It's finally official, the new Kentucky Governor is Democrat Andy Beshear!!!:

November 14, 2019 at 2:45 p.m. EST

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin conceded his race for reelection on Thursday, clearing the way for Democrat Andy Beshear to be sworn into office next month after he defeated the incumbent by about 5,000 votes.

Appearing a news conference, Bevin (R) said the re-canvass of the election results that he requested last week was unlikely to change the outcome of the race.

"We're gonna have a change in the governorship based on the vote of the people, and what I want is to see the absolute best for Kentucky." Bevin said. "I am not going to contest."

Finally! Was really afraid there would be some late bullshit to steal the election.

I feel like Trump has been really unsuccessful in the people he chooses to support. Is he better or worse than any other candidate though?

Good, I'm glad Bevin didn't try any recount shenanigans to try to steal the election.

Damn, Bevin must've had a lot of fuckups occurring during his term to be not supported by his own political party despite Trump endorsing him.

Here is a few,

Took away teacher's pensions, leaving them no retirement.

Said that teachers taking days off to protest meant that their students were being molested and abused at home.

Said that marijuana was killing people with overdoses.

Compared public workers to drowning victims in that you need to knock them out and drag them to shore.

There are many more things he did to piss off people here.

Incredible, Beshear won counties where Trump won by nearly 50 points!!!:

In the presidential race three years ago, Trump carried Kentucky by about 30 points. But Beshear, the state's attorney general and the son of a former governor, racked up huge margins in Kentucky cities while also flipping two suburban counties outside of Cincinnati. Beshear also won several counties in rural, eastern Kentucky, including some Trump had won by nearly 50 points.

Feels kinda bittersweet actually.

He only conceded because the Republican legislature signaled that they weren't willing to steal the election for him (even though in recent years they've been more than willing to steal other seats in state government). They only weren't willing to do this because the Governor is pretty hamstrung in Kentucky without the legislature (has no real veto power) and the state AG is a different party and will sue his pants off if he tries anything too progressive with executive authority (the same way Beshear himself sued the pants off Bevin) (and a large part of the executive is GOP controlled anyway).

Still wonderful that Bevin is gone any way it's sliced though.

Great news! So how long before the Kentucky Legislature passes resolutions stripping the governor of a bunch of power?
