My employer commissioned a company that specialises in bad backs to make all of the office chairs to minimise the risk of even normal people having bad backs, myself included.

When WFH was extended beyond a few weeks I was allowed to take my chair home.

An Aeron. The tilt mechanism actually broke about 9mo in. They're sending me a brand new chair this month.

Used to sit in an IKEA Markus, which was a good chair for occasional use. Then I started working from home and was developing minor back problems and struggled to correct them with posture and exercise, so I bit the bullet and upgraded to a Steelcase Gesture and haven't had an issue since. And I work pretty long hours at my desk sometimes! Fantastic chair.
That's the chair I've been looking at, so close to getting one.

Blew 400 of my stimulus to pick up a Serta chair from office Depot. Terrible decision. It's supposed to be big and tall and rated for 8 hours but after like 2 hours you feel like you're sitting on a rock. Have to use my another cushion and It till feels hard.

If they do another stimulus I may have to pick up something new. I hate wasting money like that, but I actually have to spend time laying down and stretching my back after using it

I threw my back out right away in April, so I splurged and bought the Ergohuman. It's been amazingly comfortable since then. I even took it back with me to work when we've gone back here and there. Crazy expensive, more than a PS5. But it's been worth it to me.

I'm looking to get one too, I'm so close to just ordering it today. I DM'd them on Twitter and they gave me a 10% off coupon, so I think it's time to do it.

I really want to sit in one before ordering to check the extra lumbar support option but none of the local dealers are open on weekends!

Got a Steelcase Gesture, company paid for it. It's a really nice chair.

Honestly though, I still do a lot of my work on my bed.

I was in that boat, but I don't think I'd be able to get an accurate feel for it without testing it out for a few hours anyways. Their return policy seems to be pretty stress free from what I've read as well, especially since the chair comes fully assembled. Are you planning on getting the headrest? Also, what color?

I don't really care for the look of the headrest, but people seem to like it, and I recline a lot while working. I got a standing desk so I won't be sitting the whole day. Might just get all black fabric, but the blue jay color is nice too. I'm guessing the wrapped back is better than rounded? Too many choices, haha.

IKEA Markus as well, but I have a standing desk at home, so most of the workday I am on my feet while working.

The Markus is ok at best and I would love to get a Steelcase or Herman Miller at some point.

The Herman Miller Aeron would cost me more than my PC. Almost double the price of my PC actually.

I am fascinated how much money people have!

Nice! Would you mind sharing what options you picked? I'm trying to move out of my bed...
I didn't get to customize anything, chose the quick ship option. No head-rest, graphite.

I know a few people who got the headrest option and didn't like it. Ymmv on it.

I have a cheap chair, but I've been debating doing an ergonomic assessment with my employer because they will buy you a high end chair if you need it. And I'd love a free chair. They're damn expensive!

Steelcase Leap v2, $330 used from office surplus company. Gas cylinder shockingly (Lol) blew after a couple weeks. Hose clamps and some tape and it holds fine. Bought $3 piece of pvc pipe in case they fail.
