...nothing? It doesn't suddenly mean even in-dev titles HAVE to be single-platform. Just wait for official confirmations etc. Same as how Outer Worlds was multi-plat.
Are they nullified?
Is MS paying fine for voiding ?
Technically they now own these games.
What a clusterfuck lmao.
exactly, at least for the already announced games there is nothing to worry about. everything else will clear itself up laterWe've seen how this plays out multiple times now. Microsoft has acquired multiple studios when they're halfway through making games for other consoles and they've always continued to release them for all previously announed platforms. Outer Worlds, Wasteland 3, Psychonauts 2 etc. They honour the contracts and announced platforms because that is what you have to do.
This is only a clusterfuck if you haven't been paying attention.
This statement from Todd Howard makes it sound like Bethesda games are staying Multiplatform:
I think they will. Does Minecraft?Better question is, will those games have a MS game studios splash screen on startup?
it is very funnySo will this be the first time one of the big three will release a console exclusive...for a console of the other party? Because thats honestly pretty funny to me :)
Nothing, you can't just throw out established contracts. Folks need to stop thinking in console war terms
Y'all make it seem like this is Microsoft's first studio acquisition; we have had years of purchases now, and we already know what happens to games meant for other platforms that get caught up in the transition: fucking nothing. They release as intended.
The purchasing entity inherits the contractual obligations; all those obligations are outlined upfront and are factored in when a company decides whether or not to acquire another one. It's that simple.
Huh? Sony isn't publishing Deathloop. It's just a timed exclusive, like FFVIIR.The only actual thing is, assuming this is a long term contract (like 10 years publishing rights for the deathloop IP), we're incredibly unlikely to see a sequel anytime soon.
Absolutely contracts can be broken. Let's see in the coming days, weeks, months where all of this takes us.
ah ok, i read alan wake comparisons above and thought it was a similar situationHuh? Sony isn't publishing Deathloop. It's just a timed exclusive, like FFVIIR.
he wouldn't have control over the truth of that statementThis statement from Todd Howard makes it sound like Bethesda games are staying Multiplatform:
Well run corporations just don't break contracts as that is the most costly option and their shareholders would not approve.Absolutely contracts can be broken. Let's see in the coming days, weeks, months where all of this takes us.
