre
Pocket City
The Quest
Two Dots
Mini Metro

PES. The gacha, rubberband AI and scripting are some bullshit but its still fun.

Mario Run. Good thing I bought it on sale. Otherwise nothing bad to say, high replay value.

Animal Crossing is actually fun now. Way too much gacha now, but no real need to bother with that.

Pokemon Go is, battery drain ignored, still borderline the perfect mobile game.

Rayman Jungle Run only issue is you can't play it in one hand, otherwise still georgous and fun

Game Dev Story because I'm a simpleton.
If you like GDS, there are a ton of Kairosoft games in the same style (and some have pretty similar gameplay). They're all $5 (well, they recently raised the price to $5.50 for some reason)... but most have a "lite" version that acts as a demo. I've never actually seen a sale on any except Game Dev Story.

Worth experiencing:
Epic Astro Story or Ninja Village Story - They're both sorta similar, but interesting hybrid of village sim and combat with open-ish progression.
Pocket Harvest (they have a newer farm sim I haven't tried) - Pretty decent but easy farming sim, unless you go for the crazy outlandish endgame stuff. Some issues like dungeon village (improving crops is tedious) but you don't really need to do it that much to unlock the normal content.
Game Dev Story, if you haven't - play as a game development company navigating the landscape from the 80s to a gen or two ago

Okay:
Beastie Bay (this one is free and actually very unintrusive ad-wise - you watch one short one before each time you play, and see one prompt to check out another Kairo game). Kind of like pokemon mixed with village sim. Runs slow, though.
Hot Springs Story - pure village/company sim
Dungeon Village - should be interesting as a fantasy village sim, but the combat is totally hands off and you'll waste a lot of time using items on your shops.

I haven't tried any others off the top of my head. Kairobotica looks interesting but sounds like it'll be similar to Epic Astro or Ninja Village.

/edit: Some (non-Kairosoft) games I've enjoyed:

FF: Brave Exvius is the only gacha game I've enjoyed, and will probably be my last
Idle Planet Miner is a good hands-off game, but it's probably only going to appeal if you like seeing numbers go up. There seem to be hundreds of games in this genre but I don't know if any are good
Roller Coaster Tycoon is an excellent port of the PC game

Data Wing is the best mobile game I've played outside of Pokemon GO. It's free and has a story and I can't recommend it enough.

I can't enjoy the modern games anymore because they're all the same construct for the most part, especially the gacha's. But I'll share some classics I played for a long ass time I really enjoyed.

Cut the Rope (before it got butchered) - I nearly finished the game until my phone crashed.
Rayman Jungle Run is probably the best runner out there.
Fire Emblem Heroes while a good and generious gacha game, after a while the fighting part was not exciting enough and every character was basically the same.
The Room - a fantastic puzzle game in which you have to find ways to open a mechanized machine box.

Puzzle and Dragons.

My most played game of all time. Been playing everyday for 7 years with 3 active accounts (2 Japanese and 1 US) and I barely spent any money. Just finish those regular dungeons and will have plenty of free stones to draw from the gatcha machine.

you could have 10 to 20 for the price of a full retail game, and no micro-transactions and other modern things.
A little archaic visually, sure, but nice technology wise.

I'm absolutely in love with Dragalia Lost now. Fire Emblem Heroes is getting worse with each update for me so I'm almost dropping it, but I used to really love it. Nowadays I just hoard currency and wait for a banner with cool art. Rinse and repeat.

I only play gacha on mobile

Clash Royale is not just my most played mobile game, but one of my most played games of all time probably. My other two favorites are entirely different kind of games, Florence and My Child Lebensborn. Those are narrative focused games that work great specifically on mobile platform.

Edit: I play it on PC, but Dota Underlords =P

I really enjoyed Monument Valley. I bought Monument Valley 2 as soon as it came out, but surprisingly haven't played it yet.

Been playing a lot of Star Trek: Fleet Command and enjoying it. Battle for Polytopia is a perennial favorite, a great mobile distillation of Civilization and similar 4x's. I really like Reigns and Threes, and both feel like "must plays" in terms of mobile/touch native design. Thinking about it now I am realizing I have a growing backlog of critically acclaimed mobile games - Device 6, Year Walk, Framed - that I should try.

I've been having a blast with Spellsword cards Origins. Fun little RPG card game rouge-like. I know that just sounds like a series of buzzwords but take my word for it and look up the game. It's got a great premise and is the perfect way to burn 10-15 minutes.
