seems Sankaku is selling "really well" so maybe more asa project titles will be coming in the future
Damn this is a great haul. I am having my first work week here in Japan and might go shopping this weekend. Probably only picking up one or two games as I want to clear the backlog first as well as saving for the "eroge tsunami" next month. The E3 hype is also catching up on me so will be focusing on watching stuff and reading discussions in the coming week.Got a few new pickups to fill up holes in my collection
Funnily enough, I never owned a copy of this classic. However, I do own the Escalayer R so it's not that bad.
I never owned Rance Quest(Rance 8) physically, I'll also have to get Magnum later down the road
Mamatoto I played digitally. I couldn't find it physically, and it's one of the few semi-modern ones that actually get quite expensive.
If you're not interested in a collection, I'd recommend the bargain edition, which isn't so bad price-wise.
Atlach=Nacha, also the game I keep on harassing MangaGamer about in their polls. I technically already own this as part of "Alice no Yakata 456", however a few games from that collection later got standalone bargain editions. This is one of them.
Safe for work? Say it isn't so. Alicesoft in the past has repackaged a few of their games for sale on other platforms.
This is the limited edition for "Pastel Chime Continue". I owned the original PC version already, but purchased this for the novelty.
Okay...I actually did buy it a 3rd time, the regular version for PSP
And that's about it, and will be it for a while. I'll be saving funds up for other things for now.
that's really where those games excel.Damn this is a great haul. I am having my first work week here in Japan and might go shopping this weekend. BTW, I am at the last area of Rance 01. Did not play it with a guide so I have missed quite a few scenes. I will return to the game for a second playthrough later.
Yay, I like it, and will definitely continue playing the rest. I will take my time though as I want (hope) they will announce and release Rance 04 by next year. And yeah, I notice Rance 02 is in the 2010 pack.that's really where those games excel.
I tend to play blind my first time and then collect all the CGs on consequent runs.
Some games like Sengoku(7) have multiple routes, but at least they force you to play the "true"(canon) route before unlocking the rest.
I'm guessing you're enjoying it since you're going in for a second round? that's good. I'm interested in how you feel once you get past the remakes because all of the games in the series are different genres which never fails to surprise people.
Also you might notice that "Rance 02" is never sold on store shelves, and that's because it never got released standalone. It's sold as part of "Alice 2010".
I'm currently in a dry period myself. I'm mainly keeping an eye out during E3 to budget what I'll get besides FE and Pokemon.Yay, I like it, and will definitely continue playing the rest. Regarding my current plan, after Rance 01, I am going back to Ouka Sabaki, then back to Demon Route of Soukoku no Arterial. Ryuusei will be probably out by that time and it will be my priority in the summer. Going to have a wonderful time with all these games!
FE is one of my most anticipated releases of this year and it has been looking better and better with the tweets everyday. This is easily the furthest IS has taken on customizations and gameplay variety. Unfortunately my switch is at home now so I can't play it soon. Maybe I will get one more Switch when they announce the new model.I'm currently in a dry period myself. I'm mainly keeping an eye out during E3 to budget what I'll get besides FE and Pokemon.
As for eroge, on the Alicesoft side we've had no news since Haha Ranman released 2 months ago. Also I'm waiting to learn more about whatever Navel is doing.
In the meantime I'm going to finish up the Ace Attorneys I missed being both Dai Gyakuten Saiban games. If time permits, I'll also be marathoning all of FE again, or at least Kaga era.
(Not sure if Ace Attorney counts as visual novels here. I wouldn't, but they and VNs are both called adventure games, so...?)
Yeah, it is up to each person. Personally I don't think they are, but I still posted Ouka Sabaki here because... hell, where can I talk about it with others on this forum besides this thread lolBoundaries of visual novel has become as flexible as roguelike at this point, honestly. Decent number of people would argue Ouka Sabaki or Baldr series are visual novel for example.
I finished the first route of Fate/Stay Night.
Now I'll continue with UBW, hoping to find out more about Rin and Archer, who quite interested me but weren't so central in the first route. The ending was so good and sad at the same time for Saber. On one side, she was finally able to die peacefully, understanding that the past must not be changed and that what she searched for - the Holy Grail -- was nothing but evil; on the other side, it was so sad that she had to leave a life where she could her be herself for the time ever, being loved by Shirou and loving him. I really liked her characterisation; even though in the beginning I appreciated more Tohsaka's charisma, then Saber clearly became the best character of this route, showing all the weaknesses as a woman and "king" despite beiong among the most powerful Servants.
Like in books, better read the source material first. If the poster in interested in watching it, he should do it after finishing that route.

Yes, better make it clear the only FSN adaptations that exist are Ufotable UBW and Heaven's Feel Movies. Anything else is bad fanfiction.
When it comes to visual novel, it's really not that different from normal novel. You already have one novel you enjoy, if you want something simliar, search the writer's other works. I believe Phantom Integration and Kikokugai The Cyber Slayer are in English.Hey, I'm sure that this is asked plenty, but could someone recommend a visual novel? I've tried repeatedly to get into the genre (medium?), but the general fanservice and trope heavy nature of what I have played have been repeated turn offs. I particularly dislike the treatment of female characters, but apparently that isn't representative of the genre. The ones I've tried but didn't enjoy are Clannad, Fate/Stay Night, Steins Gate, VA-11 Hall-A, 999, Danganronpa 1, Muv-Luv 1, The Letter, and Fata Morgana.
Those works I mostly quit, having disliked the writing style for being either too flowery, full of fanservice, or too full of anime cliches. There was one I enjoyed, really enjoyed: Saya No Uta. Still, it was a bit too pornographic.
Any suggestions?
Thank you for the suggestions, I know there are some anime adaptation (I think also for thew first route and Fate/Zero, if I remember correctly) and in the future I will watch them after finishing the three routes in the VN - unfortunately I cannot go to the cinema for the second film of HF, because it will air on 18-19th July and I doubt I will have even finished UBW by that point. Of course, first I prefer to read the visual novel since I suppose it is the complete version.Yes, better make it clear the only FSN adaptations that exist are Ufotable UBW and Heaven's Feel Movies. Also OP, since you liked FSN, after you finish the last route and want more, watch Carnival Phantasm and Today's Menu with the Emiya Family. The former is a comedy spinoff with FSN and Tsukihime characters and the latter is another spinoff focused in Shirou's real love: cooking.
That's for the best tbh, without knowing what's going on in Shirou's head you can't really understand why he's acting the way he is, that said I can only speak for UBW because I'm waiting for all the blu ray before I jump into the HF adaption, so I haven't watched any of the HF movies yet.Of course, first I prefer to read the visual novel since I suppose it is the complete version.
There is one other work I am curious about, but am unsure how to ask about with seeming kinda fucked up. Awhile back I read Hogg by Samuel Delany. For those not familiar it is a horribly disturbing book, filled with sexual deviancy and violence. Yet it does not read as fetish fuel, but instead as a literary work. A friend of my sent me this essay on some vn called Euphoria. It seems like it does a similar thing as Hogg or 120 Days of Sodom or Saya No Uta of using filth to communicate a literary meaning. Is there more like this?
Haven't read either (torture/guro not my sort of thing) but Maggot Baits gets mentioned alongside Euphoria quite often. Mangagamer are releasing an official version of it soonish.

honestly, frankly, euphoria isn't really as good as that as everyone's trying to crank it up to be. it's still pornographic in every sense, sexualized through and through, and stands out from the rest of the extreme pornography VNs by merely having a protagonist who's at least conflicted about being a rapist and a decently developed plot, imagine if Saya No Uta was 95% about sex with an underage girl and you'd get the idea. There is one other work I am curious about, but am unsure how to ask about with seeming kinda fucked up. I can't think of any other VN, at least off the top of my head, that tries to tackle similar themes in a "filth to communicate a literary meaning" way.
That's a good read, thank you!Thank you. It seems to be difficult find any books, films, comics, or other to fufill this niche. There are a few, but they are far and in between. Also, I'll just post this essay here(NSFW) I'm curious about what you think of it. Personally, it did seem a bit reaching, but I do admire the research.
Isn't Ep8 the last? or that was Umineko?
Mangagamer promised they will release 14 episodes back in, uhh, 2015?
Now I'm confused weren't 4 question arcs and 4 answer arcs? or the rest of the episodes side kakera or something?Mangagamer promised they will release 14 episodes back in, uhh, 2015?
Yeah, fandisks material. Main game is indeed 8 chapters, so only two more years till we get it.Now I'm confused weren't 4 question arcs and 4 answer arcs? or the rest of the episodes side kakera or something?
zero es-Any guesses on what this could be?
It has been a while since we last made a proper blog post, so we figured it was time to give you a thorough update on everything that is coming up in the near future.
First of all, it has been two weeks now since the release of our latest title "Sankaku Renai: Love Triangle Trouble" and thanks to all of your support, the game is doing really well. We sincerely hope you enjoyed your time with this amazing title.
Now onto the main topic of this blog post:
We are happy to announce that the Kickstarter campaign for the Aokana physical release is launching next Tuesday at 12:00 EDT.
The campaign will run for 42 days until the 07.30.2019 and the game itself is going to be digitally released one month later. Just to be clear, as explained in our previous blog post, the purpose of this campaign is to sell limited physical copies of the game alongside merch.
The release of the game itself is independent of how successful the Kickstarter campaign will be, which is also reflected in a relatively low initial goal.
Alright, with that out of the way, here are a few updates on currently ongoing announced projects:
We would also like to use this opportunity to discuss how we're planning to handle new game announcements going forward.
- We fell a little bit behind schedule with Hello Lady, so the release has been pushed back to late Q3 2019.
- Senren Banka has had a bit of a slow start, but progress is moving along faster now. The game is currently scheduled for a September release and we're confident we won't have any trouble making it.
- Making Lovers is also making steady progress and we don't expect any changes to the planned late early Q4 release window.
- We're going to have some updates regarding the status of Melty Moment soon
So far, we have been announcing games 8-12 months before the planned release since this is how everyone else is doing it as well.
The problem with that is, that lesser known IPs get easily forgotten about when the time between announcement and release is too long. In addition, we also feel like the typical "Hey look everyone, we have all these amazing titles we haven't even started working on yet" kind of approach doesn't really make any sense and happens to be a practice you generally don't see outside of VNs.
That being the case, we have decided that we won't be announcing titles that early anymore and are instead going to hold off on announcements until games are roughly 50% completed.
Sadly, that means that you will have to wait until around December for the next batch of announcements. Trust us, we can't wait to announce more of our titles and share the hype with you all as some of those are really "big", but we truly believe this is simply the better way to handle it all around.
We do, however, also have one unannounced title that is scheduled for a December 2019 release, so you can expect an announcement for this particular title within the next few months!
So that's the reason.. I noticed that it has the rights in France and Germany, however
